Once in a lifetime you will get a chance to stay in a magnificent location such as Shorecliffe House. This home overlooks the stunningly beautiful Glandore Harbour in West Cork. It is tucked away in a private little world of its own, yet it is only a 2 minute walk to the closest village pub. This is the ideal place for an extended family get-together or for a group of friends, where everyone can have their own space, yet you can all still be in the one place.
Shorecliffe House consists of the Main House, Mews and Apartment which combined, can accommodate up to 20 people in 12 bedrooms.
The main house has all the old worlde grandeur you would expect from a countryside retreat. The decor is old style comfort meets modern additions. All the windows were recently replaced by the owners to ensure you are staying in a cosy enclave, and the wifi is really strong.
The main drawing room is spacious and really comfortable with a welcoming open fire. There is also a family room downstairs ideal for children, with a large comfortable couch, room to play and a large flat screen TV.
The dining room is large enough to seat up to 18 people at any one time. There is one large table to seat 12 and another table can be added to the end of this to seat an additional 6 people.
The kitchen is really only for cooking in and doesn't have the space to seat more than about 4 people however it is well equipped with a 6 ring hob and a double oven, coffee maker and large fridge/freezer. A utility room houses the washing machine and tumble dryer which services all the accommodation at Shorecliffe. An interesting feature is the downstairs outdoor toilet!
All the bedrooms in the Main House are located upstairs on the first and second floors. In all there are three double bedrooms (two with ensuite and one with a sink in it), one twin bedroom (ensuite) and one single bedroom with a sink. It can sleep up to 9 people. There is a lovely large family bathroom on the first floor with a bath and separate shower. Many of the bedrooms offer incredible views over the Bay.
It is important to note that while Shorecliffe House is a great house in an incredible setting, the Mews and the Apartment are not fitted or furnished to the same high standard.
Right beside the main house is the Mews. It is literally just steps from the back door leading from the kitchen of the main house. Ideal for extended family, the Mews has 4 more bedrooms - two single bedrooms and two double bedrooms sleeping up to 6 people. There is a family bathroom downstairs and another upstairs and all four bedrooms have a sink in them. The Mews has its own small kitchen and seating area downstairs and the bedrooms upstairs offer wonderful seaviews.
Alongside the Mews is the 3 bedroom apartment. A balcony runs along the front of the apartment offering amazing views over the sea. It has a large sitting room with a long couch, open fire and flat screen TV in it perfect for a get-together. The apartment has two really comfortable double bedrooms and one single bedroom with a family bathroom. It can sleep up to 5 people. There is also a small kitchen with dining area. Please note that there are steps up to the apartment.
Shorecliffe House is set on 5 acres of private grounds offering fabulous panoramic views over Glandore Harbour below. The gardens are beautifully lawned and there is a private outdoor swimming pool (13 x 6 metres) with a hot tub, a private tennis court and a brand new children's play area for you to enjoy during your stay. You can swim in the sea from a small patch of private beach which leads from the gardens and if you like, you can enjoy some apples from your own personal orchard!
Glandore is a tiny village located in the heart of West Cork, just an hour’s drive from Cork International Airport (approximately a 5 hour drive from Dublin). It is acclaimed as one of the prettiest villages in Ireland. The literal translation of Glandore is “Harbour of Oaks”.
Due to its location right on the water and overlooking Glandore Harbour, the village is a very popular spot during the summer months for water sports enthusiasts. The Gulf Stream passes close to Glandore ensuring a mild climate all year round along with some very interesting and unusual plants and flowers.
It is unusual that Glandore Village does not have a shop (the closest is Centra in Union Hall) however it does offer some excellent restaurants and bars!
The busy fishing port of Union Hall is just 1.5km across the water from Glandore and is linked by a fascinating bridge.
The bustling town of Skibbereen is just 5 miles away.
