This 350-year-old apartment is located just 100 meters away from the beautiful Dordogne River, right in the heart of the Old Town of historic Bergerac. Recently refurbished with a modern look and feel yet retaining the beautiful original character of this 2-bedroom apartment with feature stone wall and exposed beams.

Close to cafe's, restaurants and bars all within the historic Old Town or just a 5-minute walk to the new town with plentiful shops and further amenities.

The apartment

This first floor, two-bedroom apartment with WIFI boasts an impressive open plan lounge, kitchen and diner featuring two classic French floor to ceiling windows both with Juliet balconies which open out above just one of the many lively cobbled streets within the Old Quarter of Bergerac.

The beautiful lounge area enjoys two sofas and a television with both English and French channels, all centered around the original feature stone wall and exposed beams dating back some 350 years.

The kitchen is well equipped with stainless steel hob, Pyrolytic oven, large fridge freezer and a microwave oven.

The dining area features a large table which accommodates 6 people comfortably.

The bedrooms are located at the rear of the apartment allowing for a peaceful night sleep. The main bedroom features a super king sized bed and the second bedroom enjoys two sets of bunk beds, sleeping a total of 4 people. The second bedroom enjoys air conditioning.

The modern bathroom enjoys a walk-in shower, a contemporary sink with extensive storage.


Bergerac airport is just a 10-minute drive or taxi from the center of Bergerac enjoying regular flights from the UK with Ryanair, Flybe and Jet 2 to name just a few. Other airports close by include Bordeaux which is just an 1 hour 15min drive and Limoges which is approximately 2 hours.

Bergerac train station is a 15-minute walk from the apartment with direct routes to Bordeaux (in just over an hour) and Sarlat with places such as the famous St Emilion in between. It also has regular bus services to places such as Perigueux.


Located in the heart of picturesque Bergerac, this apartment has all the amenities you could want on your doorstep with cafes, restaurants, wine museums, historical points of interest, a supermarket, bars and an abundance of shops all within walking distance.

Things to do

There is so much to do within Bergerac itself such as a boat ride along the Dordogne, visiting the wine museum, discovering the various points of historical interest, walks along the river, meandering through the ancient cobbled streets, fishing, twice weekly markets as well as enjoying the famous high street shopping.

Pombonne Park, just a 30-minute walk away enjoys a swimming lake, sandy beach, bird reserve, café/restaurant as well as lovely walks through woodland areas. If you enjoy swimming there is a water park just 10 minutes drive away, a beautiful lake in Vergt, just 20minute drive as well as plenty of natural beaches along the Dordogne river itself.

And if you want to venture a little further afield there are stunning grottos (under ground caves) to discover, numerous wine tasting experiences, beautiful chateau (castles) charming towns and cities such as Issigeac, Sarlat, Domme, La Roque- Gageac, Beynac, St Emilion and Perigeaux to name just a few.

And if it is action you are after, The Dordogne river is famous for its canoeing and white water rafting, cycling or mountain biking is also very popular with over 1,000km of marked trails, mountaineering with over 19 sites and hiking with 780km of great hiking trials and 4000km of short hike trails.


The apartment is 350 years old so there is no lift I’m afraid. As the area is semi-pedestrianised, there is no long term parking, however, there are many free car parks located between 100m – 500m from the apartment.

We had a great stay at the apartment. It is located in the historic heart of Bergerac, the building is very atmospheric and you can throw open the beautiful old shutters and windows to the lovely weather and really feel part of everything. It is surrounded by good and lively restaurants especially the Omletteria and charming shops. There are lots of cafes just a minutes away on foot where you can have a drink or a crepe. The marvellous Dordogne river is just a moment away where you can take a boat trip. The area surrounding Bergerac has many excellent places to visit including truly magnificent caves and castles, beautiful Château, picturesque towns and villages and places where you can take a canoe or a dip in the Dordogne river. It also really easy to park nearby to the apartment. It is impossible to truly put into words how perfect the apartment is for a holiday to really experience Bergerac and the Dordogne region!!

Fabulous few days in beautiful Bergerac

Had a fabulous stay in this gorgeous apartment that is full of character but has all the mod cons and is finished to a high standard. Great location in the centre of Bergerac and we very much enjoyed sitting by the big windows soaking up the sun and watching the world go by . The apartment is a 2 second walk from stunning fine dining restaurant l’ Imparfait and there is lots to do in the lovely town itself including lots of shopping ! There are also several places to walk to including a beautiful nature reserve and beach. Would definitely recommend !

Perfect apartment for a central location

This property was perfect for a lovely weekend away. It was spacious for our needs and incredibly clean. Both the kitchen and the bathroom have been recently updated with a modern twist and the lounge has some unique traditional features.

The kitchen was equipped with everything you would expect and all bedding and towels were included.

The correspondence we had with the owners was good and their responses were speedy and concise

The location was fantastic. The airport is very close to the city. The apartment is above a restaurant and a pub opposite. This didn’t cause us any problems. There is a fantastic restaurant called L’Parfait across the road which is also highly recommended. All shops are close by and we had some lovely walks along the river.

I would highly recommend this property.

A big disappointment for us

On the plus side.

Let me say that the owners of this unit (the Caleys) are honest people and helpful. Do not hesitate to rent from them - if you have the right expectations.

Second - the pictures are accurate. The place is nicely re-done. (We'd like to see more outlets)

On the negative side - please be aware - (and hopefully there are changes to the posting and the unit to address these)

The apartment is not air-conditioned. There was an air conditioner for only the second children's bedroom. Because the afternoon sun comes in the windows, and there are no cross-breeze windows (bedrooms do not have windows), this is a problem on a hot day (or evening).

The living area is not well lit (the bedrooms and bath are well lit). This makes for a dreary stay - especially in the evening ..

You have to close the shutters and the windows nearly every night - a problem without A/C. Why? Because the apartment is directly across from the most popular bar in Bergerac. 6 of 7 nights a week there is a crowd of 30-60 young folks outside the windows talking and smoking and noshing and listening to the music from the bar starting about 8 (it is still light). Live music is good quality (except for techno night) :-) , usually loud and usually from 10 pm to 2 am. When you close the windows, it is quiet enough but that just does not work well without AC.

Finally, there tends to be some residual garbage on the street the next morning. The bar and neighbors leave bags at the corner (instead of walking them to the bins a block away). We kept 3-4 fly trap strips out the whole time - and they were full.

Not all the supplies were great or great quality.

For OUR stay - it was a bit of a misery. We left early even though we had paid up.

Now, a month later I am writing this review. I am sorry to say it has to be a negative one based on our experience.

We have enjoyed so many positive comments from previous visitors on the ambiance of the apartment and its central location, the areas which appeared to be frustrating to you.... we wish we could please everyone but unforetunatley this is impossible - we can only please the majority. The photographs and descriptions are 100% accurate which you have confirmed so I hope that future potential guests read them and get excited about staying in a beautiful apartment that is in the true heart of the old town of Bergerac. :-)

Comfortable accommodation in Bergerac

Great apartment in the heart of the old town. Clean and facilities are as listed. Excellent location for exploring the town. Parking was free but a few blocks away. Bergerac is also a good location for day trips to Les Plus Beaux Villages de France. Train station is easily walkable for a train ride into Bordeaux. Owners were very accommodating and answered questions very quickly. Had a wonderful week there.

We had an excellent 1 week stay in this marvellous modernised and clean apartment. We are a family of 5 with 3 teenage children; we had plenty of space,all the amenities within the apartment were fantastic including the kitchen which was fully stocked, the bathroom and of course the Wifi! The town is beautiful with the old and the new, plenty of shopping to do and lots of cafes and patisseries too. My son fishes so a lot of time was spend meandering down the river, fishing, relaxing and drinking Leffes. We would highly recommend it and certainly be returning again.

Beautifully restored apartment with all the mod cons nestled within the old, quaint streets of Bergerac. Fantastically situated to explore the old town and river. Lots of lovely bars, restaurants and fantastic shopping too! Can thoroughly recommend for a long weekend or a week away.
