Quiet Front Line 3 Bedroom Cottage On The Beach & Within 5 Mins Walk Of Town

Sea views do not come much better than this. A great opportunity to holiday in a former coastguard cottage located in a tucked away setting, whist still enjoying easy access to the town's amenities and transport links. With spectacular and far reaching sea views across Dawlish beach out towards both Lyme bay and Torbay, the cottage is arranged over two floors and comprises kitchen, lounge, dining area, a master bedroom and two smaller bedrooms, all with double beds. With front and rear gardens there is also a handy storeroom where beach gear and bikes can be kept. And unique to most holiday properties we provide both BT Sport and all SKY Sports channels to the living room.

The house sits 10 metres down from the Exeter Road, so there is no road noise and no parking within a 2-3 minute walk of the property. The house also sits 10 metres above the sea wall and so affords fantastic views whilst being protected from the big sea storms that can hit from time to time; the cottages have never been flooded in their history.

For those of a nervous disposition, the wall to the terrace garden has a 10 metre drop on the sea side down to the railway line, so toddlers, children, teenagers and irresponsible adults need to be both watched and aware.

However, all that being noted we guarantee these views will captivate you as they have, and still do, for us.

Peter owns a design firm in London, and his wife Shelagh is a professional artist to MA level; their experience and taste has been imposed onto this house for the benefit of everyone including themselves (when they get the chance to stay at the property themselves). They have three teenage daughters, and the whole family love the unique variety this area has to offer.

I first went through Dawlish by train with my Dad in the late 70s and just fell in love with it. I have always wanted a seaside getaway, quiet but central and front-line; Dawlish and this house just ticks all the boxes for us. Picturesque town, thriving high street, clean beaches, wonderful walks and just endless things to do both at sea and inland. And as a regular user of Home Away, we know what the holiday maker wants. Taste, cleanliness, thoughtful design and great value. We are confident you will fall in love with this house and its location, and we want you to experience the wonder we still experience every time we go there.

What makes this cottage unique

We waited around 3 years for the right property to come up. It had to be the right size, the right location and have the right outlook. This has it all, and whether its the middle of winter with a sea storm in full force, or the height of summer with tranquil sea breezes and soft waves lapping the Devonian red sand, this cottage will ensure you fall in love with everything inside and outside of the doorstep.

Beautiful, modern, clean, quiet, well equipped apartment in a STUNNING location!

The apartment was just lovely. We arrived and found it without trouble as the house book provided gave all the information needed. It is far from the road so pack light but this adds to the charm! It is secluded and so peaceful. The apartment inside is furnished to a very high standard and we all really appreciate the little touches such as tea, coffee and milk on arrival; bath towels being supplied and how nice and clean the house was. The kids LOVED the balcony, the view is fantastic and I think they ran out to see every single train that passed by!

It's location is great, a lovely quick walk along the sea wall to the town, we shopped at the co op which is in the centre of town.

The beach is really nice, for us the tide went out in the afternoon and the boys enjoyed rock pooling and paddling.

We caught the train a couple of days, again it's just a stone's throw from the apartment.

The apartment had all you could need, WiFi, cable TV, a great shower and two fridges... One for food and one for wine! Perfect!

Peter was really helpful and contacted us during our stay to ensure all was good.

I would definitely recommend 9 Coastguards, it's a fantastic base for exploring!

Lovely property with stunning views.

My husband and I spend a long weekend here with my daughter and her partner. Every conceivable item you could possibly want is to be found at the property, it was very well equipped. The place was spotless on our arrival and the owner very helpful. The ''piece de resistance'' however was the view - absolutely outstanding.

Perfect Home in Dawlish

The cottage was everything we hoped for and more... Situated at the foot of a cliff down from the road and out front only the railway line, the beach and the sea - you feel like on an island away from everything. And yet it's only a few minutes to the shops and excitements of Dawlish... The cottage itself is tastefully furnished, perfect kitchen, large living/ dining area and a wonderful terrace, all with a stunning sea view. The three bedrooms upstairs are small, but sufficient - two have the unbelievable sea view - I loved falling asleep to the sounds of the waves and wake up looking at the sea... I'd love to return one day!

Ich habe wenig Zeit deshalb auf deutsch.

Es war ein wundervoller Urlaub. Das Haus ganz großartig, alles hat super funktioniert, wir hatten einen grandiosen Ausblick aufs Meer.

Das Haus wunderschön eingerichtet und sauber, mit toller Terrasse, kurzen Wegen zum Strand, keine Parkplatzprobleme. Die Vermieter sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Sehr gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten auch zu Fuß.

Wir würden jederzeit sehr gerne wieder hinfahren.

Perfect house and location with stunning views!

The photographs on the website don't do the cottage justice; the property is furnished to a high standard with every item you could possibly require and not forgetting the stunning views! We certainly felt like we chose the perfect place to spend our holiday. Definitely use the local butchers and bakery they are good value for money and excellent quality. Just wish we had booked two weeks instead of one.

Walk east along the sea wall to Starcross and take a boat to Exmouth. Or walk west along the sea wall to Teignmouth marina. Hire a boat and go sailing or fishing. Take a train to Exeter or Plymouth and go shopping. Visit Dawlish Warren nature reserve just 1km east. Go inland 8 miles onto Dartmoor. Or just watch the various steam trains that prevail in the summer months, the Dawlish Air Show in August each year or the twinkling boats and stars at night from your own private patio.
