Overview

About the property

Villa Piton is an uncommonly beautiful private Caribbean vacation residence, built by the legendary American architect John DiPol to perfectly reflect the splendor, serenity, and tradition of the tropical paradise and culture surrounding it. Located between the majestic Pitons, which are designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, the villa creates enduring memories of the perfect vacation.

It is certain, this is a place unrivaled. We owe tribute for the architecture to the American designer, John DiPol, who built the Villa Piton as his masterpiece and private residence. Employing DiPol’s trademark “open air”-concept, the home is the spirit of DiPol incarnate, expressing its rich surroundings by fusing the lush natural landscape with native St. Lucian materials and furniture to engender a space without bounds.

From the first moment you set eyes on the Villa Piton, your soul will find serenity. The open tranquility of the villa resounds in its nuances and design, as the natural St. Lucian granite and cedar woodwork rise gently from its space high upon the ridge between St. Lucia’s most celebrated Pitons, as if nature had intended it.

Beyond the breathtaking waterfront surroundings, unparalleled view, and plethora of amazing local attractions, your villa stay features an amazing array of standard amenities, accommodations, and features. In addition, our professional and friendly villa staff can help you to tailor your ultimate dream vacation experience, including home-cooked, traditional gourmet Creole meals, special event planning assistance, and a wealth of other concierge services.

Born and raised in Kutztown Pennsylvania, I attended Kutztown University and hold a Bachelor of Fine Art in Painting and Photography with a Minor in Art History and an Honorary Phd in Law for Kutztown. We are manufacturing jewelers by trade and passion and travelers by intent. My wife Lisa takes care of many of the Villa's details including plantings, fabrics and furniture.

Kermit O. purchased this villa in 2007

Why Kermit O. chose Soufriere

Villa Piton is entirely unique as it sits squarely on the ridge between both the Gros Piton and the Petit Piton in a World Heritage Site with very few other homes or dwellings. At close to 1000 feet elevation you are peering at the Petit Piton two and a quarter miles away roughly half way up its southern flank. Its a rare and unique perspective when most homes claim to have a Piton view. Villa Piton sits on ONE PITON staring at the OTHER!

What makes this villa unique

Villa Piton is one of only a very small number of private homes within the Piton Management Area, a World Heritage Site designated in 2004. Villa Piton actually is built atop the Piton Mitan Ridge linking the two pitons. In effect, the villa is actually built between the two mountains and not simply looking at them from afar. This perfect perspective is unrivaled for grandeur and breathtaking views 24/7!

Notes:
From the beaches at Sugar Beach to the restaurants at Ladera and Hotel Chocolat just miles away, Villa Piton is centrally located near the world famous Hot Springs, Drive Through Volcano, Rainbow Falls and Old Capital of St Lucia, Soufriere. Snorkel at Sugar Beach or Anse Chastenet at a fraction of what staying there would set your wallet back. And in the process, enjoy the privacy of a incredible and grand villa sitting on an acre of World Heritage land 1000 feet in the clouds and peering out to sea 20 miles every day. For honeymoons its the top of the list. You are the neighbors. For families, its a once in a lifetime getaway with the kids. And for everyone in between, its the one place you will never forget and always want to return to because honestly, there is nothing like it anywhere in the world. The day we walked onto the property for the very first time we were told its a million dollar home with a billion dollar view. I suggest you get a ticket and find out for yourself!

Incredible property

  • 5 of 5

Villa Piton is a true gem! The views are amazing and the property is quite unique with a lot of open space, a fantastic master bedroom and nicely decorated throughout. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Mary's culinary skills are very good and we would recommend everybody to try them out at least a couple of times. Kermit was a pleasure to deal with and probably the fastest to respond of all the owners we have ever dealt with on HomeAway or VRBO. Thank you for letting us use your wonderful house!

Very nice experience

  • 5 of 5

Sandra and I spent a week at Villa Piton, and found it to be secluded, luxurious, and accessible, and we loved working with the house staff to learn much more about St. Lucians than we would have learned if staying at a resort. Would consider returning in a year or so, hopefully to share with others.

Best views in Soufriere!

  • 5 of 5

My family just returned from Villa Piton late last night. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for our trip. We knew the view would be amazing from the pictures, but it was even more stunning in person. Mary and Gregory treated us like family whenever they came to upkeep the villa. We were told by the owner Kermit, that Mary's cooking was amazing and that we should try it at least one night so we chose to have her cook the day we arrived since we had a long travel day. The food was so good, we had her cook again the night before we left! We ate at Hotel Chocolat, Ladera, The Mango Tree and Bamboo Restaurant and Mary's cooking was still some of our favorite meals. Blossom checked in with us at the beginning and end of out stay to make sure everything was perfect. They are all the sweetest people. We spent a good part of every day at Villa Piton but highly recommend doing the Tree to Bar experience at Hotel Chocolat and Castaway Tours with Paul and his sister for a history on Carib culture, a cooking lesson and food cooked on the beach in clay pots. Tet Paul Nature Trail was fun, but honestly, the views at the villa were just as good! We chose Soufriere rather than Castries to be in a more quiet area and don't regret it one bit! The road to Villa Piton is VERY narrow and winding, so if you are nervous about the driving, you may want to have Ben's Taxi take you out. We got used to it at the end, but it was quite the experience to say the least!

We were sad to say goodbye to Villa Piton. It was truly paradise!

Fabulous villa with great view!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Villa Piton for 2 weeks and loved every minute of it, from the incredible views (you're up high positioned between the two pitons with at least one rainbow appearing per day) to the breezy, open air architecture of the house. While daily temperatures were consistently in the high 20's Celsius the constant breeze made for a very comfortable stay. We slept every night with our shutters open. It was heavenly!

We were three people (a couple and a friend) and the layout was perfect for us. We stayed in the master suite and our friend had her own bedroom and bath in her own mini wing of the house. The open air concept is great. It really does feel like you're a part of the rain forest, especially at night with the frogs chirping (don't worry, it's not that loud). We shared many a glass of wine in the evenings sitting in front of the open doors watching the sun set and pondering life.

The villa is in the southern part of the island, which we appreciated given its distance from the big resort hotels. This area is much less over run than the north and we would definitely recommend it for the privacy. There are resorts nearby but they are not typical. Most are relatively upscale and consist of small villas rather. The plus side is being able to eat out at some very fine establishments. We did rent a jeep to be able to do sightseeing but used Ben's taxi service on the few evenings we went out for dinner. We were worried about driving the dark, narrow, winding roads at night.

Two of the nearby resorts (Sugar Beach and Anse Chastanet) will rent you chairs if you feel like having a beach day. Both have ample facilities for eating and drinking as well. You can also book a boat tour to take you up the coast to Castries from either beach. Both beaches were great but were very different. Sugar Beach is closer and is more upscale and therefore more expensive but the view is incredible and the food is spectacular. Anse Chastanet has a walking path to Anse Mamin, the resort's more secluded beach which was less expensive in terms of both chair rentals and food. We would recommend both.

I could go on but will end by recommending that you have Mary and her granddaughter cook for you at least a few times while staying at Villa Piton. She will provide fresh fish and wonderful local side dishes. We loved eating in and relaxing with great local food. Mary and her granddaughter are sweethearts. We look forward to returning one day!

Located just 8 miles south of Soufriere, between the Pitons, Villa Piton is close to numerous attractions for all ages and yet privately located at the same time. Its a quick 15 minute drive to Soufriere for supplies. Along the way you may discover mangos are falling making it the perfect time to collect some for Mango Daiquiris later that evening! Or you may spy some nutmeg or vanilla growing by the side of the road. We love to travel and explore everything thats growing and thriving in St Lucia. Its a jungle and parts are rainforest. It can shower little bits each day or not at all for weeks. Its always changing and always 85F and windy. We love the temperate climate and the warm caribbean waters for swimming. Snorkeling is a passion for our family and there's plenty to see and experience under water as above. There are local fishing villages nearby to obtain fresh tuna or red snapper for the lunch or evening meal and we enjoy watching the men bring the catch in. All in all its a wonderful country and our villa sits proudly in a wonderful part of it.
