Views are Stunning

  • 4 of 5

As others have said, the views from this villa are truly stunning. All in all, it was a very good place to stay in Vernazza. There are a few things people should be aware of before renting Il Conventino, though. First, as many others have said, it is a steep walk up from the town to the villa. We knew that would be the case, so it was no problem. The view was enough of a pay-off for the climb for us. Others might feel differently. Second, there is no air conditioning (which we knew), but also no fans in any of the rooms. When we were there in early July, it was very hot, and very uncomfortable to sleep at night. Fans would have made it much more pleasant. Perhaps this isn't an issue most of the year, but it was for the 3 nights we stayed there. Third, you should be aware that one of the bathrooms is extremely small, and there is no separate shower enclosure. The shower head is on the wall across from the toilet and the drain is in the floor. You pull a curtain in front of the entry door and then the bathroom itself is the shower enclosure. That means everything gets wet. This wouldn't necessarily be an issue if you are a family group and don't mind having everyone use the other bathroom shower. But if you are four couples in the four bedrooms, it would not be ideal. All in all this is a spectacular location, and is one of the few large rentals in Vernazza. It was great to stay at this villa perched on a cliff that is in nearly every picture taken of Vernazza.

Beautiful, beautiful views!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Views were totally worth the mini-crossfit work out to get to the house. Yes there are a lot of stairs but worth the sweat!

The villa worked perfectly for our family of 7 (ages 12 - 70). W/D and the little kitchen came in handy. One recommendation is to get a few fans so it's easier to sleep at night. We had some hot nights and definitely struggled with falling asleep. However, this would not stop me from staying again. Such a beautiful, clean home in the perfect setting! Host was also very helpful and often checked in with us to make sure all was well.

A glorious home to stay in!

  • 5 of 5

This home is absolutely lovely in all respects. It is very modern, neat and clean. The beds are extremely comfortable. The harbor, trail and mountain views are truly spectacular.

Please be aware that there are a lot of steps (uneven, different heights, stone) to get to the home. So if you have any foot or leg problems....be advised! The climb is well worth it and offers an opportunity to burn off some gelato calories.

A trip to remember

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Luca's home was entirely above and beyond what we could have imagined. Everything from the incredible view, to the spacious layout of the home, we had a wonderful stay. From the day we booked, Luca was of service to any and all questions, and upon arrival he made sure we were well taken care of. Wishing we could have stayed more than 4 nights, but we will certainly be back next time. Grazie Mille, Luca!

Gorgeous place! Gorgeous views!

  • 5 of 5

We (my husband, myself, our three grown daughters and two sons in law) spent a week here the end of May, 2016. Our host, Luca, met us at the train station and grabbed my (heavy) suitcase and my daughter's (heavy) suitcase and proceeded to lead us up 109 (who's counting? pant, pant) stairs to his beautiful villa overlooking the Mediterranean sea. He was not even winded! I was so grateful! Thank you again, Luca!!!!

The villa is absolutely gorgeous with a pleasant mix of modern, high end finishes but also an old time traditional Italian feel about it too. It was lovely to go to sleep hearing the sound of the sea and waking at seven sharp to the sound of the church bells ringing, ringing! Ha ha! We discovered how to make the most wonderful coffee in the Italian coffee pot there that you heat on the stove and then go and sit at the lovely table and chairs on the veranda and watch the sea and the harbor and people. (there is a pair of binoculars! we saw a couple on their wedding day getting photos taken!) I recommend the pastries in the town of Vernazza for breakfast with some fresh fruit from the grocer's shop and don't forget to buy a bag of their coffee and cream!

We were there for a week and the weather turned rainy and windy for most of it. Even though, we had a wonderful time. There is so much to see or just relax at the villa and then go out to eat at the wonderful restaurant of Il Pirata in Vernazza owned by two Sicilian brothers who are warm and hospitable and funny and serve delicious food. I recommend the lasagne!

This place will not disappoint no matter what the weather. It is every bit as beautiful as the photos. And Luca could not have been more hospitable and charming. You are in for a treat if you are lucky enough to stay here. I will never forget it!

Ciao!

OUR CINQUE TERRE HOME BASE LOCATION WAS EVERYTHING WE WANTED AND MORE!

  • 5 of 5

LUCA IS THE BEST HOST. HE GREETED, HELPED WITH PARKING, LUGGAGE TRECKING TO VILLA, SHOWED US THE HOME AND ALL WE NEEDED TO KNOW.

THEN AFTER PUTTING A BOTTLE OF PRESECCO IN THE FRIDGE OFF HE WENT, LEAVING US OUR TIME TO EXPLORE CINQUE TERRE. THE HOME IS ON THE

BEGINNING HIKING TRAIL TO MONTEROSSO. LISTENING TO THE WAVES AND THAT VIEW FROM EVERY WINDOW IS STUNNING. THE HARBOR BELOW WITH ALL THE ACTIVITY IS FUN TO WATCH. THE TRAIN BECOMES QUIETIER WITH EACH PASSING DAY. CHURCH BELLS BEGIN AND END EACH DAY.

WE NEVER USED THE KITCHEN, BUT IT LOOKED VERY NICE. IT WAS ONLY MY HUSBAND AND ME, COULDN'T IMAGINE 8 PEOPLE WITH 2 TOILETS.

WE DROVE INTO VERNAZZA FROM MONTEROSSO, WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THAT, TAKE AUTOSTRADA, AS FAR AS POSSIBLE AND RESERVE LUCA'S PARKING SPOT! OTHERWISE, THE TRAIN TAKES YOU RIGHT INTO TOWN. THANKS LUCA FOR SHARING YOUR LOVELY FAMILY HOME.
