Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday villa in Bravos de Boston - Villa Altamira

Villa, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Welcome to Villa Altamira! This is your private get-a-way in paradise. Situated on a large private lot with spectacular panoramic views of the ocean, gorgeous sunsets and the distant lights of Puerto Rico. Expansive panoramic ocean views surround you. On clear days you can see the Mainland, St. Thomas and Culebra. You can enjoy the whole house including several decks and outdoor areas for relaxing. The rooftop patio has lots of room to lay out or watch the twinkle of the harbor lights and mainland. The Villa is designed for three level living. Everyone will be able to find a quiet spot to relax and enjoy the view, read or sleep in their hammock outside. For the Winter 2014 Season we have continued to upgrade the Villa. We have just completed a full renovation of the ground floor with new walk-in shower, ceramic tile flooring and stone sink and vanity. Extensive landscaping completed over the last several years is now fully grown and lush. The entire grounds is now enveloped in beautiful tropical vegetation, fruits and flowers. The progress will continue in 2015.

The best about Altamira is the location. You are pretty much close to everything on the island. Walk to Isabella or take a short drive to the best beaches on the island. Want to hit the town no problem. Esperanza and the south side of the island are only a 20 minute drive. Have the best of it all including fun nightlife with lots of activities and restaurants as well as a private villa. Bananas, Lazy Jacks the Malecon not too far. Remember the island is not that big.

A fully private free-form pool with waterfall is great for cooling off. The newly resurfaced pool features accent lighting for lounging in the evenings. Enjoy the cool breeze-filled nights in the fully screened bedrooms. Newly added air conditioning in each bedroom will cool off those particularly hot days. Better yet spend the day and the beach and the afternoons by the pool. Explore the island then return to your home base Villa Altamira.

It is a three level Caribbean style villa with a rooftop patio. The ground floor is a private en-suite style living space with its own entrance. Perfect for family or friends who prefer additional privacy. This level connects to the rest of the villa via outside steps.

The island of Vieques is for those who enjoy pristine uncrowded beaches still unspoiled by crowds of tourists, good local groceries, and stunning natural beauty. The world famous 'Bioluminescent Bay' is a popular nature attraction. Many local restaurants offer wonderful food and entertainment. Night lifers need not apply as there are no casinos or crowds here.

Villa Altamira's architecture is traditional Carribean. The property offers luscious caribbean landscaping and ten-foot high ceilings as well as beautiful Spanish ceramic tile floors. The open, airy feeling of the house is enhanced by the large living room, French doors and expansive 12 X 28 foot outdoor deck and tiered design.

What is best here is that you can enjoy the best of Spanish and Caribbean culture while still feeling safe that you are on US territory. Do not forget all Puerto Ricans are US citizens so no problems with visas, customs or monetary change.

JOhn and Karen

Greetings from San Marcos, Texas!

Hello Karen & John,

I just wanted to take a few minutes to say thank you for a wonderful location to have our family get together. The only complaint from all, was that time was too short. The layout of the Villa gave everyone 'their space ' and yet be together. Pineapple stole our grandson heart. He was missing his two cats at home in Madison, WI. Now, he wants to return to the Villa to visit his new best friend.

We will do this again and we will stay at the Villa. I organize trips for women and I think your place would be ideal.

Again, thank you for a wonderful experience, XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Guestbook comments from the owner

“I wanted to say how fantastic Annette and Villa Altamire were on our recent trip to Vieques. She couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. The house was very comfortable and clean. We didn't lack for anything while we were there. The pool was really needed on those non-beach days. I highly recommend this property and dealing with Annette. ”

What Brad loved about your listing:

“We all loved that the house was stocked with the essentials like towels and bedding. We couldn't have asked for better!!”

What Brad thinks you can improve:

“Annette is perfect! She's the best at what she does. We can't wait to deal with her in the future.”

Great House and location - very well equipped

  • 5 of 5

This was a very nice house for a family with young adults particularly, as there is a separate apartment (air conditioned) attached to the house. Joe from the management firm met us at the airport, arrange a car for us and gave us tips on the island generally. The gardener/lands keeper Bob was very nice and made sure everything was in good working order. The pool is lovely and kept very clean, and the house has everything you need including beach chairs, umbrella, ice chests. The beaches are the best I've seen, and the bio bay a true unique experience - one of the reasons we went to this island and we were not disappointed. The stars at night are very clear given not much light pollution which we loved. I think the house location on the hill cannot be beat - I loved drinking coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening overlooking the ocean. Relaxing! The island is beautiful, not a lot of night life which was perfect for us. The weather very good despite being hurricane season. Although we only stayed three nights we could easily have spent a week here and really enjoyed it. I recommend the house highly to any age group.

Island Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Villa Altamira is the perfect vacation home in Vieques! I was amazed that the house was even better than its description. The owners, John and Karen, were extremely responsive, helpful, and kind during the reservation and payment process. The house is located on a hill with plenty of property surrounding it and a gate for privacy and security—you really do feel almost secluded in the middle of a friendly neighborhood. It’s only a ten-minute walk into the main town of Isabel where there are restaurants, convenience stores, bakeries, coffee shops, and bars. If you rent a Jeep, you can explore the entire island easily—nothing is more than twenty minutes away. The house itself is designed perfectly to allow for plenty of privacy for everyone. I love that each bedroom is on its own floor with its own bathroom. It’s a perfect spot for several couples—there were four adults during our stay. This is one of the most well-equipped rental houses I have ever stayed in, with plenty of cooking supplies, towels, and even flashlights and candles for when the electricity went out! We really enjoyed being able to use all of the beach gear (cooler, chairs, umbrella, snorkel gear, etc.), and we were saved from having to buy or rent any equipment. The house was extremely clean and well-taken care of, and the property managers (Annette and Dennis) were only a text message away for immediate assistance with anything we needed. We especially enjoyed playing games on the covered deck in the evenings and swimming in the beautiful pool morning, afternoon, and night! I also made much use of the outdoor shower. The views from all over the house are incredible. We loved looking at the stars from the rooftop deck, and my fiance actually proposed to me on the upper pool deck at sunset! I can’t wait to get back to this incredible house on this incredible island! Thanks so much John, Karen, Annette, and Dennis!

Wonderful house with a great view

  • 5 of 5

Went from Sweden to get some sun and bath after a Cold and dark Winter.

Vieques and Villa Altamira really lived up to our needs. This is a beatiful Villa with a great view, fully equiped. We spent most evenings on the terrass making our own food in the sunset and it was really relaxing and nice. The temperature is perfect in the evenings. We also enjoyed the pool in the afternoons after having visited some of all nice beaches. Great service around the house and everytime we had a question we got a quick and satisfaying answere.

We also rented a car for the whole time we were there to explore Vieques all beaches during the days, and I really recomend that yor hire a jeep, since the roads are gumpy ande sometimes filled with water after a short rain.

I also recommend that you go on a snorkeling tour som that you can snorkel on the reefs, Beautiful and Amazing to snorkel among turtels and other fish.

I can really recomend the Villa Altamira. Its beatiful and nice!

Everything we could have hoped for

  • 5 of 5

FROM VERMONT TO VIEQUES for a lovely February getaway! We traveled as a family of four (mom, dad, and two school-aged children) and a dear friend who joined us from Boston. Villa Altamira was an ideal spot from which to explore all Vieques has to offer -- stunning beaches, of course, but also two lovely towns, some of off-the-beaten path sights, and great restaurants. All three bedrooms are very comfortable, and in fact there was so much space that we didn't even spread out into the entire house (next time maybe we'll bring along another friend or two!) The Villa is stocked with plenty of linens and towels and has an adequately stocked kitchen. When not at the beach or exploring the island, Villa Altamira is a vacation/relaxation destination in and of itself. The two decks offer exquisite views of Isabel Segunda, including the lighthouse, as well as the blue, blue ocean and the main island of Puerto Rico in the distance. We were even graced with a double rainbow one morning. Oh, and the pool! We all enjoyed it every day. There is ample seating around the pool, including the most comfortable reclining lounge chairs we had ever experienced!

Dennis and Annette were extremely attentive and helpful at check-in, check-out, and in between. For example, Dennis passed along the name and contact information of someone who was selling greens, and we were able to connect with her and purchase some delicious leafy greens for salads (greens can be difficult to come by on the island).

Thank you, John and Karen, for offering your lovely property. We hope to return!

Villa Altamira- the perfect getaway! Exquisite views, private, yet close to town.

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed at Villa Altamira before, we love coming back to see the beautiful changes each time. The owners have created a beautiful, private sanctuary on top of the hill. Beautiful views from two balconies, plus the pool area, with various seating options. Three private, large bedrooms, (one is a studio apartment that is separate and downstairs from the main house) accommodating many people, without feeling cramped. The new AC in the bedrooms were a plus, but not always needed. The house is very clean and provides everything you'll need, including snorkel gear, as well as areas in and around the house to "get away". The house managers, Annette and Dennis are wonderful! They can answer any question you have, fix any problem that may arise (there weren't any) and have wonderful recommendations. This is a very quiet area situated on a hill, hence, the gorgeous view, so plan on playing ball at the beach if you have littles, but they will love the pool! We love staying at Villa Altamira and look forward to our 5th visit!
