Alternatively just play golf at one on six golf courses within 30 minutes including Praia del Rey is a 5 star golf course, it is a championship golf course beside miles of white sandy deserted beaches. This golf course has recently been voted the best in Portugal and 14th in Europe.
I have worked in this part of Portugal since 2006 and have gained an intimate knowledge of this area where the Portuguese come to holiday. You will not find billboards pointing you to this great restaurant that special beach or that special activity. This is Real Portugal where the information is passed traditionally from father to son mother to daughter friend to colleague, and this is how I gained my special knowledge of wonderful area. I make it my mission not only to share with you a fantastic Villa that I built myself but also to share with you knowledge about the gems of this area but I have gained over the last six years. It is my responsibility to ensure you get the most out of this authentic part of Portugal, to have a wonderful, memorable, holiday.
Owner purchased this villa in 2010
We were two families in total; 4 adults and 5 children ranging from 8 to 3 and this villa was absolutely perfect for us. Plenty of rooms, open plan living, a lawn area for the children to play on, a lovely pool and in a wonderful location. The local beach was out of this world and provided hours of entertainment for us all. We loved the local cafes and restaurants and the prices were incredible value for money. The locals are very friendly and there was a choice of two good supermarkets close by for the essential supplies.
The villa was well equipped and we made plenty of use of the BBQ!
The owner was very helpful and easy to deal with and the local manager that met us on arrival was equally lovely and showed us around.
We could not recommend this villa, the location and the area more highly - what a find!
When we booked the villa we were looking for a change from the Algarve, and where we could have a relaxing family getaway.
We arrived on the 20th June 2015 to beautiful weather, the transfer from Lisbon Airport went very well due to very specific directions given by the owner prior to our departure from the UK. We met the villa manager, Sergio, at the local tourist information office in Praia da Areia Branca. After introducing himself to us, we were then given a brief tour of the area where the location of the local supermarkets, pharmacy, daily market and dinosaur museum etc in Lourinha were pointed out to us.
Upon arrival at the villa we were given a tour of the entire villa and the facilities, which was spacious and easily accommodated our party of six adults, two children and an infant. The kitchen included an extensive welcome pack, and was well stocked with utensils, crockery, glasses, washing machine, dishwasher and the like.
As for the location, well, it was just what we wanted, quiet, comfortable, and with lovely views of the local country side which is predominantly rural and most importantly, a great view of the coastline and the nearest beaches. The area thankfully is not overly commercialized, and this is reflected in the prices in the cafés, restaurants and supermarkets. What a pleasant benefit!
Over the next couple of days, the weather was not so good, although the pool was used extensively by all of us, but it gave us ample time to visit the dinosaur museum in Lourinha and the walled town of Obidos, which is only about half an hour away, and a must see.
The local beach of Praia do Areal is fantastic and whilst we were there it was very quiet, it also has a small bar/restaurant together with shower facilities.
Overall, taking into account the villa, surroundings, beaches, cost etc., we would give the whole experience a score of ten out of ten. The likely hood of us going back to the Algarve is extremely unlikely.
Myself and 5 friends stayed at Corujas Heights in late April this year. The villa was fantastic, very specious, clean and had everything you could need. On arrival we had also been left a lovely welcome package full of essentials such as water, milk, cereal and wine! The location was ideal for us - fantastic views from every room and from the pool, 5 minutes from the the lovely Praia Areia Branca and about 15 minutes drive from Peniche. We found the villa quiet and relaxing but with plenty to do nearby. David was very friendly and helpful, the booking process was very easy and David offered lots of useful information on the area. There is also a file provided at the villa full of things to do and places to eat. Sergio was also fantastic meeting us as soon as we arrived in Praia Areia Branca, very friendly and welcoming, on arrival he showed us the local shops and guided us to the villa. The internet was down when we arrived due to a recent storm but Sergio happily fixed this for us on the first day and was very apologetic. We all had a wonderful holiday and we will definitely be recommending Corujas Heights to friends. A definite 5/5.
The villa is located in a quite rural loacation with fantastic sea views and is a 15 minute walk from the lovely beach of Praia Areia Branca. It has been our second visit to this villa and the charms of the area are in easy access by car and include castle walled town of Obidos, fishing town of Peniche and the beatiful lagoon of San Martino da Porto. There are great golf courses within 15-20 minutes drive and this area provides great value for money.
Each year I generally book our flights and villas separately and this year was no exception. The exception, was that everything from our first enquiry to our deposit refund was dealt with efficiently, accurately and with an easy approachable manner. The details of the villa and location were accurate and the meet and greet process was very easy and, considering we arrived very late at night, quick!! The villa was beautiful, spacious, very clean and equipped with everything we needed. The pool provided us with a lot of fun and although it was not heated, the cover worked well to keep it warm. As I said we arrived at night and the view with the lights of the local towns and villages was lovely and the daytime view was just as impressive. To experience the 'Real' Portugal, this villa was perfectly situated. Several beaches were very close, all of them clean and beautiful, a little further afield was a beach where they hired surfboards, jet skis and for the adrenalin rush there was a 'flyfish', banana boat rides and speed boats to hire etc. We were really pleased that we had hired cars as we went out and ate in some different restaurants and visited some local attractions, we loved the fortress town of Obidos. Although health and safety is not such an issue in Portugal as it is in the UK!!! We would certainly recommend this property to friends and although we generally do not return to the same location twice, I would make an exception for this villa. Unfortunately we managed to break two of the sun loungers, which were made from canvas so we did suggest to David they should perhaps invest in some plastic ones, apart from that tiny issue the Villa was perfect.
Information provided by David before our holiday was helpful- info on web site and pictures were accurate. It really is as good as it looks in the pictures! David was very accommodating and even when we contacted him from Portugal, he was more than willing to give us tips on the local area, cheapest petrol stations, best markets etc and where to find them.
All dealings with the management company were straight forward,we were met by the management company on route, who then took us to the villa.
The welcome pack included all the essentials, and was just right to keep us going until we found enough energy to visit Lidls (only a 5 min drive).
The villa was absolutely spotless when we arrived, inside and out- garden, pool, everything looked great. The 'open plan' nature of the house worked well, everything was bright airy and spacious.
Facilities- Furniture inside the house was obviously fairly new and very comfortable. Our three year old daughter loved the train set and is still talking about it almost 2 months later!
The pool, although it wasn't heated, was a pleasant temperature for us all to swim/ play in- a definite highlight of the villa.
The weather was perfect for walkers/ children as there was always a strong breeze so it would never feel too hot.
Although the villa is in walking distance of a lovely beach, I would recommend car hire as there are many small beaches within a 5/ 10 minute drive which are smaller and quieter. We always made sure that we swam where there were lifeguards on duty as the waves were very large and very strong.
3 supermarkets were within a 5 minute drive (located closely to each other). I would highly recommend the Lidl's in- store bakery for fresh bread.
Obidos was only 25 mins away and was well worth the visit (In fact, we visited 3 times during our stay!) We found a quaint little cavernous restaurant within the walled town, which served fantastic food at a very reasonable price. I don't remember the name of it, but it was on the main street about 150 yards on the right!
All in all, we had a fantastic fortnight at this villa and would recommend it to family and friends.
On a tranquil hill side setting nestled on the edge of a village, this villa with private pool has stunning views for miles along the Silver Coast towards the Obidos Lagoon. Conveniently just 2 min from a three mile white sandy beach patrolled by life guards and less than a mile from many facilities in the town of Lourinha including 3 supermarkets and a dinosaur museum.
At the heart of the Silver Coast its within 30 min of 6 top golf courses which rank award winning Praia D'El Rey in their number but you will find many more activities in this area of the Silver Coast such as; surfing, snorkelling on reefs diving on wrecks, deep sea fishing, go kart and water parks within 10 min drive. For relaxation you could instead cycle, paddle board or walk around the historical sites of Obidos Castle, Alcobaca Monetary or take a pilgrimage to Fatima. Don't forget the delights of Lisbon with its shopping, football, night life and restaurants, served by buses from 6am to 22:30 pm.
Golf: Within a close distance of thirty minutes are the golf courses of Botado, Golden Eagle, Vimeiro, Campo Real the new Bom Susso course and the award winning Praia D'El Rey course with its particularly scenic stretch of the Atlantic coast. A little further a field yet still comfortably within an hour are a further half a dozen courses in the regions of Sintra and Cascais including the challenge of Penha Langa and Oivatos Championship Course with a view of one of the most spectacular stretches of sand in the country. This puts within comfortable reach three of what is considered to be the country’s top 10 courses.
