There is a 24 hour Walmart and Shoprite. Area is great for antiquing, biking and white water rafting on the Delaware 15 min away. Great for doing absolutely nothing too! If you want to go nowhere, cabin is quiet and a 5 minute walk from the Toronto Lake at the end of the road, just sit in the yard and read a book or sit in front of the fire & watch a movie. Dogs are welcome.
I live and work on the Upper West side in Manhattan and enjoy renting my cabin year round, except in the coldest months of winter, depends on the temperatures! I am a freelancer so I can enjoy my cabin during the week when no one is renting it, I love it up there!
Loretta Palma purchased this cabin in 1990
The house is only 2 hours from Manhattan, 90 miles from the GW Bridge and a world away.
The cabin in situated in the center of 3 acres of woods surrounded by other wooded acres.
There are no close neighbors and the lake at end of the road, such a short, beautiful walk,
made it unique. I love kyaking and swimming and x-country skiing in the winter and this property
for me was ideal. I know it will be the perfect choice for others who, like myself, want to
get away without having to travel 3 or more hours. There is a major town nearby in Monticello
if you need to do shopping or go to a movie or restaurant, but it's far enough away to be
truly in the woods. The proximity of the other lakes in the area, Superior State Park,
White Lake in town and Black Lake down the road make it a unique area for water sports.
And now the cabin is a 5 minute drive to the Bethel Woods Music Shed and site of the
1969 Woodstock Celebration. The music festival is fantastic! and the new Woodstock Museum at the site is something you will see nowhere else, worth the trip from anywhere!
Quiet road, secluded but not isolated location, short 5 minute walk to huge natural lake Toronto, great for swimming, kyaking, fishing or cross country skiing in winter. Hard to find this much wilderness only 90 miles from NY City!
Just got back from the cabin. This is was our third time there. My wife and I were out kyaking on Lake Toronto and said to each other, "where else can you find this kind of peace and beauty only 2 hours from the city." The dogs enjoyed it more than we did, all that swimming and running. We will be back next year. Cabin is always clean and comfortable. An affordable get away we highly recommend. I give it 5 stars!!
Perfect rustic cozy cabin retreat. This adorable cabin had all the amenities we could hope for and our dogs loved it. Close to local attractions, restaurants and lakes. We enjoyed breakfast on the screened in porch, relaxing in the Adirondack chairs in the yard with the dogs exploring the yard on convenient tie out anchored on a tree near by. Very enjoyable weekend. Thank you Loretta for opening your cabin to us,
Heather, Guy, Lily, Leila and Daisy
We spent in the cabin Memorial Day weekend. Great location just two hours away from the city, three lakes around(I personally liked Superior lake better than others), good restaurants in the area, kayaking, fishing, barbecue on the front yard. Came back to the city fresh and full of energy.
We forgot some stuff in cabin when were leaving. The owner was so nice, mailed them to us and in a couple of days we had them back. Thank you very much, Loretta!
my wife and I spent 5 great days at the cabin and we found all the comforts of home and our two chihuahuas enjoyed the comfortable outdoors, well worth the trip
This is our third time back at the cabin. As always, we had a relaxing stay. the house is always clean and neat and has all the things we needed for a great stay. My wife and I were out kayaking in the middle of Lake Toronto and said to ourselves "where else can you find this kind of serenity 2 hours from the city." The dogs loved it even more, all that swimming and running. We will definitely be back. I give it 5 stars!
I had a wonderful three days at the cabin. It was clean and comfortable and had everything I needed. I went for long walk and went swimming and kayacking in the lake. So close to the city and a perfect place to clear my mind.
For anyone who needs a simple, lovely getaway this is it!
the cabin was great, we loved it. it was clean and comfortable with all the basics provided. the lakes were an extra plus, we loved swimming and kayaking. it was difficult to realize we were only 2 hours from the city. we will be back!
