Surrounded by nature and quietly tucked away in St Lawrence Undercliff, close to Ventnor on the South side of the Isle of Wight. Built circa 1855 and formerly part of the Twinings Tea Family Estate, this 2 bed, rather special semi-detached, once Estate Managers cottage, has recently been lovingly restored back to its original condition, with the gardens being designed and planted by the current owners to match the period of the cottage. Though a few thoughtful modern touches have been sympathetically added for additional enjoyment and comfort.
2 Old Park Cottages is the perfect cottage to take some time for yourself and your loved ones, with stunning coastal and inland walks, challenging mountain biking and
some wonderful little Bays along the coastline to picnic and relax on; Woody Bay being the closest, just over half a mile’s walk from the cottage.
Very much a typical Victorian cottage layout, with a cosy and comfortable sitting room, offering plenty of seating and a welcoming log fire, perfect on those cooler evenings, and a large Smart TV.
The kitchen has been restored to mirror Queen Victoria’s children’s kitchen at The Swiss Cottage in the grounds of Osborne House. The dining area is in the conservatory next to the kitchen, with the immaculate bathroom off of the small back hallway between them, with a stunning free standing roll top bath and hand held shower. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, with the back bedroom benefiting from some stunning sea views out across the English Chanel.
Two beautifully and well thought-out planted cottage gardens, with no species dating later than 1860. Set over two levels and packed with half a dozen species of rare roses, dating from the 12th to 19th century. Eenter the grounds by the top garden, let your senses go free and breath in the wonderful perfume from the rare roses, walk around the flower beds and find the strategically placed seating, positioned to maximise the breath-taking coastal views. Follow the stepping stones to the top of the steps that will take you to the lower garden and front door. More specimen roses and flowers will greet you, there is a raised decked area, with table, chairs and a gas bbq. As you come down the steps from decked outside dining area, there is a small raised pond and water feature.
Nearby attractions including the popular Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Steephill Cove and the Victorian sea side town of Ventnor, with its many boutique shops, Artisan café’s and restaurants. Take a walk along Ventnor Esplanade, enjoy an ice-cream and take a paddle in the glistening English Channel from Ventnor Bay.
The cottage is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with stunning coastal scenery which offers a varied choice for walkers, cyclists and other outdoor pursuits. Take a picnic to the peaceful, wild and stunning Rocken End where you will find fossils galore among the fallen rocks.

Note: Parking is in front of the gated entrance to the top garden, with stepping stones that take you to the top of the 37 steps that take you down to the lower garden and front door.

The internal staircase is steep, with stairgates at the top and bottom.
The Bathroom is downstairs.
You have to walk through the top garden, then down 37 steps to the lower garden and the front door of the cottage.
The light switch for the upper garden lights is attached to the Magnolia tree, that is above the plant pots and fence on the left-hand side of the front gate.
They can be turned off in the cottage, the switch is on the right-hand side as you enter the conservatory. The switch for the light by the cottage front door can be turned on/off with the switch at the bottom of the stairs on the right.
Please remember this is an old cottage set within the woods, so you will be living among nature.
