Set on the hill overlooking Saunton Beach is The Chalet, Saunton, a purpose built apart-hotel, home to six luxury apartments, which enjoy stunning uninterrupted sea views. Located on the first floor of the property is Apartment 5, a gorgeous three bedroom, five star self-catering unit accommodating up to six.

This tastefully decorated apartment has been finished to a very high standard and can be accessed either via the elevator or the stairs. It also has key-card entry.

As well as its own balcony from which guests can admire the sunset, there is also a nice communal garden complete with external heated shower, and wet-suit/surfboard storage. From the garden guests can take advantage of the footpath that leads directly to Saunton Beach.

One of the best places to see the sea views is from the open plan living area, which is bright and spacious and benefits from large windows and patio doors leading directly out onto the first floor balcony, which is shared with the neighbouring apartment (Apartment 6).

The living area has nicely been divided into a comfy lounge with a large sofa, two arm chairs and a wall-mounted TV; an elegant dining area where the table seats up to six; and finally a well-equipped kitchen featuring everything guests will need to enjoy a relaxing break in North Devon, including a wine cooler, a fridge/freezer, a cooker, a dishwasher and a coffee machine.

Towards the rear of the apartment are the three good sized bedrooms. The first is a pretty twin with large window, next door to this is a lovely double with built-in wardrobe, finally there is the amazing Master Bedroom complete with king-size bed, sea views and a gorgeous roll-top bath. The Master Bedroom also has an en-suite bathroom with wash basin and WC. Finally there is the stunning Family Bathroom, which is fitted with a walk-in shower, a WC and a wash-basin.

No matter what the time of year, The Chalet Saunton boasts one of the best positions in Saunton, making this the perfect place to stay whether you are travelling with family and friends, or as a couple.

There are many varied activities which can be enjoyed within the local area, including horse riding (make sure you enquire about beach rides if you are an experience rider), cycling, walking and golf.

For walkers the South West Coast Path is a great way to not only discover the coastline but also to see the views and wildlife. Alternatively, for a more leisurely stroll, and for cyclists, the Tarka Trail, which begins in Braunton travels along the estuary towards Barnstaple and then on towards Meeth on the edge of Dartmoor, this level, tarmac route is ideal for all ages and abilities, and is largely traffic free.

For the golfers amongst the group, Saunton Sands is within easy reach and is not only home to a championship course, it also has some of the most incredible views over the ocean and Braunton Burrows.

Any families staying at the apartment can take advantage of the numerous nearby attractions, which are sure to keep the little ones entertained, some of our favourites are Exmoor Zoo, Watermouth Castle and the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park. Many attractions offer discounts for tickets if booked online in advance, so it is worth having a look at what is available before you set off.

The Chalet Saunton is in one of the most desirable locations in North Devon. Its slightly elevated position allows the apartments at The Chalet to boast spectacular sea views. It also has direct access along a footpath to the beach, making it perfect for families with young children.

Once on the beach, guests can participate in a number of water-sports, with surfing being the most popular. Lessons are available at the beach, and lifeguards are often on duty from Easter through to the end of the October half-term. The beach, which has golden sands and is backed by the Braunton Burrows, is also ideal for families and couples wishing to relax, with the shallows ideal for paddling.

At the beach guests will find the Beachside Grill, a wonderful bar/restaurant serving a variety of food. There are also small shops selling beach items and ice creams.

Within easy reach of Saunton are two other famous beaches, Croyde, which is a haven for surfers, and Woolacombe, which is well-known for its cleanliness and blue seas.

There are a number of excellent places to eat in the local area, including The Thatch in Croyde and The Kings Arms at Georgeham. For special occasions, Le Bistro Du Coin in Braunton, The Coach House at Kentisbury Grange and the Michelin star Olive Room in Ilfracombe are well worth a visit.
