Located in the rural mountain village of St Julien en Beauchene, this lovely detached French holiday home sleeps up to eight and is perfect for a family holiday in summer, winter or any time of the year.

There is a large garage on the basement with further off-street parking in front of the house, and a large laundry/boot room also on the basement level.

The ground floor is open-plan with a very spacious living area, dining area and kitchen. There are plenty of books, board games and DVD's to keep everyone happy on a winter's evening and an enormous wood-burning stove which gives out amazing heat! There are also radiators throughout the house but believe us, you won't need them. Patio doors lead to the large, rustic garden and BBQ area.

Upstairs there are three lovely spacious bedrooms, all with double beds and two with additional single beds making it an ideal holiday home for families. There is also a very large family bathroom upstairs, in addition to the large shower room on the ground floor and two WC. There is also a studio bedroom downstairs with a comfortable double sofa bed that can be made available if required...

At the foot of a beautiful plateau and on the edge of the Durbon Forest, our lovely home offers an access point to both the Alps to the North and East, and the valleys of Provence stretching out to the south and the west.

National hiking routes GR93 and GR94 are within easy reach, along with many other local paths. The tourist offices in Lus la Croix Haute and Veynes have details of these and other walks. Local walking maps are provided!

Take a dip in one of the many lakes, reservoirs and stunning rivers (the local Gorges des Meouges attract visitors from all over Europe for the knock-out backdrop to your family swim, plunge-pools, Roman bridges and waterfalls: if you do one thing this summer, visit this place).

Visit Grenoble for its beautiful old town, boutique shopping, high street brands (if you need your fix) and a cable-car trip to the top of the old town for lunch with an awe-inspiring view in the panoramic restaurant.

Why Simon Difazio chose Montbrand

The property is family owned and we just want to rent it so that it pays its own bills and not as a business. After spending too much time looking for the illusive tumble down farmhouse we took the advice of the locals who all gave us the same message, "insulation insulation insulation...!" So we bought the land in 2002 and in 2003 we had a local builder construct a modern well insulated house in the local style with the view to using it for family holidays etc. The house was finished in 2004 and we have enjoyed it every since.

What makes this chalet unique

The house is not rented as a business so we hope that it has a cosy feel to it.

The surrounding area is very varied from beautiful mountain scenery to forested walks and meandering rivers.

The local area has plenty of amenities.

Great Skiing locations in winter from local family slopes to high multi run resorts all within easy reach!

***The television is isolated and is for DVD playback ONLY*** ***We DO NOT have a wifi facility, there is however good 3G/4G coverage and the local hotel has free wifi in the bar*** There is a lovely life guarded pool in Lus La Croix Haute during the summer months with a toddler and baby pool as well. Nice place in nice area

We had a great time at these place.

The chalet had a full equipment and we had lot of space in the rooms. Verty strategis location close to nice trekkings.

Standard confort. The entrance path could get some improvments but it doesn't affect the convenience of the house.

Groot huis met alle voorzieningen. 10 min lopen van 3 locaties waar je kunt eten en wat kunt drinken.

Prachtig uitzicht op de bergen.

Het huis is netjes, schoon, goed uitgerust.

In the winter-time, Chez Difazio is a perfect place to take the family. Ski at the local Lus La Jarjatte, or take the short drive to the very popular resort of Super Devoluy. If you like family skiing, you have 6 local Drome ski stations to choose from, drive to Les Deux Alpes or Chamrousse for a day's skiing, then back to the village for some vin chaud & a pizza from La Taverne.

In summer, take a hike down the Gorge Des Gats, go trout fishing in the local (renowned) Buech, drive through the Drome valleys to visit the amazing Chatillon en Diois (we highly recommend the festival of Arts and Wine), or sunbathe by one of the many Plan D'Eaus - mountain lakes and pools with beaches, pedalos and bars! It's an amazing feeling to be lying on a beach surrounded by mountain peaks on a balmy summer day. And the summer storms which roll in at 4 pm and leave just as quickly are spectacular. Then there's tree-top adventures, canyoning, VTT, or just relax in the garden.

Other Activities: Gliding and paragliding in nearby Aspres Sur Buech

Golf: Gap Bayard is an 18 hole golf course 6 km north of Gap and easy to get to from your holiday home, Chez Difazio.

Ski: Local ski resorts:

La Jarjatte (small and friendly, perfect for young families) 10 minutes away, 1 red run, 5 blue runs and a nursery slope, plus a brilliant ESF ski school.

Super Devoluy & La Joue de Loup (very popular) 35 min.

Orcieres (again an extremely popular resort destination) 60 min.

Chamrousse - 90 min but worth a day out.

Les Deux Alpes - 90 min but again well worth it.

Gap Ceuze (a bit 1960s in a cool, retro way) 35 min.
