Why Pete Low chose Romney
This is our precious log home located 80 miles West of Leesburg, VA. It's extremely clean, has fast and reliable WIFI and once you get out there, you just don't want to leave. You can build a big fire, hike the property and surrounding area and most importantly, you can relax in this very quiet and peaceful area. There are 2 bedrooms on the main level (one King one Queen) sharing a master bath with stand up frameless glass shower. There is also a queen bed up in the spacious loft which has it's own private bath including a LARGE claw foot soaking tub. The finished basement is a great place to pitch multiple sleeping bags and has a piano for those who play. The open design promotes hanging out on the main level and 40x8 covered deck. This is an amazing spot to enjoy all types of weather. If it's stormy that's even better. You can see the storms coming for 30-40 miles (all the way to MD). The covered deck has a few big wooden rocking chairs and a few heavy duty wooden lounge chairs to enjoy. I love being out on that porch during rain or snow storms as you are well protected but can enjoy nature right in your face. You can see in one of the photos I provided that at certain times of day, you are on the front porch and are actually above the clouds. That is a sight to behold. Inside we have an amazing kitchen that is open to the rest of the main level so those who are cooking are still included in everything. The 55 inch HD flat screen has an HDMI cable ready for you so if you have Netflix you are in great shape or maybe you just want to plug your laptop in and surf the web on the big screen. There is a large stainless steel grill on the back deck with multiple propane canister backups to use as needed. This place is hunter friendly and pet friendly as long as you treat the place as if it were your own. There is a nice hammock out back up a bit higher than the house. Friendly neighbors with all homes owned by folks to use as a getaway.

seven of us went out for a long weekend and were wonderfully comfortable in the house. The kitchen is wonderfully stocked and we were cooking all weekend long - very thankful we didn't have to bring pots, pans and utensils! Had our dogs with us too and it was a tremendous joy to just let them wander out of the house and into the surrounding woods, without having to worry! Pete was very accommodating in all regards, and it was a pleasure to rent from him! Many folks from our group are already asking when we can go back!
Beautiful and Secluded
The cabin was very spacious with an updated interior and a beautiful view over the mountains. It was also very secluded and offered a much needed respite from city life. The owner was responsive to any concerns during our stay. The worst part of the trip was having to leave!
What a great cabin. So relaxing and beautiful beyond words!
So secluded and quiet! We arrived after dark but when the sun came up the next morning...just wow! Stunning views! Everything we needed was there! Just bring your clothes and food! And big boy toys! Thanks for a great weekend!
Great place for the whole family!
What an awesome time we all had! My wife and I rented this beautiful custom log home on the side of a mountain, together with some friends and their boys. We showed up on Friday night without any issues, thanks to the great directions from the host. Everyone easily found a space suitable for them, from the beautiful loft to the fully finished basement. After a restful and quiet evening, hanging out in the porch, we awoke to a gorgeous day and amazing views from the entire house. The boys had a wonderful day playing in the big yard, and tromping around the surrounding woods. We collected firewood quite easily, and settled in for another great night, this time around the fire pit. That night, the neighbors up the mountain shot off a really great fireworks show, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. We got the house all cleaned up the next morning, again, with total ease thanks to great communications and supplies from our host. Everyone had a great time, and left saying how much they'd enjoyed themselves... a perfect weekend for both kids and adults. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful place on the mountain!
Short weekend getaway; beautiful home in such a secluded and peaceful setting; perfect to go unplug, get off the grid and recharge. Watch the sunrise in the morning and view the milky way and shooting stars at night. Owner was always available and in contact with us.
Such a fantastic place
I have to say, after being in the service for 24 years, this is one of the hidden gems, in the world. Great owner, fantastic place, with lots of views and silence.
We can't wait to go again.
Coming out of the Subdivision (Shadow Knolls), if you turn left your nearest Store is the T&S Market about 6 miles away which has pretty much about anything you could need. It's directly across the street from the Springfield Fire Department. If you turn right out of the gate it's 9 miles to the Slanesville General Store which also has about anything you could require including a nice family restaurant.
Closest "Big City" would be Romney about 25 minutes away. Great pizza place and a huge Sheetz open 24/7 as well as an ice cream shop and much more. Nice historical town to visit and very friendly. For the big stuff like Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Applebee's Etc. you are equally close (45 minutes) to Winchester VA and Cumberland, MD both of which are worth the visit.
