Our family stayed in Croyde Cottage for a long weekend in March, 2 adults and 4 children. The cottage was beautiful, very homely but spacious. Fantastic location, right in the heart of the village. We found the kitchen to be very well equipped, easy to cook a large family meal. The property was very clean and well maintained. We particularly enjoyed having a log fire! We have visited Croyde many, many times, and go there for relaxing weekends and proper "family" time which always includes walks on the beach, ice-creams and Sunday lunch at the pub! This is probably the best property we have stayed in, in Croyde, and we will definately be back!
Lovely cosy cottage with a log fire and plenty of room for six people! Walking distance to the pub! 2 minutes to the beach! Really homely and clean with lovely soft furnishings! Highly recommended.
2 adults, 4 Children, 5 nights
A nicely decorated and converted cottage with a pleasant outside space. Tucked away near the centre of the village, really handy for shops + pubs. Parking is a bit tricky in a larger car.
We had a fantastic week in Croyde Cottage, we booked for 6 people but ended up just 2 as our sons/partners could not get off work, the cottage is perfect, 3 large bedrooms and the showers are all powerful and the large kitchen is a dream. Lovely garden and the lounge is quaint and comfortable just perfect. Dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Everything like home from home. What made this cottage even more perfect was additional touches, not only towels and tea towels provided but extras, such as toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, dishwasher and washing powder tablets. they really have given attention to detail. The location was also perfect, right in Croyde Village, a few steps away from restaurants, and pubs. We had a slight problem with a few bulbs blown but when we advised them, we had an electrician sent round the following morning. If we could offer any advise to someone staying here, we would say take a torch as it is down a very narrow little road with no street lights, there was outside lights on the cottages but unfortunately they were not working whilst we were there?
Thank you for a fab week, we will be back
As soon as we opened the doors to the farmhouse, we felt at home. The property had everything we needed and more. Upon arrival, there was even a bottle of wine and packet of biscuits waiting for us, which was a great touch.
The farmhouse kitchen and garden were our favourite places to spend time together as a family. Every morning we would share breakfast together over the huge dining table, whilst making use of the range to cook our breakfast. The weather was amazing, which allowed us to have the doors open in the kitchen which led out on the courtyard and then the garden. My son adored exploring the space outside whilst we looked on from the gorgeous conservatory on the property. As previously mentioned, the weather was very kind to us, so we spent a lot of time at the local beach in Croyde and we also drove a little further to Saunton Sands. The days at the beach were glorious, my toddler loved playing in the sand and exploring the rock pools. Once we returned to the cottage, we would cosy up in the lounge and watch some TV, with the option to use the fireplace but the weather was very warm so we didn't get to experience it.
Once we retired to bed, we assumed my son would feel a little out of sorts on the first night, as he was away from home but after a long soak in the tub, in the family bathroom, my son went down to sleep in the twin room and didn't wake until the next morning at 8am (a lie-in for us). We also slept great in the master bedroom, the bed was very comfortable and the linen was fab too.
Each room had its own quaint view from the window. We also benefited greatly from the facilities at the cottage, such as the washer, tumble dryer and dishwasher, these are a necessity when you have a toddler.
The farmhouse was an absolute delight to stay in, my son adored exploring it, the area of Croyde is idyllic with chocolate box cottages, a lovely ice-cream parlour and great pub and restaurant and the beach is wonderful.
We have created some great memories and it was with a heavy heart that we had to leave the cottage but we will most definitely be back next year.
The properties are idyllically situated right in the heart of the picturesque Devon coastal village of Croyde, which has history that stretches over a thousand years to pre-saxon times. It is set in a small turning off St Mary's Road. Only 5 minutes walk to local amenities such as the shops, pubs, restaurants, surf shops, etc. Approx 10 minutes level walk to the beach.
Croyde in North Devon provides a wonderful holiday location in a beautiful setting bordered by National Trust land on one side and the UNESCO Braunton Burrows biosphere on the other.
Apart from Croyde beach there are three other fantastic sandy beaches to choose from ideally suited for surfing, sunbathing, kite flying and beachcombing etc, they are Saunton Sands, Putsborough and Woolacombe Bay.
The National Trust coastline and the Tarka Trail are perfect for walkers and places to visit from there include Lee Bay, which is ideal for sunbathing, rock climbing and shrimping and a pint in The Grampas, and Ilfracombe, which has a very nice working harbour and good restaurants and eateries.
Further afield are Barnstaple, 12 miles away, which is good for shopping and eating and Clovelly, which is a very old seaport, very quaint with donkeys being the only transport allowed through the village to the harbour - well worth a visit.
For falconry displays and sheepdog displays check local events.
Cycling is very popular in this area with lots of areas of interest to go to and the Tarka Trail is ideal for both walking and cycling.
