About the property

This property is full of character for people who are willing to stay in something different.

Circa 1900 it has high ceilings and traditional distribution. The snail stairs (Sorry no lift) is something impossible to see in modern flats.

Inside however has been heavily modernised. From new model kitchen, to full mosaic wet area, and efficient gas fireplace. You will not miss any modern features in here, including a modern coffee machine for a quick coffee before everything starts, or a cozy morning.

It is located in Leith which is one of Edinburgh's hidden gems. Not very popular with tourists, but very popular with locals, you will find plenty of bars and restaurants where to spend lovely evenings.

The flat is not far away from the city centre either. Walking distance is around 35 minutes to Princess St. However you can take bus 22 (24 hrs service) which stops literally in front of the flat. You can also get on bus 300 if the airport is on your needs.

Parking is on street parking, and unlike many other areas in Edinburgh is still free of charge.

Handy to transit and groceries but building entryway is bleak, no lock on building door and no tv.

The flat itself was fine. Really good coffee. Clean and the beds were comfortable. We had our kids with us so having the TV not work was a drag. Also the door to the building has no lock, concrete hallway and stairs were dirty and smelled bad. Access to transit was fantastic, and there is a grocery store right across the street. Suite would be fine for adults who are just looking for a place to sleep with easy access to downtown. Not so great for families.

Disappointing but does the basics

Location of the appartment was perfect between the city centre and the harbour so it suits the needs of most visitors. Arrived to the flat which had not been cleaned before hand - this was rectified by the owner but reduced our stay by five hours for what we paid for as a result and left us slightly disappointed and uneasy about what may have been missed. Very daunting on arrival as the building entrance and other apartments are extremely run down and this is not shown in the photos. Apartment itself is a good space for 4 people and adequate street parking available for free - fresh and light apartment and very quiet through the evenings. Water pressure is non existant making the shower disappointing and drafts blowing through the windows make it rather cold in the apartment so heaters are definitely needed. For a two night stay for four we were only left with one toilet roll to use and we stayed clear of the tea and sugar available - definitely need changing as they look like they’ve been there for years with what was inside. The room with the green wallpaper doesn’t show the huge pipe at the top of the wall which has a constant drip and water running through it from all hours of the day and night. WiFi is non existent and the information provided for guests was a little confusing about the WiFi itself as it had two different details provided with two different provider details too. All in all an ok place to keep your things and crash out at night time after a busy weekend in the city centre. Not somewhere I would recommend for a relaxing weekend to enjoy the space itself but does the basics.

The property was as expected, clean and modern

The location is great. It's about a 30 minute walk into the centre of town or a 20 minute walk to the Ocean Terminal. Also the bus goes from right outside the door to both locations. Its £8.50 for a family day ticket (2 adults & 3 Children) which is great value, be sure to have the correct change, the bus drivers don't give change. There is a Lidl within 100M a Tesco with a couple of minutes walk, every other shop is a takeaway or restaurant. Parts of the area look a bit run down but by the waterfront there are some nice cafes and restaurants. It would be lovely to sit out in the summer, unfortunately in February its a bit cold. There are some great sites and activities. The Royal Yacht was a highlight. Mercat tours do a great evening tour of the city and vaults, finished off with the wee dram. Camera Obscura is great for the kids, although a little expensive and no family tickets available. Don't forget the castle (half price if you are members of the English heritage).

There were a couple of negatives. The TV wasn't working properly, it kept losing signal and we constantly had to retune it. Most of the time we were only able to get a few channels, This was possibly a problem with the ariel following some bad weather. Marcos the owner did bring a mobile ariel out satraight away but this did not work. Not a disaster. Also we were unable to access the mobile WiFi for all but one evening. Marcos did his best to sort the problem out but it was never sorted before we left. Having two teenage daughters with us this was a little bit frustrating both had brought lap tops and tablets. All in all i would recommend this property.

Esperienza deludente

Malgrado la posizione comoda e l'ottimo collegamento con il centro, l'appartamento ci ha enormemente delusi per svariate ragioni: il portone è assolutamente indecoroso per una struttura turistica, la zona non è delle migliori e le foto dell'appartamento pubblicate sul sito non corrispondono perfettamente alla realtà! Marcos è stato difficilmente reperibile prima del nostro arrivo e, solo dopo numerosi solleciti da parte di Homeaway su nostra richiesta, si è messo in contatto con noi e ci ha fornito tutte le informazioni turistiche del caso. In realtà non abbiamo avuto la fortuna di incontrarlo. Tutte le comunicazioni sono avvenute via mail o sms. Di tutte le esperienze Homeaway questa è stata la meno piacevole!

El piso bien, el acceso impresentable y sin wifi

El apartamento está bien, decorado y acogedor pero la escalera sucia, sucia, con malos olores y con basura por los escalones. El wifi, a pesar de que el propietario nos aseguraba que funcionaba y que intentó solucionarlo estuvimos sin wifi los tres días.
