The Manor Manciano in Maremma, a large and historic farmhouse immersed in the untouched Tuscan countryside at the top of its own hill, lies close to the Thermal Baths of Saturnia. It is located at the end of a long private road and is surrounded by woods. Its large garden includes an amphitheatre and shady areas for the summer.
The Manor lies 1 kilometre down from the hilltop town of Manciano towards the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Argentario promontory. Though in Tuscany, it is closer to Rome and its airport than to Florence.
The mediaeval stone building, owned by the same family for many generations, has been completely renovated by its current dwellers without losing its farmhouse charm. The wooden roof beams, the open fireplaces and the variety of angled ground planes of the rooms - none like the other - can still be admired today.
A second part of the house dates from the 19th Century and the large barn now used as the studio was added about 100 years ago. In the past all the ground floor was given over to cattle and the family lived upstairs. Today on the ground floor you will find two bedrooms, a studio, a library, which can also be used as an event space, as well as a generous kitchen with an open fireplace and a vaulted living room with access to the terrace and garden. Upstairs you find a bathroom with bathtub and shower, as well as two bedrooms. There are two kitchens (one inside with an open fireplace, one outside).
You instantly see and feel the creativity of the owners as soon as you enter the house. A large variety of architectural paintings can be admired throughout the house, like a leitmotif - here and there various details like a library and antiquities from all over the world tastefully complement this stunning decoration. Here you can breathe cosmopolitanism in a country village like Manciano.
In front of the house is a terrace shaded by plants, the ideal place to eat outside during the summer months. A covered parking in front of the house complements the offer in an ideal way.
This beautiful place in the country, formerly the home of Gemma Detti, artist and architect, is now managed by her family and can also be used as a location for small-scale conferences, concerts, courses and social events, weddings included.
The entire property is surrounded by nature and offers wonderful views of the surrounding area, as well as access to various hiking trails. Horse-riding can be arranged at nearby stables. Saturnia with its famous thermal baths is not more than 15 km away.
If you are looking for a quiet holiday home surrounded by untouched nature and with real personality, then this is exactly the right place for you.
