Available for holidays and short breaks all year round, this 3 storey Victorian villa is now a bright, comfortable holiday home with many unusual features and characterful, spacious rooms and a sunny garden above, with decks and lawn ideal for families.

Situated in the heart of the older part of the popular village of Braunton, Wyndham Villa is just a short walk from the centre of the village, with its selection of shops, pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and surf shops.

Just a few minutes’ drive away are the fabulous beaches of Saunton Sands, Croyde Bay, Putsborough Sands and Woolacombe, all renowned for their surfing and golden sands. The house is also ideally located for keen golfers; the wonderful golf courses at Saunton, listed amongst the world's top 100 courses, Ilfracombe, with its magnificent sea views, as well as the Royal North Devon Golf Club are a short drive from the house.

The famous Tarka Trail starts just a few hundred yards from Wyndham Villa – a perfect way to take in the scenery of the Taw and Torridge estuaries either on foot or bicycle. Keen birdwatchers, walkers and naturalists will find plenty to explore in the area. Nearby NT Arlington Court, Marwood Gardens, RHS Rosemoor Gardens, Dartington Crystal Works, Brannams Pottery and Exmoor National Park are all within easy driving distance. Fishing, sailing, and horse riding, plus surf board, windsurf, wetsuit and bicycle hire are all available locally.

If extreme sports are more your thing there are a number of adventure centres in the area offering activities like high ropes, mountain boarding, costal rafting, flyboarding, coasteering, scuba diving and kite surfing.

LIVING AREAS

On the ground floor there is a comfortable sitting room that seats 8. Complete with Smart TV, DVD player and woodburning stove this is an ideal place to gather in the evening after a day spent sightseeing, cycling, walking, taking part in an adrenaline fuelled activity or simply lazing at the beach.

The attractive dining room seats up to 10 people around a large oak table and, across the hall, the kitchen is extremely well equipped with large cooker and gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and Nespresso machine. We know from experience how irritating it is having only 8 of everything in a holiday home kitchen; it can feel like your holiday is spent constantly washing up. We have ensured that there is a very generous supply of crockery, glassware and cutlery as well as plenty of large pots, pans, roasting tins, sharp knives etc to make cooking on holiday a pleasure, rather than a chore.

On the ground floor there is also a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer and a large boot room with space for storing all your coats, boots and outdoor kit, complete with a hose for rinsing down wetsuits. There is also a downstairs toilet.

On the top floor you will find the Loft. This is a second sitting room/playroom which we find is a handy space to send the kids to let off steam after a busy day while the grown ups unwind downstairs in peace with a glass of wine! This room Is furnished with a corner sofa bed - handy if you want to squeeze in a couple of extra guests - and 4 large, comfy beanbag chairs as well as a range of occasional tables and some smaller furniture for our younger guests. There is a flat screen TV with Freeview, Apple TV, a hard disk recorder and a DVD player as well as a range of books, toys and games; plenty to keep people occupied on the occasional rainy day!

For when the sun does shine there is a lovely garden, accessed across a footbridge from the Loft. There is a lawned area for children to play, a shed containing a number of outdoor games - croquet, boules and badminton - and a two tier deck with a table and chairs and a bbq for al fresco dining. The view from the top terrace, across the rooftops of Braunton, towards Braunton Burrows and the sea is spectacular.

BEDROOMS

On the first floor there are three comfortable bedrooms: two twin rooms and one double room with super king bed and en-suite shower room. There is also a modern family bathroom with free standing bath and separate shower on this floor.

On the second floor there is a double bedroom with fantastic views and a shower room next door. The Loft also has a double sofa bed. In our experience, the house works better as a 4 bedroomed, 2 sitting roomed property, but if you would like to use the sofa bed for a couple of extra guests, please contact us, as the house will not automatically be set up in this way and there would be a small additional charge.

All of the bedrooms have ample storage space for clothes and other items. We have provided comfy, high quality mattresses and bedding, hotel quality bedlinen and blackout blinds or curtains in all the bedrooms to ensure that you get a wonderful night's sleep.

Towels for indoor use are provided; you will need to bring your own beach towels. We do have a range of beach toys available for guest use; one less thing to pack!

Travel cot and high chair are available on request; we are unable to provide bed linen for the cot.

The house has gas central heating throughout and wi-fi from BT Broadband.

On street parking is just across the road from the house; there are always a couple of spots available.

Please note the property is being refurbished and will be available for bookings from Easter 2018. Therefore there will be small cosmetic changes from the photographs currently shown on the website but the facilities will remain unchanged.

About The Owner

We are a family of five with three children aged 14, 12 and 10 who currently live in a market town in Berkshire. We have enjoyed holidays with family and friends all over the West Country and when, last year, we decided to buy a property in the area we were immediately drawn to the North Devon coast. More easily accessible than North Cornwall it has the same breathtaking beaches and coastline, access to wonderful walking and cycling and many other attractions. We were drawn, in particular, to Braunton, rather than one of the the smaller villages, as it provides more activities for our children to get to under their own steam as well as access to transport links that, as they get older, will allow them to explore further afield without relying on parental chauffeurs!

Why The Owner chose Braunton

This property offers something for every member of the family. A short walk from the shops and restaurants of Braunton; for evenings when you don't fancy cooking the nearest pub to the house, The Aggi, is a mere 90 seconds walk away and offers a friendly atmosphere and an extensive menu of delicious, homemade meals. For those that enjoy the great outdoors there easy access to many wonderful beaches, cycling along the Tarka Trail or walking along the South West costal path. If, like us, you have teenagers craving a bit of independence on holiday the fact that they can walk into the village and pick up a bus to a number of locations such as Barnstaple, Woolacombe and the traditional seaside town of Ilfracombe is a huge plus. They also enjoy the ever increasing variety of extreme sports available in the area. For younger children, attractions like the Big Sheep and the Milky Way are easily accessible. Two sitting rooms mean that the kids can unwind with a game or a movie in one, while the grown ups can enjoy some peace and quiet in front of a blazing fire with a glass of wine in the other. Three bathrooms ensure that everyone gets some privacy and there are no queues for showers in the morning.

The outside space is amazing. The terraced garden, acessessed across a quirky footbridge from the top floor of the house, is a real sun trap with amazing views; a great place to sit with the paper and a cup of coffee in the morning or enjoy a BBQ in the evening.

The boot room makes life with wet children, muddy wellies and sandy wetsuits so much easier. You can access this area straight from the street without worrying about trekking mud and sand through the house. There is plenty of storage for outdoor clothes and equipment and a supply of beach toys for guest use.

It has been our intention to create a comfortable, attractive, well equipped base from which you can enjoy your holiday; we hope you will agree that we have succeeded.

Great place to explore the Devon north coast

We had a great time. The house has a quirky design with the garden perched above it. It's a well positioned property with lots to do nearby. Well equipped with everything we needed. The owners have paid great attention to detail and so makes for a very comfortable stay.

Wonderful! Great place to see in the New Year!

Despite the refurbishment not being quite complete - which we had been warned about - we found the house well equipped and very comfortable. The kids enjoyed watching movies and playing games in the Loft. Braunton is a lovely village with a numbers of good bars and restaurants - Squires and the Aggi - were both excellent - and the beaches were wonderful, albeit in coats and wellies due to time of year. We will definitely be back in the summer with our buckets and spades and to enjoy the amazing views from the lovely garden. Thank you

Really spacious and well equipped property

We picked this house because of it's location - couple of mins walk into the village and proximity to beaches and the Tarka Trail. Being January we didn't sit out in the garden (!) but it does have stunning views out over the coast. The house has obviously been recently decorated and has a really nice feel to it. Was delighted to find it well equipped and with two sitting rooms and a dining room there was lots of space for everyone.

The owner was very easy to deal with and ensured that our stay was a really pleasant one. thank you!
