About Cal & Carolyn Tipton
My husband, Cal and I are semi retired. He retired from the Lufkin Fire Dept. and I from retail. We build spec homes . Our kids are grown and our grandkids almost. We love to travel and have just recently retired from motorcycle traveling because of accident on one. We have rode in every state except Alaska. We are now starting to Rv around the state and hope that is some new adventures for us.
Why Cal & Carolyn Tipton chose Lufkin
If you like to have that country feel without being so far out that you are not near things to do, we are the place. These two accommodations are at the back of our property but in viewing distance of our home. It is quite and serene here with trees and bird viewing. We respect your privacy but will gladly have long conversations outside on the patio if that is your thing. We are only 3.4 miles from the loop in Lufkin and your availability to many restaurants and downtown or shopping. I have a lot of pamphlets for you to read on area things to do. We are available 24 hrs aday to help in anyway we can.

This was EXACTLY as described. Easy check in with friendly hosts. It was the perfect weekend getaway for us! Thanks so much for the hospitality!
Glam makes small space cozy!
This place was super clean, well-decorated (but not cluttered), and inviting. The owners have turned a metal trailer home (I think?) into a cute comfy space that somehow manages to fill all your needs. Like, just when you’re wondering where you’re going to hang this towel or eat this meal—bam, there’s a towel hanger around the corner and a folding table next to the couch! The area was totally quiet, aside from the hum of the a/c units running—which we were glad for in the summer heat. Carolyn’s welcome card and fresh-baked banana blueberry bread made us feel like royalty. And there were personal-sized wine bottles, wine glasses and a few snacks, although we didn’t partake. The cabin smelled wonderfully fresh and fruity as soon as we opened the door, but my sensitivity to smells kicked in, so we put the scented plug-ins outside on the patio for the few days we were there. And the place still smelled nice and clean without them! (So you might want to let the Carolyn know beforehand if you are allergic to room deodorizers. I didn’t even mention it, since we solved it easily. I’m certainly not complaining, I would’ve kept them in if I could!) GREAT little place if you want quiet and small-town charm nearby in Lufkin, Nacogdoches, and Crockett. An unbeatable value!
This was my first experience and will be my desired method of accommodations for traveling!! The property was exactly as described and provided a true 5 Star experience. This property and ease of check in and out will be revisited on a regular basis when I can sneak away! Thank you for a perfect two night Get A Way!!
Quiet and comfy. Good for 2 or 3 days. Everything we needed.
Very Enjoyable stay
We stayed at this location mainly because of the positive reviews. We were not disappointed. All good. No one disturbed us and the banana bread was just a good as everyone had described. If we have occasion to stay in Lufkin again, we will be happy to stay here. One important aspect is that the cabin was immaculately clean!

Great hosts were very friendly and gracious. Loved the atmosphere and vibe of the cabin. Hope to get a chance to stay here again.
Windmillhill is about 3.4 miles from loop 287 in Lufkin. Another 3 miles and you will be in historic downtown. Take loop 287 to right and you will find everything around the south side of the loop near 59 south. I have pamphlets and info for attractions in rental. We have the feeling of being really out in the country , but we are not really.
