About Jon Schutz
We are from Colorado and have been enjoying Kauai since 1993. Our children grew up at Poipu beach park and we return as often as possible to enjoy this ideal family location and make new memories year after year. The kids never get tired of Kauai and we consider it our second home.
Jon Schutz purchased this House in 2015
Why Jon Schutz chose Poipu
We love this property because the location is so ideal. We access the Grand Hyatt for coffee in the morning, restaurant options, Anara spa massages, cocktails in the library bar and easy walks to both Shipwreck and Poipu Beach areas. Having the pool, tennis, and greenbelt areas all just outside our door is amazing. We also like the fact that this is a private home vs. a condo and there is no noise from upstairs and we have total privacy and enjoyment of this stand alone home. We are happy to share our second home with you!
What makes this House unique
Lovely and relaxing views of the greenbelt and easy access to walk to everything in the area. Plenty of things to do, like beaches, horseback riding, snorkeling, botanic gardens, tennis....all within minutes of the property. We have boogies boards, beach chairs, coolers etc. We also have washer and dryer for your use too, so you can pack light and do the laundry once or twice. That really helps lighten the suitcase load!
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
Wonderful spot for a family island vacation!
I just spent 8 relaxing, fun days with my husband, and our kids and grandkids at this wonderful Poipu house. The house itself is spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the easy walk to the beach and pool, and found it to be a great location from which to explore the island. I’d rent it again if we’re lucky enough to return to Kauai!
Had an excellent stay
Lots of towels (both bath and beach), bath products were supplied, spices for the kitchen, single story was lived by our 18 month old. The floors are a little hard on your bare feet after our 16 day stay. We also saw a few bugs (tiny roaches we think), so perhaps a visit by a pest control company is needed. More living room furniture might have been good for our 8 person group. It really was fantastic! A/C in every room was welcomed.
Very Nice Family Home
House was very nice. Fully equiped. Location was close to beaches and fun things to do. Love to return soon
Thank you Kurt for your kind review!
We are glad that you and your family had a great time and we do hope
that you will come back soon. Your feedback during your stay was very helpful for us to have our handy man correct a few items that you had identified needed attention. Having our guests point things out like that is very helpful for us to know of and also help make sure future guest stays go smoothly, as well. Please come back to stay with us again!

Great home for dinner gatherings!
The pictures don't do this home justice. Spacious, beautiful, and well equipped, a large dining room and kitchen make family dinners a joy to prepare and share!
Thank you Peggy for your kind comments!
We are so glad that you enjoyed the Nani O'Hana home. We try and
make it feel as comfortable as possible and we hope that you will come
back again to stay with us.
Aloha and Mahalo,

Perfect family vacation home
This was our third rental house in Poipu Kai and, while the others were also wonderful, this one suited our family perfectly. The bedrooms were comfortable, the living area stayed cool thanks to cross breezes, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The pool that is usually available is currently under construction through the summer, but the local property manager helped arrange an alternative that we all, especially our grandchildren, appreciated. It was a wonderful week and I hope we'll be able to come back to this house next time. Thank you for providing such a lovely place.
Thank you Tobiatha for your kind review.
It is wonderful to hear that you had a great time and everyone enjoyed the home and the Poipu Kai area. The trade winds are lovely to enjoy and I am glad they were blowing during your stay. We would love to welcome you back in the future and please let us know how we can help with future plans.

Great location. Beautiful home
We loved our stay. Beautiful home located walking distance to Poipu Beach and The Hyatt, on a greenway path.
Thank you Linda for your kind review!
We are glad that you had a nice stay and appreciate your comments. We do offer a nice location for access to the Hyatt beach, Spa and hotel area. The other direction is a short walk to tennis and Poipu Beach. We hope that you might come back again and stay with us. We also have one other property that when combined, can accommodate up to parties of 24, for reunions, weddings, etc. Aloha for now, Jon and Amy
Nani O'Hana is located in the Poipu Kai resort community, right on the greenbelt walking pathway. It is an ideal location for access to Poipu Beach, Shipwreck Beach and the Grand Hyatt Hotel and resort. Approximately a 4-5 minute walk to any of those spots. We are a stand alone house located in the Lanai Villas sub-division and we have direct access to the greenbelt from the property. It is ideal for kids playing in the lovely grassy area and so easy to walk to beaches, restaurants, spa, lua, shopping and evening cocktails or morning coffee. We enjoy walking to Poipu beach for the kids to boogie board. We stop at the pool on the way home, which is right along the way to the beach. We also enjoy the 8 tennis courts that are just 3 minutes walking along the greenbelt. Evening sunset is easy to go enjoy and Brenneckes restaurant and bar is located right across from the Poipu Beach Park area. It is a fine location for lunch, dinner, drinks or buying sandwiches and beverages for your day at the beach. We have a rolling cooler also that makes it easy to take lunch to the beach.
Shipwreck beach is also just 5 minutes away and an easy walk. This is a lovely location if you want to find some shade under a palm tree and have a bit quieter beach location. Watch the surfers and body boarders here or just enjoy your morning coffee in the cool morning sand. This beach is located directly in front of the Grand Hyatt hotel. The Anara Spa is also located at the Hyatt and is one of the most wonderful and relaxing spas we have ever enjoyed. It is open to the public and offers full day access to the entire facility, with the booking of a massage treatment. Lap pool, smoothie bar, saunas, Jacuzzis, lava rock showers...it is amazing and a real treat, just a few minutes away with a relaxing walk.
On the way to Poipu from Lihue airport, there is a Costco, Walmart and many other good retail spots to buy food and provisions for the week. The drive time from the airport is only about 20 minutes and it is an easy drive. The north shore is only a 30-45 min drive and there are many lovely beaches to see on the north shore, as well as the Napali coastline by boat or hiking along the Napali trail. To the west is the Waimea Canyon and this is a great day trip, only 35 min away. Easy to get to and pretty amazing when you get to the top. Bring a jacket, because it can be cool at the top. Clearly a must see when you are on the island. Polihale State Beach Park is at the west side of the island and is also a spectacular spot to spend a day, about a 1 hour drive to get there, it is really incredible for the views and vastness of the Napali coast and expansive Barking Sands beach area. Whatever you decide to do, you won't be disappointed. You will only wish you had stayed longer.
