Stunning and luxurious, La Folie is a spacious Victorian town house located in the heart of Fowey on the principal waterfront road a few minutes walk from town, a few minutes from the nearest beach (White House) and 8 min walk to enchanting Readymoney Cove. Set on four floors with two twin rooms, one double and two bathrooms, the house has been refurbished with elements of the contemporary interior whilst retaining many original features such as decorative fireplaces and a pretty ironwork balcony. The beautiful contemporary kitchen/diner (Beautiful Kitchens Magazine June 2010) is fully equipped and also includes flat screen TV and Rayburn.

Whatever the season, the first floor living room is the perfect place to relax on the comfy leather sofa, whilst enjoying beautiful views of the harbour. Or take your drinks out onto the extensive decked roof terrace of wood, glass and stainless steel and just gaze out to sea.

For those who are seeking some real excitement on holiday, why not consider learning how to drive a powerboat or charter a boat. The two day course RYA National Powerboat Certificate Level 2 makes a great gift solution (teenagers should be 14+) and is also recognised throughout Europe. We have teamed up with Fowey Maritime Centre who will offer a 10% discount to La Folie guests. see www.foweymaritimecentre.co.uk.

We are able to accommodate one extra child on a daybed in our twin bedroom number three. We are also able to configure twin bedroom number two as a double bedded room. Included in your rental fee is some cleaning equipment e.g. dish washing tablets, washing up liquid, soap and some essential groceries. Hair dryer, iron and ironing board provided.

Fowey's lively atmosphere, interesting little shops and galleries plus a bustling quayside is sure to attract visitors of all ages and interests all year round. The town is famed for its strong connection with author Daphne du Maurier and honours her with a Festival of Words and Music each May. Other literary connections include Sir Arthur Quiller Couch (Q) to whom there is a memorial and Kenneth Grahame who was married in Fowey. Local amenities are excellent with many restaurants and pubs, golf courses, sailing, canoeing, fishing, walking and wildlife opportunities plus Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and National Trust properties nearby.

  • Bathroom 1 is a contemporary slate wet room with rain shower, bath with shower, sink and WC. Bathroom 2 is a shower room with large shower cubicle, sink and WC. An outside shower with hot and cold feed for rinsing off sand and wetsuits, etc., is located by the front door.

Each room has overhead lighting and reading lamps. Beds are made up with duvets and both feather and synthetic pillows are available. Bedroom 2 can be made into a double bed. Bedroom 3 also has a day bed which can be made into an extra child's bed - by arrangement only.

Notes:
Due to some period features such as the front balcony the property is not suitable for young children of toddler age. Age 7+ recommended. Babes in arms are very welcome. The four floor layout may make the property difficult for the elderly or infirm. La Folie does not have designated parking but street parking is available. You are able to unload outside the property then move to one of the three car parks located in Fowey. Closest is 5 min walk away.

Great property, great location

The house was lovely and full of character as well as all the mod cons. WE really liked the quirky layout of the house and the kids loved the bedroom at the top of the house. Fowey is a lovely little seaside town and the house is centrally located so it's not far from anything; easy to walk out at night for some food and a drink.

Would stay here again.

Great stay!

Our recent stay at La Folie was superb. We really enjoyed living in this wonderful home where every room was beautifully decorated and furnished adding enormously to our holiday experience. We ate in most evenings in the very well equipped kitchen and it was a joy to draw back the doors to the outside patio area. The views from both balconies were stunning and as the weather was very kind to us during our stay, we often relaxed there with a good book and a coffee - or a glass of wine in the evening. So relaxing - just what we needed. We couldn't have found a more perfect place to stay than Fowey and we found that La Folie's location was brilliant. It's a truly wonderful place to spend a holiday with everything on your doorstep - beach, harbour, cafes, bars, restaurants, shops - all in a gorgeous setting. We alternate our holidays with the uk and trips abroad exactly for this reason - you can't beat this country when the weather is kind! There was plenty to do and see in the area - we particularly liked The Eden Project, Mevagissey and Port Isaac - and there were wonderful views from the coastal path. But most of all we enjoyed our days lazing around the house and Fowey. The owner and staff were pleasant and helpful - thanks to all. We hope to come back one day!

Beauthful house full of charm and character

We had a fabulous two week stay in La Folie.

We were very sad to leave. The house is in a perfect spot, a few minutes from the main centre of Fowey and yet far enough away to

experience the tranquility of the estuary.

The house is equipped with everything you need for a perfect holiday.

Nice house with great sea views !

lovely house in good condition with everything you need for great holiday , perfect location within a few minutes walk of the village shops restaurants and bars as well as Readymoney beach at the end of the esplanade.

Kids loved the beach and swimming out to the pontoon in the lovely little cove and there's also a small shop and toilets !

Couldn't think of anything to fault the accommodation on , parking was a quite a way (15 min walk) from the property if you couldn't get on the road nearby but that's just par for the course in a small fishing village and we didn't mind the walk.

All in all great house in good location well worth a visit.

Stylish and Luxurious

We love staying at La Folie. This is our 5th stay and we always look forward to returning. The house is stylish and funky with everything you need. The sea views are fabulous from the sitting room and the sheltered sun trap decking. I am writing this reclining on a chaise longe gazing out to sea! The owner, Beverley, is a pleasure to deal with. If you book La Folie you will not be disappointed.

The Fowey Estuary is regarded as one of the most charming and unspoilt parts of England's South Coast.

Perhaps the most famous resident was Daphne du Maurier who spent much of her life in the area and a popular Literary Festival is held in May each year in celebration of her work. The Fowey Royal Regatta which takes place every year in the third week of August is another popular event in the sailing calendar. Many famous gardens and National Trust properties are under half an hour away. These include The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project. Other activities include great walking, sailing, canoeing, fishing and golf.

For those that just want to 'potter' about there are plenty of options such as leisurely shopping in the town's interesting boutiques, galleries and gift shops, a river cruise or a stroll to Readymoney Beach and the cliffs beyond. Not many places can match Fowey's natural beauty but nearby towns include Lostwithiel, St Mawes, Polperro and Truro.
