Tropical breezes, ocean view and sunny white sand beaches make this an ideal vacation rental house. It is furnished in a traditional island style with a fully equipped kitchen. Upstairs is a large ocean-facing master suite with a California King, an adjoining sun-room with two twin beds and a deck with a 180-degree view towards the ocean. Downstairs are two additional bedrooms each with a queen bed and its own bathroom. The kitchen, dining room and central family room offer plenty of space, sunlight and comfort for all.

Centrally located in the quaint 19th century plantation town of Kapaa on the east shore of Kauai, you will find a variety of activities. A beach protected by a barrier reef is within walking distance. This uncrowded beach is called "Baby Beach" by the locals because of the gentle surf and safety afforded to smaller children. Other beaches of Kapaa offer windsurfing and kite surfing or enjoy the many surfing spots on the east shore of Kauai.

Also, explore Hawaii's amazing sea life by snorkeling and scuba diving or enjoy fishing. Hike the trails of Nounou (the Sleeping Giant), a Forest Reserve that rewards your effort with views of the entire island. Paddle a kayak up Kauai's Wailua River, one of Hawaii's few navigable rivers and explore the famous Fern Grotto, Secret Falls and the canyons of the Wailua River interior. Golfers appreciate being so close to top-ranked Wailua Golf Course. In the evenings, walk to historic Kapaa Town and enjoy local Hawaiian food and a variety of fine restaurants.

Enjoy easy access to all the best that Kauai offers. Hale Niu is centrally located to the Na Pali Coast, Princeville and charming Hanalei to the north, Poipu Beach to the south and famous Waimea Canyon to the west.

After a busy day, unwind and relax in the private and peaceful setting of Hale Niu. Sit on the spacious veranda of this traditional Hawaiian-style Kauai vacation rental home and watch the coconut trees sway in a soft tropical breeze.

About Kauai Vacation Rentals

It all began with a vision. A desire to share the magical island of Kauai with the world. And, founder, Lucy Kawaihalau, has dedicated her life to that goal through Kauai Vacation Rentals. "In a vacation rental home or condo, you really feel like you're living here," reflects Lucy, "so bringing together home owners and guests to achieve the 'best fit' is only a part of our distinguished reputation. Our responsibilities are twofold. For our owners, we provide the best management and maintenance services so they can rest easy, knowing their homes are meticulously cared for, since they may be thousands of miles away from their investment. For our guests, we believe they should be treated like royalty." And, it is the respect for the guest that gained Kauai Vacation Rentals recognition throughout the world. A friendly team dedicated to serving the needs of guests, with attention to all the details, makes it all possible. "A vacation to Kauai is so meaningful," adds Lucy. "For some, it may be the trip of a lifetime. For others, it may be a yearly event. This is a splendid place to relax. Our guests are 'energized' when they go home. That's what we mean when we say, 'magical Kauai.' " This genuine business model embodies the Hawaiian word, 'Aloha,' and it has gained much recognition within the industry and business venues, including numerous awards. Many glowing articles have been written, from Kauai Business & Real Estate Magazine, Hawaii Business, and internationally distributed Travel & Leisure Magazine to famed Fortune Magazine. In fact, Lucy Kawaihalau was personally honored with coveted awards from the Small Business Administration and Kauai Chamber of Commerce for her successful business achievements. Lucy concludes, "I am deeply grateful for our recognition and awards. Yet, it is the phone call, with heartfelt and glowing remarks about a visit to Kauai from a satisfied guest that brings us great joy. Therein lies our greatest achievement."

Huge space, right on bike bath, convenient base for seeing the whole island

  • 5 of 5

For our extended family of 7, this house was a spacious dream in a quiet neighborhood at the south end of the bike path that runs all the way to Donkey Beach. The lot is huge, and the house is set back from the road with a full lanai. There are plenty of bathroom with great water pressure, and the maintenance company quickly took care of the one minor issue. Note! If you have not stayed on Kauai before, you probably are unaware of the feral chickens that roam the island. There are several local roosters who crow at all hours, sometimes directly under the bedrooom windows. The teens slept right through—some of the adults did not. Bring your earplugs, no matter where you stay on island! The only possible niggle with the house is that this listing says there is a/c in the master bedroom, but I don’t think there actually is.

WOW

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed every second of our stay here! Gorgeous, spacious home with a location that couldn't be beat. We were steps away from the ocean and a wonderful running and biking path. Snorkel and beach gear was available for use, as were towels, linens and a washer and dryer. We truly felt at home here and can't wait to return again!

Wonderful family retreat

  • 5 of 5

We went to Kauai for a family reunion and family vacation. We have many family living on Kauai. There was plenty of space of our family of five adults and one teenager for both private retreat and together time. It was a perfect gathering spot for my extended family. The large patio was ideal for getting together for meals or just sitting around to "talk story". Although the property is not on the ocean front, it is beautiful with the mini coconut grove with lots of cool ocean breezes. We were very comfortable even at night. During our stay, the man hired by the owner to maintain the coconut trees came by to trim a tree in the back. He shared a couple coconuts with us which was a very special treat! Fuji Beach is just a short block away. There were monk seals resting on the beach a couple days we were there. Old Kapaa Town is an easy walk from the house. I enjoyed getting up to watch the sunrise, then walking to Pono Market for my morning latte. We would definitely stay at Hale Niu again! Wish we were still there.

Great little house and awesome location!

  • 4 of 5

Our two families (5 adults and 3 young kids) stayed a week at Hale Niu and had a great time. The house was plenty big for all of us, and it was incredibly helpful to have 3 bathrooms (1 per room). The big lawn was perfect for our kids (4, 3, and 1.5), as was the baby beach which is about a 5 minute walk from the property. The house was perfectly centrally located for us (can walk to restaurants, stores, shops, and easy access to highway), but also quiet and private. Definitely a funky little island house, but its clean and nicely kept. Would totally recommend this place for families with young children. Great place!

Family reunion to celebrate our son's 50th Birthday

  • 4 of 5

We were still in East Coast mode on the first morning we arrived in Kapaa. Seven of us went to the beach to watch the sunrise. It was spectacular and the perfect beginning for our vacation. The Beach is only a three-minute walk from the house as is the charming town. The layout of the home was perfect for our family. After a few glitches were taken care of, we were able to enjoy the home and traveling the Island to many wondereful places. The Catamaran Ride up the Napoli Coast was spectacular. We saw the whales swimming and the dolphins truly were jumping out of the water. It is easy to go on and on about the wonderful things to see and do on the Island ... the Waimea Canyon Lookout, Waipoo Falls, Polihale Beach, Hanalei, the amazing surfers on the beach, Kilauea Lighthouse, bike riding along the Coconut Coast, etc., etc.; none will forget the Luau at Smith Family Farm and the boat ride along the Wailua River. After all excursions, we could relax and enjoy the comforts of the lovely and charming house we were able to call home for 9 days.
