Property type villa

About the property

Villa sleeps up to 8 people, 230 sqm, private pool, waterfront, private jetty

Villa Yalenia is a luxury villa on the island of Lefkada. Built on the water’s edge amongst beautiful trees and lush vegetation its location could not be more magnificent. The spectacular scenery and natural beauty of the villa make it the most exclusive property on the island. The owners are a local family of Civil Engineers and Home Designers with a flair for style and design. The family villa has been renovated to the highest standards while keeping comfort and traditional Greek island design in mind. The villa is discretely hidden by mature trees and glorious wildflowers ensuring that guests have privacy whilst still enjoying the superb views across the water whether from the easy armchairs on the terrace, the sunbeds on the decking of the swimming pool or on the lush lawn right by the water . Villa Yalenia is ideal for both families and couples. Boasting its own private jetty and with a private motorboat included in the price of your holiday, getting around the island, going shopping or finding your own secluded beach couldn’t be easier. Should you prefer to bring your own yacht or hire one during your holiday you can easily drop anchor in the bay and row the short distance to the jetty. Visit Villa Yalenia for an unforgettably luxurious holiday on the undiscovered island of Lefkada.

Upon your arrival we will be waiting to welcome you to the villa. We provide a generous welcome hamper so there’s no need to worry about going out shopping when you arrive – just immediately unwind and relax in the beautiful surroundings. Your Welcome Hamper includes fresh fruit, fresh salad items, locally baked bread, cheese, ham, jams, cakes and biscuits, orange juice, soft drinks, wine and water.

Villa Yalenia has been carefully designed as a spacious and comfortable holiday home leaving guests feeling refreshed by its bright and airy design. The ground floor has the most wonderful garden and sea views through large French windows. With space for all your guests around the large dining table and the huge comfy sofas set around the fireplace it is the perfect place to gather on cooler evenings. The modern kitchen leads directly off the dining area and is fully equipped with everything a comfortable home needs. The junior suite, with bathroom and WC, is also located on the ground floor and has its own access to the terrace and gardens. The wooden staircase makes an interesting centre piece to the ground floor and leads to three further bedrooms on the upper floor. The first two large bedrooms are both doubles with en-suite bathrooms. The impressive 43sq.m master bedroom has a large sitting area with comfy sofas, a king size bed and walk in closet. The Italian tiled en-suite is made complete with its own Jacuzzi. Coco-Mat mattresses will ensure a restful night’s sleep – Coco-Mat is a Greek company committed to the manufacturing of the “best beds in the world in the most sustainable way possible”. The mattresses consist of multiple layers of 100% natural materials and provide the optimal elastic support to the human body, without the use of metal springs. The master bedroom with its large wooden balcony for enjoying the views over the gardens and out to sea will be one of the most popular rooms in the villa.

Renovated with love and care

Villa Yalenia was originally built by the family’s grandfather and has been renovated with loving care in his memory. The design was accomplished with the utmost comfort and quality in mind and then decorated with the greatest care. The owners’ pride and love for their grandfather is evident in every corner. All interior wooden surfaces are handmade of solid oak. The downstairs’ floors are made of aged marble from Crete. The wooden panelled ceiling is in keeping with the traditional Lefkadian ceilings of the island and is a trademark of the local architectural style. The wooden staircase is the masterpiece of the house having been designed to give the feeling of one level flowing into the other and giving the illusion of a single open space. All bathrooms are designed exclusively in Italian style and the floors and walls are lined with Italian tiles or marble. The showers are all walk-in and protected with safety glass. In the kitchen, the cabinets are made of oak and the worktop is solid granite. On the upper floor, the wooden terrace and pergola are made of cherry wood and shaded with a wicker mesh. The house is partially lined with stone and painted using natural pastel colours which is characteristic of the houses in the old town of Lefkada. The terraces are paved in stone and the small covered seating area in the garden has natural stone seating.

The newly built in 2016, sauna room is separate to the main house. Located in a cool room furnished with comfy sofas and flat screen TV, our sauna room is the perfect place to relax.

The swimming pool is 50sq.m with a depth of 1.60m. Set just 3m from the water’s edge, swimming will be a wonderful mix of the lush green of the garden and the brilliant blue of the Mediterranean. The pool area is equipped with sun umbrellas, sun loungers and an outdoor shower. Guests will spend long lazy afternoons lying in the sun, enjoying a refreshing drink and taking in the gorgeous view across the sea to Tranquil Bay and Nidri.

There is a private car park for villa Yalenia, which can hold up to six cars, opposite the gate to the house.

Lefkada, an island full of culture and Greek spirit

Lefkadians, being warm people and ‘full of life’, always welcome their guests in a very hospitable way. Throughout history Lefkada was a crossroads of West and East and the Lefkadians have had the advantage of many cultural influences. Despite these many influences they have still maintained their Greek identity. Principally this is due to the fact that even though Lefkas is an island, the ‘islanders’ were never ‘cut off’ as they are linked to the mainland by a bridge.

Lefkada, with an area of 295 sq km, is the fourth largest of the Ionian Islands and has a coastline of 117 km. The easy access to the island across a floating bridge has made it a favourite with holidaymakers. The floating bridge is an excellent feat of engineering and can raise both ends and swivel round on its axis to allow yachts and fishing boats through the channel to the main harbour and down the East coast. This lovely undiscovered island offers fabulous unspoilt beaches all along its coastline and is a boater’s paradise with its multitude of satellite islands. Some of the best known beaches are Porto Katsiki, Kathisma, Pefkoulia. The Prinigponisa satellite islands are Scorpios, owned by the late Aristotle Onassis, Meganisi, Sparti and Madouri owned by the late national poet Aristotle Valaoritis.

The island of Lefkas or Lefkada is lesser known as a holiday destination to a wider audience in comparison to neighbouring Corfu, Paxos and Cephalonia. This of course has ensured that it has maintained much of its character and traditional Greek identity. There are plenty of attractions even for the more discerning traveller. The impressive green landscape offers many beautiful walks for all levels and there is a very good book that can be bought locally with tracks to follow. The long white beaches of the west coast are perfect for sun worshippers and family days out, and the crystal clear waters of the small coves on the east coast are a snorkeler’s paradise. Beautiful old churches dotted around the island, museums in Lefkas Town and archaeological sites close by are great for those looking for a bit of culture whilst on holiday. Lefkada also hosts one of the most famous International Folklore Festivals in Greece during the month of August.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had such a fantastic time at Villa Yalenia. It was everything we had hoped for. We have never had such a relaxing holiday and a great place to spend our 25th wedding anniversary. Also having the use of the boat was the icing on the cake. We told everyone about the villa and showed them all the pictures that we took. In fact, I’ve attached a picture that I took from the balcony outside our bedroom. I have saved it on my mobile phone so every time I open my mobile, this picture is the first thing I see!

Hiring a boat can open up a realm of uninhabited beaches and coves and for this reason we have decided to include a motorboat in the price of Villa Yalenia. The boat will be delivered to the villa for to enjoy days out discovering the surrounding coastline. Whenever we arrange boats for you the price includes the provision of a map of the boating area, buoyancy aids, flares, oars and anchors. Detailed instructions will also be given for operation and mooring and a full local back-up service is provided. There are many small deserted coves on the coast and excellent snorkelling areas where you can enjoy the local marine life such as Sea Urchins, Sea cucumbers, Hermit Crabs, Red Star Fish and when overturning stones or rocks perhaps you will be lucky to find a Brittle Starfish or even an Octopus! The hire of the motorboat is included in the price and you must pay for your fuel consumption locally. Linen Change twice weekly. Pool cleaning every 2 days.

Fantastic week!

  • 5 of 5

After our stay 2 years ago we again stayed in Villa Yalenia. The location is quit and relaxing, but with the provided boat it is fast and easy to reach the boulevard of Nydri. For us the location of the house at the waterfront and the included boat is a perfect combination. The warm welcome from the owners of the house and Lilias makes you feel very welcome. The charming villa with a big beautiful garden completes the story. With these ingredients it is hardly impossible not to enjoy your stay! We'll be back for sure.

Stunningly beautiful

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we saw Villa Yalenia, and the boat with private jetty, we knew we had to stay. We must say we were not disappointed.

Our contact with Lilias was first class and seamless. The villa interior, gardens and various outside living spaces were designed to the high standard shown in the pictures.

Ioanna and the Margeli family made us feel very welcome and the villa was prepared and cleaned to perfection. The welcome hamper was great for the day of arrival and stretched to a few lunches into the week. There were also thoughtful touches such as bathroom accessories and cold beer glasses in the freezer.

The boat totally made the holiday and we used it a lot to explore the local area. It was also a fun and quick way to pick up our food shopping from Nidri and visiting restaurants in Geni and Nidri. When visiting the restaurants in Geni the staff keep an eye out as you approach and help you dock. The staff at Trident boats were extremely personable and helpful (they also to help on arrival at the Nidri jetty).

We would thoroughly recommend the De Blanck Champagne Bar in Nidri which opens from 11am! The owners were so friendly and the quality of the wine and “tapas” style food was incredible.

We used the boat in the evenings to visit restaurants in Geni - Elena, Gialos and the Seaside restaurant. They were all excellent and very reasonably priced for food and wine even the Seaside which is “fine dining”. The personal and friendly service in Gialos was particularly good. Kominatos bakery was great for pastries and cakes. As was the ice cream from Kouskouvnz (not sure of the spelling).

So many positives it’s been hard to think of any negatives. I would say that, as there were only two of us, three housekeeping visits during the week wasn’t necessary particularly as we like to relax in the mornings. However these were mentioned in advance and, if we’d thought, I’m sure that we could have asked for fewer or later slots. For larger parties this level of support may be very helpful as this is substantial, spacious property. Also as our stay was at the very start of the season the swimming pool started to warm up towards the end of our week.

Lilias was so helpful from the start and this high level of service continued into the holiday. We had such a great week and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Thank you very much to all involved for a fantastic holiday.

We loved this villa with its refreshing pool, beautiful garden and elaborate villa. After arriving by boat at our very own jetty we were greeted to a wonderful welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our week travelling everywhere by boat especially the numerous restaurants, caves and coves. Thank you to Lilias for all your wonderful help during our stay, what fantastic customer service!!!

A perfect family holiday in a perfect villa

  • 5 of 5

We travelled to Villa Yalenia with our 3 children aged 9, 6 and 2 for a week in July and had the most wonderful relaxed week.

The villa is quite simply the most beautifully finished villa we have ever stayed in. It is luxurious yet homely and the owners have taken great care to ensure that their guests are comfortable. The villa is well stocked with useful items such as laundry items, condiments, cleaning products and even mosquito repellant and first aid items. There was a selection of toys and games and the owner even offered to get hold of some English DVDs for the children to watch (although they were far too busy outside to need them!)

The whole villa was spotlessly clean and the housekeeper did a wonderful job which ensured that we all had a break from chores. The beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning was efficient. It is worth noting that the fourth bedroom is downstairs and quite separate from the rest however our baby monitor worked from there to the master bedroom.

The villa is set in stunning gardens which are lovingly maintained by the owner and which provide numerous lovely spots to enjoy both sun and shade. We were a little nervous about the direct access to the water with our 2 year old however, the layout of the garden over several layers and the clever planting meant that it would be tricky for him to just wander out and reach the pool or sea which was reassuring.

The infinity pool is exquisite and was the prefect temperature (we don't cope well with cold water!) and the owner had even thoughtfully provided some pool toys. There were plenty of pool/beach towels and lovely comfy loungers and chairs.

Having the boat was the perfect way to explore the coast, reach beautiful swimming spots and go out to eat. In fact, we didn't get in our hire car at all for the whole week and next time wouldn't bother to hire one. The town of Nidri had everything that we needed for shopping to self cater and it was also easy to get baby items such as nappies etc. Lilias was able to recommend some lovely restaurants and we all loved 'Hippocampus' for delicious fish and 'Elite' for the best pancakes and waffles.

We found all the locals incredibly welcoming and very happy to help with mooring the boat etc. The boat hire company were very helpful when we wanted to keep the boat after our check out from the villa on the last day and Lilias was kindly able to safely store our luggage until we left for the airport.

We would all love to return nex

  • 5 of 5

Had an amazing stay at villa yalenia, we were greyed at the house by lilias and loanna and her mum such lovely people. The house was beautiful as were the gardens which led down to the jetty where we had our own boat ( in with the house ) which we went out on every day to get to the lovely coves and snorkling then onto have lunch at one of the many tavernas on the waters edge , how lovely it was to jump in the boat in the evenings to go to one of the many restaurants and then head to nedri for a stroll round the shops in the evening and pick up any groceries needed , we had an amazing stay I couldn't have wished for anyplace better to spend my birthday with family and close friends , I'm hopping my daughter will get married there!! Thankyou soo much for letting us use your beautiful house, we hope to see you again next year . Fantastic x

Holiday Perfection

  • 5 of 5

The setting of the villa is perfect. Having the combination of a boat at the bottom of the garden, a gorgeous pool and the turquoise sea left us spoilt for choice. The kids loved exploring the beautiful garden.Everything in the house is well designed and works! We loved going by boat to the great restaurants in Geni as well as to explore coves and small beaches. The island is our favourite as we find it not too touristy with wonderful views, great snorkelling and reasonably priced tavernas with fantastic service and food. Lovely, warm and friendly owners of the villa welcomed us again and it did feel like returning to a very special "home"

Lefkada is a Greek green island in the Ionian Sea. Some of the most famous sandy beaches with crystal waters of the Mediterranean, such as ‘Porto Katsiki’ and Kathisma, are located in Lefkada. The charm of Lefkada is complemented by the smaller islands which surround it. The gorgeous Skorpios, the famous island of Aristotle Onasis and Madouri, the island of the illustrious poet Aristotle Valaoritis, are great choice attractions especially for foreign visitors. Beautiful natural environment is emphasized through a wonderful blend of the olive green, the golden sand, turquoise waters and the rock grey colors offers the visitor a unique opportunity to feel welcomed to a colour, light and life fiesta. Lefkada is a favorite and easy destination, all you have to do is follow the road. A floating bridge connects Lefkada with the mainland, making it the only Ionian Island, where you won't need a car ferry to reach it.
