About Brenda and Mel Cohen
Mel and Brenda Cohen are both retired and are natives of Morganton, NC. Located 28 miles from Morganton, the location of this Jonas Ridge vacation home was perfect and the cool summer temperatures lured us to this area. This has been a great get-away for our family and we hope it will be for yours. We are 30 minutes away, and are available if the need arises.
Brenda and Mel Cohen purchased this House in 2003
Why Brenda and Mel Cohen chose Newland
We had been looking for a Mt home with long range views for a number of years but the the homes is our price range might have winter views but not really what we were looking for. Finally, we saw this home, and although the trees were blocking the views, we could see it's potential. The house had a great layout and was in a rural setting. We made an offer that day and the rest is history. Although it is a short distance from where we live, the culture of the locals, the lifestyle, and the weather make this a very unique place to visit.
What makes this House unique
Of course, we loved the beautiful Mountain views, but as a gardener, I was excited about all of the native plants and wildflowers. "Gardens of the Blue Ridge" is less than a mile from our home and they have been selling native flowers and plants all over the world since 1896. Since we bought our home in 2003, my flower gardens have expanded and the butterflies and hummingbirds are abundant. Feel free to cut and use the flowers during your stay.

The title came from words my daughter used to describe our home for this past weekend. The house itself was spotless and very well appointed and the views from the upper and lower decks were splendid. When we arrived at that house, the first words I heard were, "Oh, look at the flowers!" The summer wildflower garden was remarkable and obviously very well cared for. I'm sure that the spring and early summer are just as beautiful as our time in early August and would love to see it in bloom sometime during those seasons. We had three generations in our group and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their time at this wonderful house. I would love to return someday perhaps for an even longer stay. Thanks to the Cohens for allowing us to stay at their property and for being so helpful in everyway.
Location, location, location! The views are spectacular! Even when the weather isn't perfect, something about the view will be. We really felt we were visiting someone's home, not just in a weekend rental. The hosts were very helpful, ensuring we had a great stay We'll be sure to look this one up again.
Beautiful house on a serene locale
We had a very good experience staying at Mel and Brends’s Property. We were there for almost 4 days and absolutely no complaints. The check in was smooth and the overall rapport with the host was awesome! We did not face any issues during our stay and would certainly recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy the wilderness of Linville!!
Thanks Mel and Brenda once again for letting us use your property!
Great place to stay with your family!

Great view and very quiet
We had a great time with family. The house was very well situated on the side of the mountain with a breathtaking view. Definitely recommend a 4 wheel vehicle if bad weather is expected.
