A truly beautiful and HISTORIC STONE FARMHOUSE, part of which dates from the 16th century, complete with a fantastic stone inglenook fireplace (or ‘cantou’ as it is called locally). This EXPERTLY RESTORED HOUSE has everything to make your stay in the Dordogne both fabulous and memorable with its fully equipped breakfast kitchen, fantastic sitting room ‘salle cathedrale’ which is open to the rafters and a marvellous raised patio with lovely rural views - just perfect for a glass of wine or a relaxed lunch with family and friends… The house has WIFI throughout.
Le Chataignier at La Balade au Bois gives our holiday makers access to an old authentic farmhouse with all its historical features but with the comfort and amenities of a modern,stylish home and all this in a location which is calm and peaceful but yet close to all the Dordogne's most famous sites and activities:- the Medieval town of Sarlat, Le Chateau de Castelnaud, Canooing on the Dordogne, Tree Top Climbing all just a short drive away!
La Balade au Bois has two gites, Le Chataignier and Le Noyer, both set in the hamlet of Les Cabanes in the commune of Nabirat. Le Chataignier has its own PRIVATE GARDEN WITH BARBECUE and outdoor dining furniture. In the large, shared garden there is a 11m x 5m HEATED SWIMMING POOL (shared with Le Noyer) and superb pool deck with stone barbecue and summer seating/dining area. The gardens are large and give a wonderful area to enjoy and play. Adjoining the hamlet is a lovely forest area just perfect for an evening stroll- this is where you leave the rat race behind!
There are 'HOTSPOTS' IN THE DORDOGNE and we are definitely in one of those. The choice is yours- total relaxation in our rural setting or, in just a few minutes, you can be at some of the best tourist sites that the Dordogne has to offer! Domme, La Roque- Gageac, Beynac-et-Cazenac, list goes on!

"The Golden Triangle of the Dordogne Valley" is made up of 7 towns of Domme, Cénac, Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, Vitrac, La-Roque-Gageac, Vézac y Beynac-et-Cazenac, 4 of these are classed as 'les plus Beaux villages de France'" the Minister for the Dordogne. All of these towns are within 15/20 minutes of La Balade Au Bois!
