About this property

View House - Stunning Views of Mountains and Yadkin River, huge deck, wood burning fireplace

Don't miss this stunning, one-of-a-kind custom designed & built property perfectly located near Blowing Rock overlooking the Yadkin River Gorge!

Enter the main level via a cobblestone path and a solid mahogany wood door dating back to the 1700's imported from Palermo, Italy. As soon as you walk into the home, you'll see the huge arch shaped window overlooking the layered mountain vistas of the Gorge below. The flooring throughout the home is custom wide plank hardwood, and the ceilings throughout the main floor range from 10 to 20 feet high with interior 8' doorways. Leather furnishings are arranged around this window to take full advantage of the breathtaking views, and in the evenings, warm up with a real wood fire in the stacked stone fireplace. Many of the furniture items were custom made in India using reclaimed wood pieces. An office space with a desk, wireless router, guitar, and couch is also available just off the living room and entry way.

Off the living area to the east is a large gourmet-class kitchen with stainless steel appliances including a double drawered dishwasher and a dual fuel five-burner gas range with an electric oven with convection baking option and dozens of square feet of countertop workspace. The honed granite counters were custom designed to have ample workspace while still allowing for decorations on a small shelf. There are three bar chairs at the island, and a round table for 6 is in a windowed nook just off the kitchen.

On the other side of the kitchen is a den with a couch, gas log fireplace, and a 75” HDTV, perfect for those wishing to be near the kitchen action while not missing a favorite show. Down the hall from the den and kitchen are two bedrooms, each with a Queen bed and an HDTV. The purple room features a beautiful handmade quilt from Guatemala, and the green room's bed has a Tempurpedic mattress topper. Between the two is a full bath with a tiled tub/shower and a marble vanity.

On the west side of the main level is the master suite. This bedroom has a King bed, a 75” HDTV, and deck access. The private bath has a large soaking tub, a tiled shower with a quartet of body sprayers, a rainhead, and separate hosed handle, a water closet, and his and hers granite vanities. Under one of the vanities is a doggie door to a completely fenced in dog run.

Upstairs is another Queen bedroom with an HDTV, a King bedroom with TV, and a full bathroom with a tiled shower that these two rooms share. There are two leather chairs at the top of the stairs, a perfect quiet place to work a crossword or enjoy a good book. A large office space features a multi-desk workstation, sofa and TV, and a newly added foosball with multiple games built in. There is also a full sized crib, high chair, and stroller available for the littlest guests to use. All TVs have streaming capabilities to match the home's fiberoptic internet speeds.

Step out onto the deck and drink in the stunning mountain views. The hills recede into the distance and on a clear day you can see up to 120 miles! Facing the south/southwest, you'll catch amazing sunrise and sunset vistas from here. Situated at over 3700' elevation, the breezes here are always crisp and refreshing. Enjoy a meal al fresco at the outdoor dining set, prepared on the charcoal grill. Children and pets can safely play on the deck, because it is completely enclosed and the railings are lined with tempered glass to allow for safety and maximum visibility. At night, enjoy the twinkling city lights of Lenoir and Hickory in the distance, and on a very clear night you can catch the light haze from Charlotte.

While guests are not able to park in the garage, there is a 50amp Tesla plug with an 18' hose that guests may use to charge their vehicles.

You may not ever wish to leave this haven of peace. When you do venture out, you'll be pleasantly surprised that the home is located less than 10 minutes to Blowing Rock or Boone, about a mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and just minutes to all the High Country has to offer. Come experience the View House today!

Please note that the owners use outdoor surveillance cameras to ensure that their home remains safe. No cameras monitor the inside rooms of the home.

Great House
The house was amazing, you are staying in a work of art really, this is not your normal rental, its like staying in someones home, who has traveled the world, and hired a great interior decorator. It was really great with 3 downstairs bedrooms and a real wood fireplace! The views are amazing, close to everything, and even has a great bonus room (out of the way) and perfect for kids with babies. Can't say enough about it, would stay again for sure and would love to meet the people who own it, sure they have great stories about building it!!

Great house
The property was beautiful, house was very nice BUT when we arrived we found that the gas fireplace in the sitting room would not light and the linens in the upstairs bedroom did not seem to be changed from the last guest. Called property management at 9:30 Saturday morning to report the issues, was told that they would take care of it. Arrived back at the house at 4:30 Saturday afternoon, neither issue had been addressed, called property management back to ask when maintenance and housekeeping would arrive. No progress had been made throughout the day in getting someone scheduled to come out. Was told that both housekeeping and maintenance would arrive later Saturday evening. Housekeeping arrived ~8pm Saturday evening, maintenance never arrrived. No phone calls to follow up, fireplace never worked.

Beautiful scenic oasis
We loved the View House! I think we took a million pictures of the view at different times. House itself was great, kitchen well equipped, things were clean, fireplace was sooo tranquil. Only comments would be that the house is maybe a little less suitable for small children (the beds are EXTREMELY high, lots of breakables everywhere), and when the gas fireplace appeared to run out of gas, the property manager was impossible to get ahold of- we tried calling the regular line (left a VM), after hours line (busy signal), and emailed (never received a response). Glad we didn’t have any other emergency because we never did reach anyone. Also, glad we weren’t big TV people and we brought iPads for the kids because many of the TV remotes had dead batteries (and a couple of lamps with dead bulbs, and there was no firewood to start as promised) or the TVs just didn’t work as they were supposed to. Also- we were here during a big winter storm, and despite waiting 48 hrs after, our car (which does have 4WD) got stuck in the snow 3 times in the neighborhood. So definitely recommend anyone come with a big truck with snow chains or spikes if you’re going to come during snow time. Some of my friends wished there was a hot tub though I was okay without it. Despite all that we had a fabulous time and absolutely loved the house, sledding next to the house, building a snowman on the deck. We hope we can return another time with a big truck and snow chains!!!!

Exceptional Mountain Home
This was our second stay at The View House, and it didn't disappoint once again. We were lucky enough to experience beautiful winter scenery due to snowfalls on two occasions during our stay. The breathtaking overlook from the home's deck was picture-perfect with the fallen snow on the mountains and in the valleys. Also, the home's location is really wonderful, it's in a private/secluded area but a close drive into town for anything you may need or want to do. We appreciate the opportunity to have been able to stay in this magnificent, unique home. We will definitely be back for a third visit!
