VERDE PICASSO sleeps 2 grandly. 2 + 2 very comfortably.
Our building is described as the only example of a Modernist building in Ciutat Vella, the Old City of Barcelona. The use of green graffiti on the façade is considered unusual and charged with spiritual value.
Green captures solar energy and turns it into vital energy.
Green is the symbol of spiritual regeneration.
It signals the end of winter and symbolizes hope. It's the colour of nature.
In Egypt, Green was an attribute of Phtah - the creator and the stabilizer through water - because in Egyptian cosmogony water was the primary agent of creation. It meant the foundation of time, the creation of the world; and it symbolized material and spiritual birth.
In Christianity Green meant regeneration through acts, through charity.
In China Green defines the East, dawn, spring, wood and, again, charity.
As an association of Yellow and Blue, Green possesses a yin-yang duality:
it signals moral degradation, madness, despair;
as also culture, wisdom, and renewal.

Isabella S. Castriota purchased this apartment in 2000
We chose this property because we love the Barrio del Born - la Ribeira for its location, its history, its craftspeople.
Downstairs you'll be right at the heart of XVIII - century Barcelona, with its own pulse and style.
It is pedestrian and lively at all hours. Walk around the Passeig del Born, el Mercat del Born, la Catedral del Mar. Visit the Parc de la Ciudadela and enjoy the music at sunset. Walk to the Port Vell and watch the sailing boats arriving at sunset. Shop at the Maremagnum, reach the Barceloneta and the Ramblas.
El Barrio del Born has a unique liveliness and style.
I believe the benefits of choosing this flat are its location and its overall quality of life.
The flat offers the feeling of being nestled above the crowd, while writing, composing, singing, resting, dining, enjoying the view of a charming little square, browsing at the books in the library, taking a whirl bath, sleeping in high-quality linen.
And, when you are ready, go downstairs and explore the Barrio del Born, the city of Barcelona and its most important sights, easily mixing with the crowds again.
Verde Picasso and its cozy atmosphere awaits you when you come back.
Verde Picasso sleeps two adults grandly;
two + two children very comfortably;

Stayed for 2 months... things that i didn't like are that there's no elevator & the flat doesn't have enough lights
What a fabulous stay it was! Atmospheric room with good selection of book and CD, excellent location, etc. I will come back again in the near future. Only one notice, there is no elevator in the apartment, so I don't recommend persons who have some difficulty walking up steps to stay here. Anyway, I enjoyed the stay to the full. Thanks.
A quirky property with plenty of character and in a good area. An impressive selection of reading material if you get time to read it with all there is to do and see in Barcelona. Booking was made easy and the hand over well organised. Would go again.
Location is everything then this wins. Great apartment. The WiFi broke after a few days, I emailed and texted the owner but never heard a thing back. Isabella was great to deal with and always got back to me quickly, until we arrived, I'm hopeful that maybe Isabella was on holidays etc, at least I hope so. The 4 floors were manageable and as I do location is super. Good kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. 2 small stools on balcony would be good, that's what you will fit, that's not a complaint just fact. Would I go back, yep but I would want assurances about communication after I paid my money. Let's hope it was all an oversight. Building work in the apartment directly above wasn't ideal, a few yearly morning awakenings, went on for the 2 weeks, lots of dust but that's city and apartment life. Barcelona is a fantastic city, live like the locals and discover the real city not the tourist zones, much more to enjoy.
This is a great apartment for a family of 4, in a lively part of Barcelona. The apartment was clean and well equipped, even if the hall and four flights of stairs were smelly and uninviting. Happy to say the first impression created by the smell outside was not fulfilled when we opened the door of the apartment itself. It has been thoughtfully designed to include everything you might hope for in self-catering accommodation. Lots happening round the place, good shops and bars, and restaurants, as well as fairly convenient access to metro - essential with children tired from the endless sightseeing Barcelona has to offer. A bit noisy on Saturday night, but it settled quickly when it was over. All in all, we would recommend the place, losing one star only for the unpleasant smell in the hallway for the 76 steps up. We very much hope to go back in the future. Thanks.
We loved the apt in El Born. The location is fantastic - the coolest neighborhood in Barcelona. The bunk beds in one bedroom were perfect for our two kids. The bed in master bedroom was very comfortable. The kitchen was great and the washing machine was indispensable. The wifi was solid. Would definitely come back again. ¡Muchisimas gracias Isabella!
