DO NOT RENT FOR LONG TERMS
I am a Canadian teacher who rented this apartment for 5 months with my Maltese dog. I found this place to have several issues and inconveniences. Angela and her father, owners of this apartment, are very ungrateful, ungracious, discourteous, and unappreciative hosts.
Angela did not know how the washing machine and oven worked and I was told to read the manual to figure it out.
During my stay she never once sent me an e-mail or phoned asking if everything was alright and to give her a call if I ever needed help or anything. The only time I heard from her was a day or two before the rent was due asking if she could stop by at a certain time and the day so she could collect.
No blankets were supplied even though I asked and I had to borrow 2 from a friend of mine that lives in Florence.
Her father told me not to raise the thermostat above 20 because NO ONE in Florence does. Temps this winter did dip to 4 degrees C many nights.
A week and a half after arrival construction work began next door and continued for 10 days beginning at 7:30 a.m. with jackhammering, banging, drilling, etc., which shook the walls and scared my dog. I was ready to move out but was told it would stop stop shortly.
When my friend arrived from Barcelona to stay with me for 8 days she was charged each night of her stay. Angela did not warn me about this even though I had informed her 2 months prior to her visit. She placed me in a very embarrassing situation. My friend's sister and brother-in-law rented the apartment next to me so I even brought Angela business.
On 3 separate occasions there was no water in the apartment. Couldn't even flush the toilet.
I left to spend the Easter holidays down in Rome with friends and cousins. I informed Angela about this on Easter Thursday and told her I would contact her as soon as I got back. Easter Saturday I received a text message from her stating that she had made an appointment for a computer technician to check the router and he would be at the apartment the following Friday. From Saturday until Wednesday she sent 6 messages. I wrote stating she could let him in supervised by her. She kept harassing me because the rent money was due Easter Sunday and I was not there. She told me she did not have an extra key to enter. Of course this was not true. I returned Wednesday for her benefit. There were only 19 days left before my departure.
There are cheaper and better places to stay in the centre.
