Why Gregg Erickson chose Opihihale
Uniquely situated on Kaohe Beach in the Captain Cook area of the Big Island. The home boasts breathtaking ocean views and a proximity to the beach and water that is unlike all others.
What makes this House unique
A very private home but with direct access to the beach, ocean, and coastal King's trail for the optimal hiking experience. A cinder cone to the North or a short hike to a secluded black sand beach is available to the North. Thoughtful and caring owners that have gone the extra mile to offer the finest and true ocean front accommodations on Kaohe/ Pebble Beach.

What a perfect place to spend our time on the Big Island. The house is beautiful, the beds extremely comfortable, the hosts attentive, kind and friendly. We dream of going back to the same house one day. Five stars from my husband and I and our 13 and 11-year-olds as well.
Quiet, private and beautiful.
My wife and I stayed here for 5 days at the end of our honeymoon. The house was stunning, clean and very spacious. You can tell right away that a lot of thought and love went into the design of the house and into the maintenance of it since.
If you are looking to relax, do some snorkeling and explore the best the Big Island has to offer, this location and house can't be beat. The hosts are very accommodating and kind. Highly recommend checking this out.
Big Island Hospitality
We loved our stay here on the water. Authentic Hawaiian feel. Well stocked. Very clean. We loved the hiking right off the home one Kings trail in either direction and the snorkeling was great too! Prompt return of our deposit was a plus!
What an amazing house to stay in, on a hawaiian vacation. Just a tiny step in the living area brings you a great view of the ocean. There was a breeze blowing through the house all the time. The porches(can you tell we are from Texas!) were great. The beds were comfy and fit our family of 4 wonderfully. I absolutely love the outside of the house...the driveway is beautiful! The atmosphere just says HAWAII! Gregg, the property manager, was very amazing as well. We had a request for fans (we are those crazy people who can't sleep without the noise of a fan) prior to arriving. Everyone had their own fan!!! During our stay, we needed extra beach towels. Towels were delivered to the house! Gregg was even in the area, but awarded us privacy. If we ever return to the Big Island, we will return to this house!
Just a little added note: the guide book that is recommended says that Black Pebble Beach(which this house is located on) is the most violent beach on the island... there may be times that it is violent, but not one time during out 7 days there was the water crazy! I will be writing the writers of the guide book on this one!
Everything, from start to finish, was excellent about this property. First of all, what you see is what you get. We could not have been more thrilled with the house, the views, and the privacy offered at this home. The kitchen was fully equipped, which suited us perfectly, as we cooked fresh fish bought roadside each night of our stay. Second, the land around the home is unbelievable - we ended up taking all of our elopement photos around the home and on the dramatic cliffs just moments from the back patio! Our only regret about this place was not staying longer... we cannot wait to return! Thank you for such wonderful memories!
Great energy on the beach
Beautiful sunsets and very relaxing. Enjoyed the open floor plan and expansive views. We didn’t want to leave.
