Description

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday barn in Newton Abbot - The Hide

1 bed woodland retreat boutique barn

The Hide is luxury 1 bed love nest on the edge of Dartmoor in the picturesque Teign Valley with a private woodland hot tub. Perfect for a romantic getaway, exploring the wonders of Dartmoor or just to simply relax. Set in a peaceful rural woodland setting with wildlife in abundance you can really feel as though you are a million miles away. Watch the rare birds from your window and wait for wild deer to graze right outside, this really is the ultimate rural retreat. Wind down outside in the relaxing private SwimSpa available for use all year round. The Hide can sleep two people comfortably but we can cater for a young child.

The Hide is situated between the ‘chocolate box’ villages of Bridford and Dunsford and just 7 miles from the cathedral city of Exeter and approx 10 miles from the South Devon coast.

The Hide is a perfect location to explore rustic Dartmoor (England’s biggest National Park), with an overwhelming number of beautiful walks in the area. There are plenty of Dartmoor Tors to climb. The nearest easily climbable tor is Heltor Rock which is approximately 2 miles away near the village of Bridford. Just a half mile past Heltor Rock on the same road is the famous Blackingstone Rock which is easily climbable. (There's even a Victorian ladder to help you to the top.) Go two miles beyond Blackingstone Rock and you arrive at Mortonhampstead known as the 'gateway' to the high moor. The high moor has 100s of other tors and is home to many of Dartmoor's Ancient Settlements.

The cathedral city of Exeter is approximately 7 miles away with great shops, restaurants and bars to offer.

Other attractions include Canonteign Falls (England’s highest waterfall), Haldon Forest with extensive walk and cycle routes and fishing in the local Kennick, Trenchford & Tottiford Lakes.

Fantastic relaxing weekend

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay, the hot tub was fantastic (we were slightly disappointed it wasn't hot when we arrived, but it soon warmed up). There was a lovely goody box on arrival including biscuits, chocolates and crisps (this was a really nice touch). The bed was super comfy. I would recommend this place without hesitation.

The Perfect Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved " The Hide ". You reach it from a leafy lane off the main road ,let yourself in and enjoy the peace & quiet .Lizzie left us welcome treats - Chocy biscuits ,Crisps ,Chocolate & posh lemonade . Everything you need is there , guides of places to go ,DVD`s a wood burning stove . We loved laying in the very comfy bed gazing at the stars through the skylight .There are some good pubs nearby we tried The Bridford Inn on tueday "Steak Night " , The Nobody Inn , & The Manor Inn . All the meals we had were excellent and good value all washed down with some delicious local beer . There are some lovely walks through woods along the Teign valley ,when we went the autumn colour was spectacular . Then on return to "The Hide " it was great to slip into the hot tub with a glass of fizz .The only thing not provided is a microwave and toiletries in the bathroom but that didn`t bother us .We would definitely recommend this getaway and hope to return in the future .

Perfect and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

The Hide was a perfect base to explore Dartmoor. We did two long hikes over two different days and it was so good to return to the Hide, use the hot tub and relax in the very comfortable lounge. The accommodation was very clean, very well decorated and we would certainly stay there again.

Lovely stay

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful accommodation in a lovely setting with enough to do and see locally although we spent most of our time in! Tastefully decorated, helpful instructions and an informative welcome pack, all very nice touches. The hot tub and fire really made our stay. Beyond comfortable bed and Windows to watch the stars as you went to sleep. The only reason we have not given it five stars was the lack of pans and/or a microwave. Struggled to make a decent cooked breakfast, other than that absolutely perfect. Highly recommended. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Really lovely and welcoming and there was even a little basket of treats to welcome us!

  • 5 of 5

I booked The Hide as a birthday present for my other half, we just wanted a few days to get away from it all and it didn't disappoint! When we arrived we instantly fell in love with the property. We decided to have a bbq the first night and whilst we were cooking we had the pleasure of meeting Lizzie and having a little chat. We really cannot recommend The Hide enough, if you're looking to get away from it all and a little bit of luxury and quiet, this is the place! The hot tub is wonderful and we spent 2 evenings sitting out on the decking and going in the hot tub. My other half even remarked that now we are home he can't get used to the noise, it was so blissfully quiet! We even got to see deer grazing early on out last morning! So pleased I booked this place for my other half's birthday, we had a really great time and will definitely be back, thank you!!!!

An open plan modern set up perfect for two.

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in the Hide. The modern style, the woods, separate access with plenty of private space. The hot tub was a welcome luxury. A really comfy bed with a velux above for fresh air all night and only the sound of the woods! The location was also great for exploring a beautiful part of Devon - Happy Hide dwellers thank you, the Venners xx
