Photos and Description of this 6 bedroom holiday home in Nairn - Hillview House, Cawdor Village

Spacious and very comfortable 6 bedroom house with 4 bathrooms and large garden

Hillview House is a large detached house in a beautiful village setting, surrounded by a mature garden which is completely private and perfect for children and pets. The house is a newly furnished, spacious and extremely comfortable large holiday house in a truly stunning area.

Downstairs the entrance hall leads into the cosy sitting room with lovely marble fireplace and open fire. The sitting room is a lovely light room with three large bay windows leading into the dining room with solid oak dining table and leather covered dining chairs. There is an archway through to the large and well equipped kitchen with a pantry and cloakroom attached plus a back-door through to the sun porch. A doorway from the kitchen leads to the downstairs hallway with 3 large bedrooms, bathroom and playroom off.

Upstairs there are 3 more large bedrooms, 1 with a view to Cawdor Castle with en-suite and dressing room, a further large double room and a bedroom with twin beds.

Many great attractions and eating places nearby: Award winning Cawdor Tavern, serving excellent food, is close by in the village and there are many other great eating places nearby, from the Michelin starred Boath House in Auldearn (7 miles) to many pubs, restaurants, coffee shops and cafes serving great food in the Nairn area.

Landmark Activity Centre, Carrbridge - 34 miles, Culbin Forest RSPB Coastal Reserve - 5 miles, mountain biking and National Cycle Routes close by, castles and distilleries nearby, Speyside Whisky Trail, historical sites close by including Culloden, Fort George and Clave Cairns, Findhorn (picturesque fishing village, water sports and Eco village) - 19 miles.

Should you want to venture further then the fascinating Black Isle is only 30 minutes away and the dramatic West Coast is only an hour and a half drive away. If you visit in spring or autumn you may be lucky enough to see a display of one of nature's wondrous sights, the Northern Lights.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I am pleased to say that we had a fantastic time in Cawdor and exploring the surrounding area, and Hillview House was perfect - we had more than enough space, and it was good to be able to all cook/dine together.

Superb location and house

  • 5 of 5

All 12 of us had a wonderful break at Hillview House. It is extremely spacious and we had plenty room in the living and kitchen areas, whilst were able to "escape" to our rooms for a rest too! The local shop was friendly and well stocked, and the Cawdor Tavern was lovely for a special meal out. Both were within a minute's walk from the house. That said, it was such a peaceful location, no traffic noises at all. Great for dogs with a wooded walk a few minutes away on foot. Lots to do in the general area (Culloden, Fort George, Cairngorm funicular, Inverness, and Nairn beach to name a few!) and an excellent location for cyclists and walkers. Highly recommended! Thank you for a great time!

We were a large party on a family vacation. We arrived and were delighted with the house and the gardens.

Plenty of room and privacy even with 9 of us in the house. Location in the town of Cawdor was so perfect we were all sad to leave. The addition of the sun room was perfect as we could sit out late and not bother the neighbours with our chatter. Hope to return and spend another week.

Cawdor Village, nestled between the scenic Highlands and the spectacular Moray Coast makes an ideal place for either a relaxing peaceful break or an active, outdoor holiday all year round. With its good travel links and mild climate Nairnshire has attracted visitors from home and abroad, families to film stars, both in the past and present. The area has a huge diversity of beautiful scenery from mountains, moorland, rolling farmland to woodlands and a stunning coastline with rocky coves and long sandy beaches.

Cawdor is the ideal base for a huge array of activities - golfing, cycling, bird-watching, watersports, hill-walking, coastal walks, fishing - all are practically on the doorstep. The beautiful Moray Coast is just five miles away: the Moray Firth is famous for being home to one of only three populations of bottle nose dolphins in the UK.

Twelve of the Highlands' top twenty visitor attractions are within an hour's drive of this superb self-catering house.

Golf: Over 30 golf courses in a 60 mile radius. Many outstanding courses close by, from championship courses in Nairn, Forres and Dornoch to smaller undiscovered gems all along the Moray Coast.
