Easy life on East End, Grand Cayman
Had a great stay at Neptune's Nest. Very nice home, well appointed and maintained with all the essentials and just a few short steps from the pool and quiet community of 10 or so units. We'd definitely return!
We loved the slower, easy going pace of the East End. Rental car is a must.
Check-in n check out a breeze. Finding the unit at night could use some additional direction. To access the parking for the unit there is a separate entrance for the units that are on the southwest side of the pool, where this unit is located, and it looks like a construction entrance and took a moment to discover. The unit is also marked #6 on the door, whereas on your VRBO confirmation it's listed as unit E.
The unit had starter supplies such as paper towels, bathroom tissue, cleaning sprays, dish soaps, etc., but we found we needed to purchase a number of these items to get through the week. There's a Foster's mini market and a liquor store right down the road across from Morritts resort, but the Fosters in Savanah was a full grocery. Hurley's grocery is nice, but pricey. Remember, closed Sundays.
We did appreciate the available cooler to use and other beach supplies in the unit, but the beach across the street is not really much to write home about. We did not use it at all, instead opting to drive to Kaibo area, Rum point or Morritt's resort. There are some decent public beaches along the way as well, but nothing like 7 Mile beach if that's your thing. Lastly, there are no pool chairs and tables set up around the pool, but rather each unit has there own. This unit had some older, low end ratchet type adjustable lounge chairs you might remember from the 70's n 80's, but they served their purpose and we had a great time around the pool with an awesome view. The pool area was mostly all to ourselves with few other visitors.
Great trip, awesome home and relaxing part of GC. Hope get back soon.
Amazing property well placed near all the East End things to do. Whether taking a short drive to rum point, or a few steps to the private pool, our family loved this spot. The blow holes were right down the street as well as plenty of excellent restaurants. Loved the lion fish taco and Eagle Ray's and the new taco spot had amazing happy hour deals (two for one margaritas and tacos).
Great communication and easy directions from Janet. Thanks again!
We are happy you enjoyed your stay and love the East End as much as we do!
Wonderful, quiet location
We absolutely loved this property. It was perfect for our 2 kids and the grandparents. Quiet, wonderful beach to walk across the street. The pools were a great way to end the days after being out and about. The house itself was perfect. Felt like home away from home. We sat out on the patio every night and enjoyed the breeze off the sea. Had dinner at eagle rays and taco cantina. Felt so good to come back to Neptune’s nest every day. Only issue was that we had to leave to come back home to Wisconsin. Already planning another stay!
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We'd be glad to welcome you back anytime.
“Neptune Nest”is an amazing villa that was beautifully decorated, well maintained and well equipped.
We totally enjoyed our second visit to Grand Cayman and Paradise Villas. This was our first stay at Neptune Nest. Janet was a gracious and attentive hostess who was easy to reach and responded rapidly. The Villa had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The air conditioning worked well on all levels with the following suggestion...(The circulation fan in Master Suite was a bit loud at times and may need a slight adjustment). The East End is our favorite portion of the island and Paradise Villas of which Neptune Nest is one of 8 Villas positioned around a series of cascading pools. The property is well positioned to access our favorite activities and Restaurants. We experienced the “Snow Moon “ rising at Tukka. The beach front seating while dining on Chef Ron’s Walkabout Wednesday menu!! Really a natural dinner and show we will not soon forget.! Don’t miss out on Tukka’s other two sites...Eagle Rays and Tacos. The Lighthouse, Italian Kitchen, and the restaurant at Rum Point are also outstanding eateries. The restaurant at Rum Point is an excellent choice if you take a sunset cruise with Red Sail Sports from Rum Point which they offer every Wednesday.
The staff that meticulously maintains the property’s pools and landscaping on site and the property manager himself are helpful and courteous. Real ambassadors for the island and property owners.
We rent a car for the length of our stay and explore the island at our leisure. If you are a cigar fan I recommend a visit to Cayman Cigar Company in Bodden Town. Amazing ladies hand rolling premium cigars and working for a cause. Stop in and introduce yourself...you won’t be disappointed. The beach across the street is rough on the feet but offers beautiful scenic views throughout the day from anyone of the various lounging levels around the pool.
Great property, outstanding Villa, gracious hostess and staff. Inviting island and friendly island people. What’s not to Love. Hoping for a third consecutive visit in 2020 if not sooner.
Thank you so very much for the kind thoughts. We are very happy you enjoyed your stay and hope to be in a position to welcome you back soon.
A Good Getaway but not Amazing
If you are looking for a spacious vacation rental away from the hustle of 7 Mile Beach, this place is recommended. The East End location is quiet, the property grounds are pretty and well kept. Gorgeous sunrises. The house is fresh, with quiet bedrooms except for the A/C in the master bedroom which was in need of a new quieter fan. The house could sleep 8 in a pinch (convertible sofa in the small living room), but is optimal for 6. Tukka restaurant just down the road has delicious Australian/Caribbean food and there are several smaller very casual places nearby. There is good boat dive service at the resort 3 miles to the north and an excellent private beach at Rum Point about 30 min away on the north side. Don't miss the midnight bioluminescence in the Rum Point bay or the excursion to pet the stingrays at Stingray City!
Some negatives: the nearest good grocery is in Savannah 30 min toward Georgetown. Be sure to stock up on EVERYTHING before you arrive, as the house has none of the amenities usually found in a VRBO. The kitchen only had one set of half empty salt & pepper shakers and a little stale coffee. No oil, vinegar, spices, hot sauce, etc. No dishwasher detergent, no laundry detergent. There was no extra roll of paper towels and only one small trash bag, one extra roll of toilet paper for 4 bathrooms, and some itty bitty plastic bags. The kitchen utensils were understocked and all knives were dull. We ended up asking management for a can opener, a spatula, and laundry detergent. None of the beds had top sheets, which could be found folded in a closet, except we never did find one for the king bed in the master bedroom. The small beach across the street is gross - lots of seaweed and little or no sand. This is true of all the "beaches" between Spott's Beach on the south side and Rum Point on the north side, so be prepared to drive if you want swim & walk on the sand. Pack your lunch and BYOB - the food & drink prices at beachside restaurants are hefty. A rum punch at Rum Point beach bar will cost you US$17 after tax and before tip. A friend advised us to stock up on bottled alcohol at the Duty Free shop before arriving- do this and you won't regret it!
Grand Cayman's East End is on the quiet side of the island. Short distance to small shops, restaurants, liquor and beer stores, several local dive shops with the ability to book water sports, and the lovely local culture.
