New to the market in 2018, Higher Churchtown Barn is a luxury converted barn in the heart of the Cornish countryside, in an Area of Natural Beauty. Situated on the edge of Bodmin Moor, in the tranquil village of North Hill, Higher Churchtown Barn is perfectly placed for a traditional Cornish holiday, perfect for those who like a peaceful holiday away from the hustle and bustle. Whether you're looking for walking routes with beautiful views, a quiet weekend getaway or to visit a wide selection of Cornwall's beautiful beaches and coastlines, Higher Churchtown Barn is the place for you.
Our luxury barn can accommodate up to 10 people for full week stays or off-peak weekends and weekday breaks. With four beautiful bedrooms and an additional sofa bed, this is the perfect accommodation for families, large or small groups, or even couples looking for a romantic weekend away. Not only that, but we're dog-friendly too!
Once a family home for the owners, this property gives a real 'home away from home' feel to those who wish to stay here. With a lovely gastro pub just down the road and friendly locals, you get a real Cornish experience when staying in Higher Churchtown Barn.
Changeover days are Fridays and Mondays most of the year round, with full week bookings from Friday to Friday only during the peak summer season, July 12th to September 6th in 2019 (sorry we are fully booked for the summer 2018). But if you need a short break starting and finishing on other weekdays during the rest of the year, we will do our very best to accommodate.
Situated in the heart of the countryside, phone signal can be a bit hit and miss, although upstairs we’re usually fine! But we provide free Superfast Wi-fi in the barn so you can stay in touch with loved ones and share pictures of your beautiful holiday. We also provide Sky TV and DVDs for those rainy days.
With a beautiful kitchen fully equipped with everything you'll need including a gorgeous dining room, families, groups and couples can create their own tasty meals from scratch with beautiful Cornish local food.
The magical 1/3 acre garden stretches back to the green fields behind, and is fully enclosed to ensure the dogs stay in and the cows stay out!. A beautiful space for relaxing, family BBQs and for children and pets to play in, it's the perfect setting for a countryside holiday. We have outdoor dining for up to 12 people (invite your friends!), garden loungers for the whole family, and a fire pit/BBQ for outdoor cooking and just sitting around the fireside into the evening.
Higher Churchtown Barn comes complete with fresh bedding and linen so that you have extra room in your case for the things that matter most. The barn is fully kitted out with everything you need so you can just relax and enjoy your stay.
There's plenty of off-road parking for up to 5 cars, which means you can have the freedom to come and go as you please and visit the Cornish sites.
With Cornwall being a great place for walks, there's nothing better than being able to take your pooch(es) with you. That's why we're a dog-friendly holiday home in Cornwall so you can bring all the family. And, don't worry, the local pub is dog-friendly too!
The Local Area
North Hill is a picturesque village situated in a peaceful river valley on the eastern edge of Bodmin Moor. Seven miles south of Launceston, the area is filled with hills and farmlands and is the perfect place for a walking, cycling or relaxing holiday in Cornwall. The River Lynher runs to the east of the village and the 14th-century parish church dominates the beautiful views and landscapes of the area. It is also home to St Torney's Holy Well which you can view for yourself down by the river. The farms surrounding the area were named in the Domesday Book, with the house at Trebartha being known as a hospital during World War II before it was demolished in 1948.
North Hill is also home to a dog-friendly local pub, The Racehorse Inn, where fresh local food and wines are served. Located just half an hour from each coast, North Hill has an abundance of activities nearby including museums, castles, an open-air theatre, outdoor sports and walks that'll keep you busy during your stay.
