Cosmos Saint Lucia is a modernist open-air villa and lodge looking west to the sunset and the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Pitons, two volcanic spires rising side by side from the Caribbean Sea.

Cosmos means universal harmony. With a view of mountain, sea, and sky, you are embraced by the serenity of the natural elements, invited to come together with friends and family to celebrate life’s milestones, and to take time to contemplate the sublime natural beauty that surrounds.

Cooled by northern trade winds, Cosmos is located high on a ridge just south of Anse Chastanet Beach with its natural marine reserve, and just north of St Lucia’s old French capital, Soufrière. In the vicinity are rain forests, hot springs, glistening seas, beaches and protected coral reefs.

The villa’s unique open-air design is built principally from renewable hardwoods and polished concrete finishes. The basis upper floor cantilevers out some 500 feet XX meters above the coastcoast., offering panoramic views over the UNESCO world heritage site and Caribbean sea.  Inspired by traditional wooden railway boxcars, teak beams and crisscrossed slats are woven together to createin a a simple rectilinear form that floats hovers in space. Below, bedrooms are built in smooth white coral render and polished concrete, with teak screens offering refuge from the elementsopening to the sea and the setting sun.rock.

Projecting at right anglesaway from the main living space and pointing directly to the Piton mountains are sundecks and an ozone pool with surrounded by dramatic infinity edges on three sides. These famous twin peaks have become icons of the Windward Islands and are protected from development. Usin A Pavilion lounge, outdoor kitchen, al-fresco eating area and solar heated stone plunge pool overlook the main villa and pool.

Via a separate entrance, a private Lodge offers studio style accommodation with timber screens that operate on a nautical winch to reveal stunning views of sea and mountains. The Lodge has its own private plunge pool.

Furnishings are made by local craftsmen from native woods and are decked-out with massive cushions covered in organic cottons. The house’s palette is primarily natural, dominated by rich golden timber wood with cleanbeside whitewash walls walls and bright some concession to bright colour from garden blossoms, fabrics, fruit and people.

Rainwater is abundant on St Lucia and the water supply for Cosmos Maison Teak relies almost almost completely on this natural source. Rainfall is gathered and stored in a vast cisterns with a season’s supply. Grey water is stored and recycled into for the flushing toilets and garden and feedsirrigation. Although some electricity is required from the grid, a large part of the house’s energy needs is met by solar power. Concessions to comfort also include air conditioned bedrooms, wireless sound and connectivity throughout.

About Anastasia Alexander

American born, lived in France and then England since 1990. Now a U.K. citizen.

Anastasia first visited St Lucia in 1994. She returned many times - enchanted by the island - and purchased the land at Cosmos in 1998. She nurtured her dream to develop the property over the next 15 years, finally breaking ground in 2012. Cosmos welcomed its first guests in 2016.

With a career in natural botanical products, Anastasia now focuses on running Coulibri, teaching yoga and designing gardens. She lives most of the year in the English countryside, growing vegetables and cooking like a fiend - escaping to sunny St Lucia when the days get short in England.

Anastasia Alexander purchased this villa in 1998

Why Anastasia Alexander chose Mamin

Amazing location that I fell for when I first visited the island in 1994. Cosmos was designed by a modernist architect and deploys solar panels to supply as much electricity and hot water as possible. We collect annual rainfall in a vast cistern and reuse grey water on the gardens.

What makes this villa unique

Exceptional facilities and outlook. This is the most prominent Piton view in the area, close enough to the water edge without the noise, high enough to catch cooling breeze, convenient enough to walk to the beach and close enough to neighbours for security whilst far enough for privacy. Many options in how to enjoy your stay living indoors and outdoors simultaneously.

Guestbook comments from the owner

A note to say what a fantastic time we had staying with you. It was so kind of you to have us for so long and put up with us - thank you.

Being out on the boat was a particular highlight, as was the general downtime and post-exam relaxation back at the villa. Many of my previous holidays have been predominantly resort-based, so it was great to get out and see a bit of the country.

There are few words to describe your villa and its position, unlike anywhere I've stayed before.. Hope you're happy with it. I'm looking forward to finding a job that will bring me closer to coming back there! (I'll start saving now, just give me a few years at least.)

I flew to Trinidad to visit my flatmate Emily after staying with you. Fantastic time at their beach house and with the family. St Lucia weather definitely wins,

Wonderful week in paradise!

  • 5 of 5

The architecture of the house is incredible! 12 of us stayed there last week, and everyone just loved it. The whole property is gorgeous and in great shape! We enjoyed the company of Shemika, Shawn and all the others. They are such wonderful people, kind, friendly, and very helpful. Coming back every evening to the sun setting made the view on the pitons even more magical. One day we ventured out on the sea with the boat that is being held available for guests at the house. It was a wonderful afternoon and we got to see a lot of the northern part of the island. We cannot wait to visit again! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!

What you see is what you get!! Really!!!

  • 5 of 5

I never imagined the pictures would truly represent what we were going to experience in this house. It looked to good to be true. Wow. From the minute we walked in, I can’t quite capture the words. This house has been my absolute favorite accommodation in all my travels. The view never stops. Ever changing and more amazing as the week went on. The trade winds kept us cool. The ceiling fans helped keep the bugs to a minimum. Never really needed the air conditioning. Living spaces, bedrooms, kitchens, pool area, really the entire property was kept tidy. The staff were very nice. Truth be told very quiet and respectful of our vacation. Shermika was a wonderful host and an ever better cook. We had never stayed at a home with a cook before. Once we talked about shopping and meals it went very smoothly. She’s such an excellent cook! The pool... *sigh.... I miss it the most. There is currently an issue with the liner BUT it’s being fixed and did not effect the pool’s usability whatsoever. Was crystal clear, very clean and refreshing. Floating with a drink overlooking the mountains was a check off on my vacation bucket list. This was not my first time in an open air accommodation. I’m a camper at heart. Admittedly it’s not for everyone so a little research and common sense goes a long way. I cannot wait to return to this property and St Lucia. Thank you Anastasia and Shermika, Charla and Ed. Until next time ❤️

Amazing Place. Even Better Service

  • 5 of 5

Last week, my wife and I stayed there with three other adult couples. We had a great time on this incredible property. Stunning views. Very nice setup. Most of all, we appreciated the help from Shemika and Shawn. We look forward to visiting there again.

Stunning architecture and breath-taking views

  • 5 of 5

If I could give 6 or 7 stars, I would. The property is just stunning. The pictures are amazing, but the views are even better in person. The sunsets every night provided an unbelievable backdrop to drinks on the deck.

Shemika, the property manager, was wonderful too. She is so warm, friendly, and helpful -- she always went the extra mile to make our stay carefree and enjoyable. When we arrived, the kitchen was stocked with beer, rum and food to enjoy a local, home cooked dinner and breakfast the next day. She also helped arrange for a boat tour of the coast, including lunch in Rodney Bay and snorkeling at Sugar Beach. We could not have asked for a more attentive and friendly host!

Amazing experience!

  • 5 of 5

Villa Coulibri was an amazing experience for my family. We loved every moment of our time there. The villa was open, clean and the views were breathtaking. The staff was helpful throughout our stay and simply made our experience that much better. We enjoyed using the Coulibri boat for day trips around the island. We were able to swim at the villa's pool as well as take a quick trip down to the beach. Best of both worlds. The staff prepared great meals for us during our stay. We will indeed be returning to Villa Coulibri in the future. I would advise anyone planning a trip to St Lucia, to stay at Villa Coulibri!

Our favorite place in St. Lucia

  • 5 of 5

We have traveled to St. Lucia on many occasions and always stay in a villa or hotel around Soufriere due to the stunning beauty of the Pitons. We have never stayed in a more dramatic and spectacular location than Villa Coulibri. I have read the other reviews and what they mention is all true- the views are perfect, the sunsets are framed for you every night, the structure and architecture of the home is magnificent. On top of all those wonderful features the Villas staff is overseen by Shermika who will make sure that everything is perfect during your stay. In addition to being warm, professional and tidy, Shermika is a restaurant level cook who will impress you with her culinary creations of local cuisine. If you are going to St. Lucia and you can afford to stay somewhere at a luxury level, I can think of no better place than Villa Coulibri. We will be back.

Around Anse Chastanet and the feet of the Pitons there is excellent snorkelling off any of the 4 local beaches, 3 of which offer scuba diving schools. Sugar Beach offers dinghy sailing rentals and water skiing. There are three excellent mountains to climb with local guides and a live volcano caldera above Soufriere town with hot springs and hot water falls in the surrounding rain forest.
