Property was clean and had everything on could need for a stay. Manager was always available when I contacted him with questions. There are always some things you need to find out when staying in someone elses' home.
We had a great time at this place! It was clean and stocked with everything we needed. The boat lift worked perfectly and we went out everyday to explore and catch fish. The Egrets and Herons were always there when we returned from our fishing trips to see if they could get any scraps while we filleted our catch. We also had several Manatee come and visit us at our dock daily. We loved the fact that we were so close to Picnic Island and could just pull up to the beach and see the Bald Eagle that nests there. It was nice knowing that Carl, the property manager, was just a phone call away if we had any questions. We would definitely come back!
Relaxing home for a month of working vacation
The home is old but in good condition and well maintained. My bed was comfortable. I shared the home with some other guys while we worked in Fort Myers. We kept a boat on the lift and used it often. Very quite neighborhood with nice people. You can get all the free mangoes you want. We cooked some of our own meals and ate at the local restaurants a lot. The AC kept it nice and cool. Bring bug spray for about an hour in the evening but they don't bother you in the screened porch. We stayed for a month and got a very nice rate. I almost rented it for another month but we got sent to another job.
Thanks so much John!!
Winter Paradise on Pine Island
We once again had a wonderful winter in St. James City on Pine Island being guests is a rental property provided by Carl Jervis of Dream Home Associates. The location of the Ibis Court rental is incredible, the neighborhood (and the neighbors) are delightful and it is truly a little corner of paradise! The beautiful boat dock, watching sunrise and sunset over the palm trees and the daily visits from the manatees really added to the Florida charm of our location. Best of all, however, is having Carl Jervis as a property manager. Carl made sure that we had everything we needed and was (and always has been) available for any and all questions. We were so fortunate to find Dream Home Associates on our very first visit to Pine Island and will continue to remain loyal clients of Carl and his company!!
Thanks Pat...It was a pleasure to have you and yours!! Carl Jervis
Ibis Court Peaceful Hideaway in Paradise
The time we spent at the Ibis Court rental was incredible. Although there were only two of us, we had family visit while we were there and with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, open living room space and a large kitchen area and lanai, we had plenty of room for family dining and fun. The rental is well-stocked with dishes, pots and pans, utensils, linens and everything you need to be comfortable, including Cable TV and Wi-Fi. The location is amazing with a really nice boat lift, manatees that played in our canal each day, and easy access to the bay. It was only a ten minute boat ride to the beach at Sanibel Island. The rental is located in a wonderful neighborhood complete with great neighbors and close to several outstanding restaurants. We were able to enjoy morning walks and a chance to visit with several island folks. The best part, however, was our realtor Carl Jervis from Dream Home Associates who manages the property. He is incredible to work with, quick to respond to any and all questions, and eager to make sure that renters are happy in their location. We have become loyal customers of Dream Home Associates, and most definitely will be returning to Ibis Court for our next vacation!
Thank you for the awesome review Pat!!
This trip was myself and my son. Unit was adequate
Unit it missing a lot of things I have normally found in rentals in this area. For my son and I it was fine but if you are travelling with a family plan on a stop in the Wal-Mart on your way in for toilet paper (one roll for bath when we arrived), little to no other items such as zip locks etc. Master bath has no door which is a little odd. If you drink coffee bring some mugs as the coffee cups provided look like they came from a little kids tea set. Everything else worked such as a/c.
Thanks Rick for your kind review.....
I will make sure to get new coffee mugs...all you had to do was call me.
Since this is a vacation home and not a motel, guests do stop and get paper supplies, soaps, food and other supplies which they may need to set up a household.
Upon your next visit to one of my Pine Island Vacation Homes, I will be happy to deliver, just for you, as many zip lock bags and rolls of toilet paper as will cause you to give our vacation rental a 5 star review. Carl Jervis
Pine Island is old Florida. No high-rises or stop lights here, but lots of things to see and do. While Pine Island offers passive enjoyment and relaxation, it is also a great place for interactivity and exploration.
This vacation home has water access to Gulf of Mexico, Ft. Myers Beach, Sanibel Island and Pine Island Sound. Our place is in Saint James City on the south end of Pine Island. This island is only 17 miles long by 2 miles wide (and not a single traffic light). You can get to any attraction on the island by car or boat in minutes.
What Is There To Do?
Enjoy kayaking in the sheltered waters of Matlacha pass in the Pine island Sound Aquatic Preserve, Tarpon Bay in the Ding Darling Preserve, or kayak by the full moon or hit Matlacha at sunset. Since all the guides at Gulf Coast Kayak Company (239-283-1125) are naturalists and kayak instructors, it is the perfect experience for nature-lovers and paddlers.
Camp out at several island facilities or head for the Cayo Costa Island State Park (accessible only by boat). No crowds here and the shelling can be fabulous.
Have a 'Cheeseburger in Paradise' on Cabbage key which inspired the song. Every square inch of the interior is papered with $1 bills and more than $10,000 which fall off every year is donated to charity.
Dig a lost civilization: Join archeologists from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) Museum of Natural History as they excavate or do a Saturday tour of the Randall Research Center (239 283 2062), Pineland and its Calusa Indians settlement, mound and canal system.
Pick Your Own Tomatoes: Lee County is blessed with two tomato crops each year. Pick your own, ripened to juicy perfection by the sub-tropical sun, at Island U-Picks.
Mango Mania: Pine Island is home to the Mango Mania Tropical Fruit Festival every July. The island also commercially grows guavas, longans, lychees, sapodillas, jak fruit and a variety of other rare fruits you can pick up at local fruit stands.
Tour Matlacha: Try the 'fishingest bridge in the world'. Tour the arts and crafts shops and catch local artists at work. This tiny Technicolor village is reminiscent of Key West in the 50's. Fresh seafood right off the boat. Several excellent restaurants.
Great fishing everywhere! Hire a guide for a few days to learn local hotspots, baits and lures, then take off on your own. One of our favorite spots is the Redfish Pass area north of Captiva Island. To the north is Cayo Costa, accessible only by boat with un-crowded white sand beaches, camping ,shelling ,treking and surf fishing.
Some of the best fishing in the world for Trout, Snook, Redfish, Snapper, Cobia, Tarpon, King Mackerel and Grouper. Less than 1 hour by water to the Boca Grande Tarpon Tournament.
The entrance to Tarpon Bay is about two kilometers due south from where your home canal enters Pine Island Sound. Tarpon Bay provides a plentiful supply of the two dominant inshore fishing habitats, grass flats and Mangrove edges. Most of it is 2 to 10 feet deep (perfect) and covered with turtle grass (also perfect). It is completely surrounded by mangroves (perfect, perfect, perfect). Fish the mangrove edges on high and changing tides. Fish the potholes and channels in the flats on low tides . Generally, moving tides are better than slack tides. Tarpon Bay is a microcosm of Pine Island Sound. You could fish here for years without finding all the sweet spots!
Locals go to Tarpon Bay to catch 'whitebait', a family of small shad-like fish from 2 to 4 inches long. This is THE bait if you are fishing for a big cookout and want to load up. A cast net with 1/4 inch mesh is best but you can also catch them on small gold hooks with or without bait. You can catch anything on whitebait.
Tarpon Bay is located within the Ding Darling Wildlife Preserve. This is an amazing recreational area that rents kayaks and paddle boats. In these you can access miles and miles of mangrove creeks and the. The numbers and types of exotic sea and shore birds found here is breathtaking. Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Pelicans, Wood Storks, Egrets, Blue Heron, Flamingo and many more abound. Just look and photograph, don't touch or bother nests and young!
The fishing in these creeks is amazing too. It is a real thrill to flip a bait up under the edge of the mangroves and get an explosion like a quarter stick of dynamite. Bringing in the big ones in the confines of these creeks is a real challenge. Great for fly fishing too.
If you like lure fishing, all the old bass fishing standbys work great. It is always a good idea to drop by a tackle shop and check out the latest hot lure. Shrimp is always good too. They don't have to be live but keep them fresh.
