About David Llewellyn
I am a Real Estate investor who lives primarily in a Rocky Mountain Ski Resort town and part time on Maui! I have been traveling to Maui since 1986 and believe it is the best Island in the world to visit. I purchased this condo in 2016 and think it is the best value condo with an ocean view on Maui!
David Llewellyn purchased this Condo in 2016
Why David Llewellyn chose Lahaina
Maui Eldorado is an affordable vacation complex in the heart of the Kaanapali Beach Resort area. It is a solid 4 star property with many amenities including a private Beach Cabana at Black Rock. The complex is well maintained and features three swimming pools, covered parking garage, free golf car shuttle to the beach and back, front desk operation plus concierge services!
What makes this Condo unique
My condo just had the bathroom remodeled in 2016 and I purchased all new furnishings as well. There is a ocean view from the lanai and the location is very quiet within the complex.
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
My husband & I stayed here for the 1st week of our Maui vacation. We were very happy with the place. It is in a great location and looked just like the photos. It has a brand new renovated pool area with a hot tub and 3 or 4 grills. Also had games there. We ate out there and watched the sunset a few nights. There is a little short cut to it on stepping stones. There is a smaller pool (the turtle pool) just behind the unit and the lanai looks over it. They clean it daily. Even with the pool there, the unit is quiet and you can hear the wind and birds. Very peaceful.
The unit has a spacious bathroom that has the toilet/shower separate which was nice for getting ready. The washer and dryer were nice to have but caution, the dryer can get very hot and ruined a few shirts and also doesn’t turn off when you open the door causing your clothes to fly out. The kitchen is fully equipped and we had breakfast in most mornings which was niceness.
The unit is a short walk from parking, but they have golf carts that can drive you if you’d like. We didn’t use them except for a ride back from the cabana. The cabana is maybe a 10 or so minute walk away to the beach. They supply towels, but get there early for a seat. There is also a full kitchen there. It’s nice to leave your stuff there while you go swim in the ocean.
Ka’anapali is about a 10-15 minute walk (since you’re walking around the golf course). We went there often for happy hour, shopping, and a sunset sail. There is parking but the walk isn’t too bad and we enjoyed it. Sunday brunch at the Tiki Terrace is a must!
There is also a small shopping area just outside the place that has a small grocery mart (Safeway is about 10 minutes away for actual groceries), salon, urgent care etc. The unit has 2 chairs, a larger cooler, umbrellas and beach towels. They also have 1 set of flippers. We bought some snorkel gear on sale at the ABC store nearby to hit up Honolua Bay. A local said to get there at 7 but we arrived at 9 and lucked out with parking and an area for our things. The snorkeling was like none other. Only 20 minutes from the unit.
The unit was well decorated and clean (the ceilings all over could use dusting but that’s an easy fix). There are fans in the bathroom and main room to keep the place cool too.
Overall, we were very happy with the place and would definitely stay again. Thank you David would sharing your place with us! It was our first VRBO & was a great experience.
Thank you for your very detailed review and 5 star rating!
My husband, son (11months) and I stayed at at David’s place for 6 nights. We had a great time! The place was clean, well-stocked (chairs, cooler, towels, etc) and very conveniently located. Some of our family stayed at the Whaler and I actually liked our location better- it was just more quiet and we didn’t mind the scenic walks to the beach. Check in process was a breeze, and we used Baby Rental Maui for a crib and high chair which was also a very awesome service- everything was there and set up at the time of check in! The one thing that bothered us (although won’t affect most travelers) is that the balcony was absolutely terrifying for a toddler! He was able to fit right between the bars and underneath the railing area. It was super scary and was a shame we couldn’t really use that space. We didn’t have this problem with any of the other condos we visited as we were traveling with family who rented all around Lahaina. The other area that i would love to see improved is an electronic payment option instead of mailing checks. Overall, it was a lovely stay, and I would recommend to others traveling without children.
I am glad you enjoyed your stay in my condo on Maui! Guest safety is paramount and should never be ignored. The railings on the condo are the standard railings used throughout the resort and on the island and have been in place for many years. Their size is mandated by state building code laws. I don't know the size of the guests baby but comforted to know they kept on eye on the baby for it's safety. I have hosted many families with small children and this is the first time anyone has questioned the width of the lanai railings. I have always accepted payments through credit cards, PayPal, Zelle & checks.
This has been a really great visit to Maui! The unit is PERFECT for us! Very clean and updated. Just as the property description promises. It's only a few minutes walk to the beach and the restaurants and shops at BlackRock, as well as others. David is wonderful to communicate with; he is very easy to work with. We had a FANTASTIC experience throughout this whole rental process and our stay has been AMAZING! We will most certainly be back!
Wow! Thank you Jim for your kind words.
I appreciate a guest who is easy to communicate with and appreciates the work owners put into their properties to make them nice for the guest!
Nice studio condo
The condo is in a good Ka'anapali location, is well furnished and comfortable. The Maui Eldorado resort it's in has a large private beach cabana with cooking and refrigeration facilities. It's a great place to hang out at the beach.
A few things about the condo itself:
- It is a studio, not a one bedroom as it was listed when I booked it.
- If the trade winds are blowing fairly hard (as they did overnight a few nights we were there) the lanai window rattles a lot, which makes it difficult to sleep. I found that wedging a 'slippah' under the top and bottom corners of the back end of the slider prevented the rattle.
- It's bit of a walk to the condo no matter where you park in Maui Eldorado, and it's all uphill, plus the condo is on the second floor, so then you've got to walk up the stairs. The second floor location does afford a beautiful view of the ocean though!
I am glad the guest enjoyed their stay at my condo. If the island is very windy the windows will flex no matter what property you will be staying in. The property has a FREE golf car shuttle service that was offered to the guest upon their arrival so they could have taken advantage of that service to get to the condo and around the resort (also down to the beach cabana). The condo is about 100 yards from the parking garage but their is a second parking lot on the resort that is about 75 yards from the condo for closer access. I guess the guest was either not aware of the shuttle service (hard to miss with the constant golf cars shuttling guests) or decided to walk to the condo and back?
Wonderful place to stay! Condo was perfect ! Location was just right and it was so awesome that the hardest decision each day was pools or beach! Would stay there again in a heartbeat! Thank you !
Thank you for your very nice review!
This is the only place we want to stay on future trips
The Maui Eldorado and David's studio unit were excellent, perfect for myself and my wife. Grounds are lovely and beautifully maintained. The main pool area is great with nice pool, lawn area, shuffle board and boccie courts and nice gas grills. We have been to Maui at least 15+ times over the years and very familiar with this part of the island and always passed the Maui Eldorado on our way to the Kahana area where we mostly stayed. We are beach lovers and again very familiar with this beach which I think of as Kaanapali north of Black Rock, long, soft sand, gentle water. The reason we first considered staying here was familiarity with the beach and especially that Maui Eldorado has a beach cabana. This is the main reason we want to come back here. Plenty of shade inside with tables and chairs, refrigerator to store lunch, cold drinks, etc. An attendant to give you towels, beach chairs and umbrellas if you want. A big deck with lounge chairs if you do not want to sit on the beach, clean bathrooms, ice maker, kitchen utensils, etc. All if this made going to the beach so easy...which save for one day is what we did everyday. We took the beautiful easy walk to the Beach Cabana and used the golf cart shuttle back. All good! Sandy & Sandi
