Cornish Cottage, Doublebois

  • 5 of 5

Cosy, comfortable and clean cottage in lovely, secluded location within easy reach of A38. Ideal for a family break. Well equipped. Very comfortable and good sized bedrooms. Access to main bathroom via bedroom not ideal and hallway very small but didn't cause us problems. Met owner on arrival.......very friendly and helpful. Secure garden good for dog. Convenient for both North and South Cornish coast and Bodmin Moor. Reasonably priced. Would recommend.

Tired Cottage

  • 2 of 5

We had a lovely time at the cottage, however, our feedback to the owner would be that the property is extremely tired and needs updating and modernising. Main bathroom paint peeling off the walls, kitchen cabinets not fitting properly, drawers not closing property, lounge large areas of damp with 'blown' walls. Generally tired and in need of some overdue TLC.

Owner's Response: We are delighted that our guest had a lovely time at Cornish Cottage, it is comfortable and well equipped. We have had a very busy season and historic cottages need constant maintenance and care. We accept that there was some peeling paint in the bathroom and have redecorated. Our windows are also being repaired this winter by skilled craftsmen. The house has lime walls which are designed to breathe moisture, this results in an effervescence occasional be emitted from the wall, this is harmless and natural- it looks like foam. We remove this and paint. The house is well ventilated especially when the open fire works and centrally heated and has no noticeable damp. We have a constant schedule of works, historic houses are not new builds and have some character. We are grateful for your comments and have invested TLC in the house, we are confident that our next guests will find the house well maintained, clean and tidy with high speed broadband and great central heating and a pressurized shower system. We are grateful to all our guests for staying with us- this allows us to improve this beautiful cottage, all our previous reviews show consistently high scores.

Very cosy and great location

  • 5 of 5

Great location both centrally for most parts of Cornwall as well as countryside for the dog. Comfortable accommodation, especially open fire. Didn't get round to asking about the grave stone in back garden for the 3yr old who died in 1911?. Jason was very helpful and nothing to much trouble. Overall great stay and would return with no hesitation. Thanks again.

Full of character, well equipped and in a good central location

  • 5 of 5

This cottage had everything we needed, it was warm, comfortable, clean and very well equipped with everything in good working order. Although it's location is down an odd little road we had no problem finding it, neither did our son who arrived late on a very rainy night. The location is close to Liskeard, handy for provisions, and a great base to visit Looe, Port Isaac, Charlestown and a nice little cider farm! The owners were very friendly and helpful, on hand if you needed them. Our stay was in the rainy season but I would imagine it's even lovelier in nice weather.
