Overview

About the property

1 bed woodland retreat boutique barn

The Hide is luxury 1 bed love nest on the edge of Dartmoor in the picturesque Teign Valley with a private woodland hot tub. Perfect for a romantic getaway, exploring the wonders of Dartmoor or just to simply relax. Set in a peaceful rural woodland setting with wildlife in abundance you can really feel as though you are a million miles away. Watch the rare birds from your window and wait for wild deer to graze right outside, this really is the ultimate rural retreat. Wind down outside in the relaxing private SwimSpa available for use all year round. The Hide can sleep two people comfortably but we can cater for a young child.

The Hide is situated between the ‘chocolate box’ villages of Bridford and Dunsford and just 7 miles from the cathedral city of Exeter and approx 10 miles from the South Devon coast.

The Hide is a perfect location to explore rustic Dartmoor (England’s biggest National Park), with an overwhelming number of beautiful walks in the area. There are plenty of Dartmoor Tors to climb. The nearest easily climbable tor is Heltor Rock which is approximately 2 miles away near the village of Bridford. Just a half mile past Heltor Rock on the same road is the famous Blackingstone Rock which is easily climbable. (There's even a Victorian ladder to help you to the top.) Go two miles beyond Blackingstone Rock and you arrive at Mortonhampstead known as the 'gateway' to the high moor. The high moor has 100s of other tors and is home to many of Dartmoor's Ancient Settlements.

The cathedral city of Exeter is approximately 7 miles away with great shops, restaurants and bars to offer.

Other attractions include Canonteign Falls (England’s highest waterfall), Haldon Forest with extensive walk and cycle routes and fishing in the local Kennick, Trenchford & Tottiford Lakes.

Remote romantic stay for two

  • 5 of 5

Very peaceful location ideal for a getaway from 21st century life, Although the barn itself is very contemporary. Lovely welcome gifts, hot hottub very clean and tidy. Personally we couldn't stay here for a week but for 3-4 nights fantastic. We went for some proper R&R and it didn't disappoint, for the walkers/hikers out there this is a fab location. Would like to thank Lizzie for leaving us to it, this is what we wanted but also knew she was only a phone call away. Plenty of towels, loo roll, tea towel, washing up liquid, other than food and drink all is supplied. Will defo be back.

Perfect little hideaway for two, great food and walks locally

  • 5 of 5

The Hide is just the perfect place to get away from it all. You feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. It is beautifully decorated with everything you need, including a wonderful welcome basket of goodies. The bed was really comfortable and the bed linen was gorgeous. The bathroom is really clean and modern and the shower was good too! The woodburner was lovely and we enjoyed an afternoon sitting in the hot tub even though the weather wasn't the best. A selection of DVDs for wet weather viewing. Our dogs came with us and having the stair gate to keep them separate if they were muddy was a brilliant idea. As for food the Bridford Inn was excellent (we went there twice - the seafood sharing platter starter was fantastic) we also ate at the Manor Inn which was really good too - and both only a short distance away.

Great walking for the dogs - Finkley Bridge was brilliant, parked up at the pub and walked along the river through the valley, you then have 2 options either back along the other side of the river or if you are feeling energetic the climb up to Castle Drogo and walk back along the top of the valley to enjoy a welcome drink at the end (the food did look good but we didn't eat there).

Overall a really lovely place to get away from it all.

Clean, private, functional, peaceful.

  • 5 of 5

Very impressed with the Hide.

Very clean and cosy. Great place to spend a nice private few days with the wife for valentines.

The gate was a little awkward to find but this was a minor point. (I had put "the hide dartmoor" in Google sat nav and it took me next door. The gate your looking for is a little further on the right and diagonal to the road)

Decor, facilities and the whole apartment was of a high standard. Well heated with plenty of hot water and clean towels.

Will definitely be going back maybe for a summer stay.

Excellent apartment in a very private location

  • 5 of 5

The Hide is a great apartment that has everything you need and more. The small things such as the welcome hamper, DVDs to watch and books to read were great touches. The Hide is located in a great private location, shop and pubs just a short drive away. Although we didn't see the owners, we did call them during our stay, they were polite and helpful.

Would definitely recommend this property and hope to stay again in the future.

The Perfect New Year

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely, lovely place. My partner and I stayed here for four nights over New Year and we had the most wonderful time. We loved the walks, pubs, hot tub, log burner and watching the stars at night. New Year's Eve was a perfect evening with a bottle of fizz whilst star gazing in the hot tub. Beautiful accommodation, very cosy and quiet. Perfect for a quiet, romantic and peaceful getaway! We will definitely be going back. Thank you.
