Little Cottage Paris Review -

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Little Cottage September 22-27, 2017 and it was fabulous. The cottage is adorable and so comfortable. It was totally adequate for our two couples and the location can't be beat. It is only 2 blocks to the Metro which is so convenient and there are many little shops and cafes within easy walking distance. Dominique, the owner, was so pleasant and helpful. She is the best! She met us on our arrival and gave us all kinds of recommendations on how to navigate around Paris as well as suggestions for restaurants. She even made arrangements for a cab for our return to the airport and was there with us to make sure the taxi came on time and gave him the directions. We would recommend the cottage and the owners without hesitation. It was a 5 star plus stay! Linda and Ray Shipley, Oregon and Bert and Marti Sampson, Maine USA

Mixed feelings

  • 3 of 5

We really liked the idea of the little Cottage which is a nice little country house in the middle of Paris with a lot of convenient stores in the area. The apartment was spacious and well decorated. We enjoyed the neighborhood and were pleased with the

Dominique and her family were very kind helpful and responsive: when we asked for towels or garbage bags you or someone from your family was prompt to answer our request.

That said, we experienced various annoyances that affected our stay.

First, the dust: The day of our arrival, we used the vacuum multiple times to remove the dust along with spider webs especially on the first floor (mostly bedroom, living room). My wife was sneezing every night when going to sleep and this during our entire stay because of the dust. It affected her sleep the whole time.

Then, the Wi-Fi was not up to today's hotel or home standards. The signal was too slow and not strong enough. We were constantly cut off when using the Wi-Fi for phone conversations or watching movies on Netflix.

Finally, we had middle-size spiders (pretty big if you ask me) popping up on the first floor (5 of them in different days) that we had to get rid of mostly in the middle of the night. Our 3 years old daughter, was bitten few times overnight and we ended up buying anti-insect products though too late.

These issues were really annoying throughout our stay and did not make us feel comfortable for the price we paid.

We will not renew the experience but we hope Dominique will take these into accounts for her next customers.

Owner's Response: Dear Serge, I am so surprise concerning your review: my daughter asked you the second day if everything was allright and you asked for extra towels etc....and you said everything was perfect. When I came to you in the middle of your stay, I again enquired whether you enjoy your stay at the cottage: your wife said you were really fine. You NEVER talked about the spiders, the internet. For so many years now, we only had a slow internet once ( you can read the reviews ) I CANNOT explain why, if they were existing, you did not raise those WITH me , of course, in that case I would have fix it immediately . Best Regards Dominique de Taisne

The location is excellent and the house is adorable.

Dominique, the owner was pleasant and helpful.

She made us feel very welcome and met us on our arrival to show us around in the cottage and she gave us recommendations for activities/resturants/shops.

This gem is hidden in the middle of Paris - a little over a block from a metro stop, fantastic fromageries, bakeries, markets, etc all within a block. It’s everything we’d dreamt of finding to stay in but thought it could only be experienced in the country. This charming cottage has beautiful red toille wallpaper, whimsical fixtures, pretty furnishings, a quaint patio, lovely bathrooms and comfy beds and is owned by some very lovely people. I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else. Five stars aren’t enough.

A hidden gem in the middle of Paris.

What a delight to stay in this beautiful, little cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed it - the lawn and places to sit outdoors = the feeling of being in a real neighborhood, the elegant French decor - the simple, but perfect approach to decorating - the comfortable beds, etc., etc. We could not have been happier and we look forward to staying there again.

Wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

The best part of Little Cottage was our host, Dominique! She took the time to show us around the neighborhood, pointing out her favorite cheese shop, bakeries and restaurants. She helped us with mapping out points of interest, made dinner reservations and arranged for transportation to the airport for us. The location is wonderful. Within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower and other attractions. In fact, we walked all over the city in lieu of taking the metro. The cottage was small but adequate. The downstairs bathroom/shower is very small, difficult for my 6'3" husband to maneuver. We did have a problem with hot water for showers for 4 people and internet service was spotty. An extra roll of toilet paper and extra trash bags would have been helpful, however, the excellent location and wonderful host still warrants a 5 star rating.
