Aloha and welcome to Hale 'Ono Kane Kai', our spacious, 3 bedroom, two & 1/2 bath, oceanfront home in Kekaha. This home was custom constructed and has three separate lanais, totaling 1100 square feet of 'OUTSIDE' living area, and an additional 1700 sq ft inside.

West Kauai is home to the longest, continuous stretch of white sand beach in the entire state of Hawaii. (over 15 miles long). Additionally, Kekaha is the closest town on the island to the world famous 'Polihale' Beach, which is arguably the most incredible beach in all of Hawaii. Polihale Beach has miles and Miles of pristine powder sand, 100 ft tall sand dunes, crystal blue water and a gorgeous backdrop with views of the 3000 ft cliffs of the Napali Coastline.

Salt Pond Beach is yet another choice within a few minutes of Kekaha for those days when you want extremely calm waters to swim in, or perhaps do a little snorkeling. Salt Pond beach is in a protected cove, so it's almost always calm enough for taking the 'little ones' in the water too.

Activities in West Kauai include surfing, sunbathing, swimming, body surfing, boogie boarding, wind surfing, whale watching and endless hiking opportunities. In the winter months, you can watch whales right from the lanai of the house, and year round you can enjoy the magnificent westward views over the ocean and the island of Nihau, which is the closest island out in front of you, approximately 18 miles off shore.

After a day at one of our incredible beaches, you can rinse off in the private, outdoor shower. At night, let the sounds of the ocean’s waves rock you to sleep.

Kekaha is located on the 'Sunny' west side of Kauai and is the western most town in the US. With an average annual rainfall of less that 20 inches, you can almost be guaranteed a warm, sunny vacation, regardless of the time of year! This is like traveling back in time to the way Hawaii used to be. No crowded beaches, no tourist traps, no hotel resorts, just sun, surf and people who remember what the 'Spirit of Aloha' really means.

Less than a block away is the road that leads to the famous 'Waimea Canyon' and the 'Kalalau Lookout'. There are two major grocery stores three miles away and you are minutes from the harbor where you can catch a sunset cruise along the NaPali coast.

The living area of this house is actually the second floor making the unobstructed ocean views from every window even more spectacular. The master bedroom suite has a beautiful stone and glass block shower. Ladies, you will never have to worry about your guy leaving the toilet seat up in this bathroom because he will have his very own, custom, built in urinal! The other two bedrooms and second full bath are extremely private, separated from the main house by a large lanai. All 3 bedrooms are air conditioned and there are ceiling fans throughout the house.

To satisfy your entertainment needs and keep you 'connected' during your stay, you will find this house well stocked with electronic 'toys'. There is FREE broadband, Wireless Internet access, Stereo CD player, two televisions, DVD player, and VCR.

Best Vacation Ever

We had a girls getaway for a week in February. The house is beautiful and accommodated all of perfectly. Close enough to so many attractions and close to the beach across the way. Breathtaking sunsets and sunrises. My favorite was listening to the ocean waves as I drifted off to sleep. Definitely will be back and highly recommended to all ages whether you are looking for relaxation or sightseeing.

Unforgettable Sunsets!

In Jan 2016 we stayed at Hale Ono Kane Kai In Kekaha, the dry side of Kauai. It was great for a family of four then friends totaling six. Would like to see more twin beds; lots of people who travel together don't sleep together. The beach was sandy this year all along the sea break in January as opposed to Dec of the previous year when the sands had been washed about two blocks North and South. Polihale is still my favorite beach and a short ride away. We stayed in Hanalei for a week after our week at Hale Ono Kane Kai. Quite a different experience. I like the fact that Hale Ono Kane Kai is in a neighborhood, with some real neighbors (and their dogs). Kids going to school. Locals walking their dogs. Grandmas waiting for the bus, which we rode one day to Lihue. Great access to the hiking in Waimea Canyon. Take your best gripping boots; the mud is slick. But its not muddy everywhere. This IS the dry side and it shows, with beach walking a favorite pastime. You can go for miles. Snorkeling and swimming not too far away. Whales and spinner dolphins and great sea birds. Take a snorkeling trip on a catamaran North to the Na Pali Coast. It's not to miss. Chad was great to work with even when the refrigerator gave up and he had to get a loaner then a new one in. He moved everything for us. We all live in very rural, quiet areas, but didn't find the road right outside a bother. It just blends into the background of the neighborhood. And the best for last: sunsets you will not forget.

Excellent Place to Unwind and Refresh

My husband and I are both artists and spent a month in this house, and we don't have anything but positive comments about it!!! It is a great place if you want to get away and concentrate on your art!!! The views from the house are wonderful, and you are steps away from the absolutely stunning beach. It was wonderful to be able to hear the ocean. The beds were very comfortable (best sleep I've had in years, and I have a bad back!), the kitchen had everything we needed. The house is in a residential area which is great because it is quiet! But a small store is about a 10 minute walk away, and there is a once a week farmers' market with local produce about a block away. The house is close to the road to Waimea Canyon, which is convenient if you are a hiker or you would just like to see the canyon (it is beautiful!). This is also not far from Hanapepe, which has art walks and, not to be missed, an outlet for fresh Kauai shrimp, which are farmed nearby. These are some of the best shrimp I've ever had! This is just a wonderful, comfortable house that provides peace and quiet, if that's what you want, but it is also close enough to nearby towns should you want more activity. Chad, the property manager, was super -- very responsive to any of our questions or requests. Thanks again, Chad!!!

Sunny everyday!!

This beach house and location were perfect for our family. My husband and I and our four grown children(17-24) had non-stop fun. The beach across the street felt like our private beach. The house had a closet full of beach supplies so we were equipped with boogie boards, umbrellas, coolers, etc. We spent every free minute out there playing in the water, watching the stars and relaxing in the sun. The house was also very well equipped for cooking and grilling at home. Each of the bedrooms have air conditioning which made for a very restful sleep. Waimea Canyon is basically in your backyard and full of great hikes with amazing vistas. Our favorite was Waipo'o Falls, because you can swim in the water to cool off. Polihale Beach is so close and also deserted. Highly recommend Bubbles Below scuba outfit for underwater adventures. The owner Linda is extremely knowledgable and her staff excellent. They leave from Port Allen which is only a 15 minute drive from Kekaha. We did a local dive and a day at Ni'ihau. We dove with monk seals, sharks, turtles, etc. Some of the best diving we have done. Also recommend the sea kayaking trip down the Na Pali Coast. It is a full day event and very challenging physically, but well worth it. We did do some hikes on the North side of the island. They also were spectacular but all of us were shocked how much more crowded the north side of the island was. The traffic and crowds were a bit of a culture shock. After any adventure to Hanalei area, we were always so happy to return to our sunny, private beach with no parking issues. We loved this house and location and would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful Hawaii

We spent 10 days with another couple at this property. It was wonderful. From the moment that we stepped in the door we felt like home. The lanai is where we spent most of our time, morning coffee, afternoon cocktails and watching the fabulous sunsets. The second and third bedrooms are separate from the main part of the home and this was a great feature. It gave each couple lots of privacy. The beach was spectacular. Love the fact that it is not busy, beautiful pristine sand and great for those long walks. We did a helicopter ride around the island, rode bikes 12 miles down through the canyon (both of these activities got the heart rate up!!) did a sunset dinner cruise, a luau, golf and spent lots of time playing in the waves at the various beaches. Chad was great to deal with and make the arrangements very simple and convenient.

We are already looking at plans to return!

NOISY but some plusses

This property has an absolutely gorgeous view and the home is lovely. For us there were two huge drawbacks however. The noise from the highway right in front of the house made the lanai unpleasant despite the great view. We had to practically shout at each other during the beautiful sunsets and dinners. The only table is on the lanai so if you have a group of six like we did there is no comfortable option for eating inside. Even at 5 am there was a car every 60 seconds and nonstop traffic noise all day and evening.

Also the beach shown in front of the house did not exist. There is a 15 foot high rock seawall with no sand present even at low tide. According to the neighbors the beach in front of the house hasn't existed for quite a while. There is access to a sandy beach about a block south and a wonderful bobbing and boogie boarding beach about a mile north. We enjoyed both of these often. There are also public tennis courts about a block away and easy access to great hiking in Weimea Canyon. The beach at the end of the road, Poli Hale, was also fantastic and a short drive. Short drive too to snorkeling and swimming at Salt Pond State Park and Poipu. Yoga on the beach in Weimea and Friday night artwalk in Hanapepe also highly recommended. If traffic noise doesn't bother you it is a beautiful home... loved the sun... 82-84 degrees and sun 13 out of 14 days.
