Double Bay is one of Sydney's premium suburbs and you have everything at your doorstep from cafes/restaurants to bountiful shopping as well as nearby parks. Double Bay has the most expensive real-estate in Australia and takes its name from the bay of Sydney Harbour. It refers to the two geographical formations between Point Piper and Darling Point, which are interrupted by a miniature point in between. The eastern part is also known as Blackburn Cove. Colloquially it is often referred to as "Double Pay", a term coined in the 1980s, due to the high income of people living there, and the nature of the shopping area which features high-end fashion labels.
The commercial area runs along New South Head Road and extends along surrounding streets of Knox Street, Cross Street and Bay Street. It features hotels and shopping, restaurants, services, supermarket, and coffee shops.
Double Bay features a ferry wharf for Eastern Suburbs ferry services. The ferry is very frequent and is only a short trip into the city and Opera House. Bus services operate via New South Head Road which is only a two minute walk from the apartment and can be taken either to Watson’s Bay or directly into the City. This is the closest public transport and the closest bus stop in New South Head Rd is only a two minute walk from the apartment.
