Exceptionally cosy and welcoming, the cottage is entered via a hallway into the dining room with inglenook fireplace and bread oven, beyond which is a country style kitchen with stable door to the walled garden. Leading off the dining room is the sitting room with larger inglenook, the true heart of the home A utility room leads through to the bathroom and a further doorway to the garden. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a supremely comfortable king size Jacobean style four poster bed, the other dual aspect with two twin beds. Further gardens beyond the walled garden. Changeover day is Friday and well-behaved pets are welcomed.

We bought Spindleberry as a holiday home whilst living and working in London. Upon retirement we could think of nowhere better to live than Chulmleigh where we now live in a rather larger property just five minutes away so we are always on hand should you require any assistance.

Why Elizabeth Wesson chose Chulmleigh
We fell in love with Spindleberry at first sight and many of our guests appear to feel the same way, many returning year after year. Chulmleigh is a very friendly village with its own butcher, baker, post office, hairdresser, florist, convenience store, two pubs and two restaurants. We had some wonderful times here and when preparing the cottage for our guests’ arrival feel extremely jealous.

Oodles of character from the inglenooks in the dining and sitting rooms to the walled garden and extensive grounds beyond and its position within the friendly, self-sufficient village of Chulmleigh, with beautiful walks right on the doorstep and proximity to the sea and both Dartmoor and Exmoor. It certainly ticked all our boxes!

. Local amenities include a bakery and shops selling local produce, P.O, pubs and restaurants. This delightful village is within easy driving distance of Exmoor, Dartmoor National Parks, Exeter, Cathedral City, Tiverton, Barnstaple and beaches. Nearby Tarka Trail cycle/footpath is worth exploring. Golf is available at Chulmleigh Golf Club, there are 18 holes in summer, nine in winter, and it is five minutes’ walk from the cottage. Day tickets for fly fishing are available at a hotel which is three miles from the cottage. They have five beats on the River Taw primarily for brown trout, sea trout and salmon. Salmon from 1st March to 30th September, trout from 15th March to 30th September. Your own rod licence is required although tuition is offered from their fly fishing school if required. Shops, pubs and restaurants 200 yards.
