Lovely stay at Pono Kai
Pono Kai is wonderful and the property manager, Larry, made sure everything was right. The property is easy walking distance to downtown Kapa'a, making it the perfect place to stay on the island. The pool is beautiful and there are bbq grills everywhere. We will definitely be coming back!
We enjoyed are stay very much the unit is well equipped with all you need to have a great time on the island. We would rent this unit again
Unit needs tons of updating
Refrigerator, curtains, paint, cleaning, screen door, patio furniture - all need replacement. Need table on patio. Needs A/C if needed.
Very Convenient Location
My parents and I made last minute reservations to come home for my grandmother's funeral. The condo is in a great location on the property and in Kapaa (especially since my mom's family is in Kapahi). The condo overlooks the pool and has parking directly in front of it (some condos have a bit of a hike from the parking lot). There's a BBQ grill right below the condo and quite a few on the property. It's a second floor unit, but close to the stairs and there is an elevator, as well. The property is right on the beach (there was a monk seal napping there when I was here in October) and right on the walk/bike trail that runs along the beach up past Kealia and Donkey Beaches. it's not far (maybe 200-400meters) to Baby Beach, too. We happened to be here for the first Saturday of the month so were able to walk to Old Kapaa Town for First Saturday. If you're up for a little walk, the Farmer's Market is somewhat close by (I think on Wednesday?) The condo itself is kind of dated (popcorn ceilings & the flooring/wall base/bathroom are in need of updates/replacement). The bedroom has only one window and since there's no A/C it gets a little stuffy in there. I slept on the Murphy bed in the living room and was very comfy at night. the screen door and window allowed for nice air circulation. Plus I had the one box fan. I would recommend stopping at WalMart or Costco in Lihue and picking up a cheap fan for the bedroom if you're staying a while. The condo included beach towels and straw mat and beach chairs, which was handy. We brought some snorkels and fins and left them for the next visitor. All in all, it;s a great place to stay for the price.
Outdated dingy needs help badly. There were elephants staying upstairs moving furniture at all times
The location was great, Close to restaurants grocery store shops bike path beaches( not the best by far but close) The resort is laid back and have activities for their guests but not for this condo. The island is very rural parts are beutiful but the traffic sometimes takes away from the paradise feel.It rains alot and sometimes you cannot enjoy the beauty of the island. For example on a clear day we drove to see the great canyon of the pacific and could not see anything because it was fogged in. There is very little night life here, but if you want to rest and go to bed early like the chickens, which are all over the island. This island is for you. Make shure you bring extra cash everthing is expensive.
Just as advertised.
Nice grounds. A/C would’ve been nice but fans did the trick.
