Not so good!
We picked up the keys from the management office, City Relay, just after 3pm. They told us the cleaners had just finished and gave us some papers with instructions for various appliances in the flat.
The first thing we noticed was the smell. It smelled of old frying oil. I don’t think the exhaust filter had ever been cleaned.
Things went downhill after that. There were no paper kitchen towels or tea towel in the kitchen. There were no towels in the bathroom, no toilet paper and there were no linens on the beds! No sheets or pillowcases. Just a bare duvet with no cover. Because there were no sheets on the bed we could see how old and dirty the mattress pad was. We called City Relay and they said they would send the cleaners back.
We went to dinner and when we returned the beds were made, the duvet covers were on and there were towels and toilet paper in the bathroom. Still, this was a big inconvenience.
The house was cold when we came back and tried to find the Nest thermostat that was in the written instructions from City Relay. We could only find an off brand grungy thermostat that was not attached to the wall. We tried to use the instructions that we were given but could not get the heating to come on and stay on.
The clothes washer was in the house, but we could not find the dryer that was advertised. We searched everywhere and finally found it outside the front door in a small, under stairs, space. This location was in the instructions, but it was still hard to find. Definitely not convenient. There were no instructions on how to use the stove, but after 20 minutes of pushing and turning dials I got it to work. The refrigerator/freezer was old with broken drawers. There were cabinet fronts on the frig/freezer doors. The cabinet front was broken away from the frig door so you had to open two doors to get inside the refrigerator. Again, a big search for the dishwasher. After we opened the door under the sink and pulled on what looked like a stationary panel next to the door we found the dishwasher. It was very hard to open and caused severe finger pain. Not ideal.
Overall the flat was a big disappointment. The location was really the only thing going for it.
