Description

Photos and Description of this 8 bedroom holiday chalet in Biot - Chalet Le Grand Bleu

S/C 8 bed chalet luxury chalet, hot tub, sauna, wi fi, near Morzine

,Chalet Le Grand Bleu new in 2013 comprises a very spacious (380 sqm) light, airy, traditionally built wooden chalet, stylishly appointed, and decorated in a contemporary style. Named 'The Big Blue' because of the breathtaking panoramic view that extends for miles and will make your heart sing.

Prices in summer are based on up to 10 people and in winter on up to 16 .Supplements apply on additional numbers please email for a exact price

The chalet is situated just outside Le Biot, a small, sleep Savoyarde village perfect for guests who want to be an easy drive from the the busier towns of Morzine and Les Gets while only being an hour from Geneva airport.

The property is ideal for families and groups, with plenty to do whatever the season, whether that's enjoying some of the best skiing in Europe, visiting pretty lakeside towns and waterfalls or having an adrenalin rush on some of the superb mountain bike trails.

The chalet has been designed to provide flexible accommodation. It is essentially two separate chalets each with their own entrance, kitchen diner and lounge reception all linked by a central (lockable) staircase.

The property enjoys a choice of 3 terraces to enjoy your morning coffee on, and unusually for the Alps has an area of level lawn which the lower garden rooms all open on to - ideal for children to play safely.

The property can be hired as a huge 8 bedroom unit with two reception lounges and 2 kitchens or individually in non-peak weeks as two entirely self contained chalet apartments with separate external private entrances.

The chalet has been traditionally built and designed to provide excellent comfort for those who enjoy all types of Alpine pursuits and a little pampering. South facing, with picture windows and 3 sets of French doors in the living area, the accommodation is light and airy and makes the most of the commanding uninterrupted views across alpine meadows, the Dranse valley and the mountains of the Portes Du Soleil.

Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty it's a pleasure to just sit and gaze at the mountains and enormous sky which combine to provide subtle variations to a stunning vista.

Wood burning log fires provide a focal point and a cosy ambience while thermostatic under floor heating provides modern convenience.

When returning from an active day, enter the chalet straight into the spacious boot room. Hang your coat in the drying cupboard and place your boots on the boot warmer. A shower to freshen up, with 5 hot water tanks giving 1000 litres of available hot water – everyone can shower simultaneously. Maybe a sauna to sooth those aching bones or grab a glass of wine and from the hot tub watch the sun set behind the mountains. Then over a Savoyard dinner recount the adventures of the day.

Winter activities: The Portes du Soleil ski area links the French resorts of Morzine, Lets Gets, Avoriaz and Chatel with the Swiss resorts of Morgin, and Champery. There are over 650kms of marked piste, 208 lifts and over 100 mountain restaurants catering for all levels of skier, allowing everyone to get what they want from a day on the slopes.

In addition to the extensive skiing there are delightful wooded trails around alpine lakes and spectacular mountain views across to Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva.

Snow boarders will enjoy the numerous snow parks, with jumps and pipes to really get the adrenalin pumping.

Snow record – Portes du Soleil is one of the most northerly of all French ski areas. Avoriaz, with a top lift at 7,500ft that guarantees snow in all season. Morzine and Les Gets (top lift 6,000ft) are lower but never the less have excellent snow records. Personally the ambience and real Gaelic charm of these towns more than compensate when compared to the soul-less, bleak high altitude resorts.

Non winter activities:

• Pamper yourself at a local spa

• Use the ski lifts to take a gentle walk along the mountain ridges

• Trek along parts of the 300km of well marked mountain trails

• Swim in any of the lakes or the Olympic outdoor pool in Morzine

• Go to the sandy beach at Excenevex for a bucket and spade experience with a difference

• Practice you backhand at the free local tennis courts

• Fabulous fishing in the lakes and rivers

• Donkey and horse riding in the forests and mountains

• Golf at one of the twleve 18 hole golf courses in the area

• World class mountain biking terrain with ski lifts to the mountain tops for those who want to expend less energy. Many events are hosted here including the World Cup Downhill in Les Gets and the Avalanche Cup in Morzine

• Road cycling from the doorstep along routes used by the Tour de France

• White water rafting along the stunning Dranze valley

• Luge and down hill go karting for the youngsters

• Adventure parks for the young to challenge their limits

• Quad biking

• Rock climbing from novice to advanced – minutes from the chalet

Ideal base for exploring:

• The spectacular Devils Gorge Bridge at Le Jotty for a cool walk in the height of summer

• Les Linderets only accessible by road in summer and a fabulous place for lunch

• Stroll around the abbey at Abondance

• Go wine tasting at many of the local vineyards on the banks of Lake Geneva

• Visit the spa towns of Thonon and Evian with their Mediterranean climate and beaches on the south banks of Lake Geneva

• Soak up the atmosphere at the histories Medieval town of Yvoire renowned as one of the prettiest towns in France.

• Hop aboard a paddle steamer on Lake Geneva

• Marvel at the sheer size and power of glaciers either at Chamonix or Diablerets

• Discover Switzerland’s finest Aquaparc at Le Bouveret

• Take a train ride on one of the most spectacular railway lines in the world at Montreux

• Chamonix Mont Blanc is only an hour away. From here the highest cable car ride takes you to the top of the Aiguille du Midi from where you can enjoy spectacular views.

Beautiful, spacious chalet in stunning location.

  • 5 of 5

I booked this wonderful chalet as a base for a photo shoot, utilising the outside space to produce the images. Le Grand Bleu was absolutely perfect for my business needs, but would be equally perfect for any activity holiday or just as a holiday chalet. The property was particularly spacious, especially the bedrooms which is unusual for many chalets like this. It was extremely well equipped. (Our crew caterer was pleasantly surprised to find everything required for a professional kitchen, and plenty of extra crockery etc.) The views from Le Grand Bleu were breathtaking. We were fortunate to have amazing weather and utilised the huge terrace to eat from. Le Grand Bleu has the added advantage of a garden, which again is quite rare for a chalet. I opted to add on the use of the sauna and the hot tub, which was a real luxury at the end of the day, strongly recommend. The surrounding area was beautiful and very quiet, but by no means isolated. Villages and towns very close by, so shops, restaurants etc very accessible. The owner Richard, was a pleasure to deal with. I had many questions and requests which were all addressed in an efficient and friendly manner.

I can't recommend this chalet enough. I hope to be back, but on a holiday next time!

Perfect home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Chalet Le Grand Bleu is a very comfortable and spacious house. We were 5 couples and one single so the house fitted us more than perfectly and everyone had their own space along with large common areas. It was easy to make delicious family dinners in the well equipped kitchen after fantastic days out hiking or sightseeing and it was wonderful enjoying around the big dining table and in the hot tub in the evenings. Only few km to a fine supermarket, bakery and the local cheese shop for all you need. This is definitely a place we recommend and hopefully return to either in the summertime for more hiking or during winter for skiing.

Super Chalet!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely holiday in Chalet le Grand Bleu last year. Le Grand Bleu lives up to its name; it is a large spacious chalet with a fantastic view across the valley. De Grand Bleu is a newly built chalet in the traditional alpine style. So the house is both comfortable and cozy, with a jacuzzi, sauna and a wood burner. When you come in from a hike, cycling, or after skiing there is a drying room and laundry facilities.

The chalet is very well designed and is suitable for both large and small groups. We used the larger open-plan kitchen most (there is a large and a very large kitchen). The kitchens are very well equipped with everything one needs for home-gastronomy. All the bedrooms are en suite, with the two hot water tanks you don’t run out of warm water. The underfloor heating works really well, that is one of the advantages of a new chalet. There is also a really good internet connection throughout the house.

One finds beautiful views everywhere in the house. There is a little baker for croissants in Le Biot. We had rented a car and went on day trips in the local area and Switzerland. There is plenty to do all year round. We would recommend Chalet le Grand Bleu for both large and small groups.

Amazing vacation in the Alps

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely fantastic vacation ! The chalet was incredible. The mountains beautiful. The weather great. The jacuzzi divine. etc.

Our group consisted of 14 persons incl 3 very young children, looking for an active vacation. The surrounding mountains offer enndless possibilities for hiking. The available walking routes offered us great variety for everyone in our group. Le Biot is small and quiet, but a great location in the vicinity of Morzine (for shops).

We had such a great time, and hope to come back another year in summer or in winter.

Thank you Richard !

prachtig chalet op mooie locatie

  • 5 of 5

FANTASTIC CHALET!

  • 5 of 5

What a delight! A group of 20 - children and adults mix. Absolute superb chalet with everything you need...including the views! We had a little hiccup on arrival with the heating but this was very quickly remedied by the management who were there in no time. All the rooms were lovely and clean and the kitchens were VERY well equipped. (If self catering, you dont need to take a thing - even had a couple of slow cookers!! ) This was our first ski holiday where we had to travel by car to the slopes from the chalet but we found this really had its advantages......over the week we visited three different resorts! Avoriaz, st jeans and les gets .... no trouble parking and the resorts were not as busy as we thought (half term) A handy ski shop just five mnis away, provided us with skis and boots and also a bakers for our daily bread!

I'm sure we will be back!

THANKS TO RICHARD AND HIS TEAM!

Car: recommended

Chalet Le Grand Bleu is located in a quiet Savoyard mountain setting with the local village having a bakery, cheese shop, tabac and ski shop. Five minutes by car St Jean D’Aulps has a couple of excellent restaurants, a pizza bar and a large ‘Carrefour’ supermarket.

Morzine is a 10 minute drive. Here ski lifts connect to the whole of the Porte Du Soleil and the market town has countless restaurants bars and clubs. The smaller, but very pretty Grande Terche ski area, skiable on a Porte du Soleil pass is close by at St Jean D'Aulps.

The chalet is ideally located for parties who want to 'dip' into large town amenities but also want the spectacular mountain views and the peace and tranquillity of a rural setting.

The chalet is situated 20 meters from the D32 - the local village bus route and is therefore always promptly cleared of snow. Car hire from Geneva airport is a cost effective and very civilised alternative to ski mini bus transfer to the resort. A hire car offers great flexibility in avoiding bottlenecks at ski lifts especially in the morning. Parking in the larger ski station car parks is free.

The Portes du Soleil ski area links the French resorts of Morzine, Lets Gets, Avoriaz and Chatel with the Swiss resorts of Morgon, and Champery.

When the snow has melted the area has a huge amount to offer. The sheer beauty and clean air provides a perfect backdrop to relax and unwind. Alternatively the mountains can be a fabulous playground for all – active or gentle.
