Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Saint Neots - River Frontage

3 bedroom terraced town house

River Terrace is situated in a very quiet cul de sac off the market square in the town of St. Neots. It is a terraced house, on three floors. The ground floor has a hallway, downstairs cloakroom, two large cupboards, also a newly fitted kitchen/diner with a door giving access to a patio adjacent to the River Ouse. A new conservatory has been added giving a wonderful place to sit to watch the river passing by.

The second floor has a lounge and a bedroom and the third floor has two more bedrooms and a newly installed shower room and toilet

House on the River Ouse close to Cambridge: If you want a relaxing holiday near to the river, shops and transport River Terrace offers all this. You can sit out on the patio watching the river pass you by and a large park opposite and if you need to go to the shop for a loaf of bread, just go out of the front door and within 3 min you are in the market square. The best of both worlds. A car is an asset but it certainly isn't a necessity as everything is in such easy reach to the house.

A property in a great location for a holiday

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of four and stayed at the property for a very enjoyable week's holiday. The location of the property is one of its main plus points, being so centrally located to the centre of St.Neots and yet in a very peaceful cul de sac. Also being right on the river with such lovely views across to the park. It was great to sit in the conservatory to either eat or relax and watch the many different boats and birds pass by.

The house was very clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything you need and had a warm, homely feel. Ann was very helpful with all enquiries and provided all relevant information about the property once booked.

There was an M&S Food store in walking distance to the property which was great. We also ate out at Pizza Express and enjoyed a fabulous afternoon tea at Poppy's Vintage Tea Room. As well as exploring St.Neots we visited St. Ives taking a lovely boat trip, Cambridge and also London which was very easy from the station in St.Neots. I would certainly recommend this property as a great holiday base.

A relaxing town house on the river.

  • 5 of 5

River Terrace is an excellent place for a relaxing holiday.

All the main rooms, the conservatory & the patio look out on to the river with only a large park on the far bank and there is always something to watch on the river with boats, dragon boats & a variety of water birds passing by.

Despite being within very easy walking distance of the centre of town (150m) River Terrace is located in a quiet road with almost no traffic.

St. Neots centre is well provided with a good mix of places to eat & shop & is also a good centre for exploring this part of Cambridgeshire.

Our 30 day stay

  • 4 of 5

After booking our emergency stay due to medical diagnosis our overall impressions are that the location of the property is perfect for relaxation. It is also very wel placed for walking the few hundred metres to several dining places, Indian, Italian, Chinese and a lovely tea room. Several pubs serving good quality food so no need to cook if you prefer not to. There is a weekly market every Thursday as well which is just around the corner and well worth visiting. The house is a delight with everything you need and some. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would recommend you try it. S and D Patmore

Perfect Holiday in UK

  • 5 of 5

I left UK 36 years ago and apart from short Xmas visits every 2-3 years until 10 years ago I have not been back to stay. So this year I wanted to just 'live' in England in warmer months for a few weeks, and so we rented this property for 5 weeks.

It was perfect: The home itself is a 3-storey townhouse with 2 double bedrooms and a single bedroom, large living room with beautiful view of the River Ouse and the park on the opposite bank plus a ground floor kitchen/dining area with all modern appliances and cooking utensils, etc. We wanted for nothing in the house itself as everything (except groceries) is provided and in good, clean condition. The small garden from the kitchen backs onto the river where swans and ducks (and boats) pass by regularly, and I did some peaceful angling.

In addition to being on the river, the property is located in the centre of St Neots and so coffee shops, supermarkets, pubs, banks and post office, etc, etc are all within a very easy walk. There is a weekly Thursday general market (literally 1 minute walk away) and a bi-weekly farmer's market on alternate Saturdays. There is also a good Chinese restaurant which does take-aways almost literally across the road which we used several times.

We visited London twice which is an easy bus ride (or park & ride if you have a car) to the railway station with about every 40 minutes and taking less than an hour to Kings Cross. From St Neots also easy to visit Cambridge and Ely and the town very close to A1(M) and M1 motor ways.

Although I never met the owner, Ann, in person, she has been exceptionally friendly, helpful and very responsive to email queries. For example, when I asked about baby-sitting services she introduced us to a neighbour who volunteered to look after our twins one evening so that we could enjoy a meal out.

If I have any non-favourable comment to make it is this: The living room has a large arched window which faces west and on a sunny day the room gets very warm and I almost bought a cheap pedestal fan on a couple of days. However, in the autumn and winter months this would actually be a favourable comment. And for anyone wanting to visit in the colder months, the home has central heating.

I wish I could have stayed longer.

Lovely Town House with beautiful view of the River

  • 5 of 5

A very clean and modern Town House situated in a pretty town with lots of shops and beautiful surrounding villages.

We also got to visit London and Cambridge in our stay which was so easy to get to by train.

The house is bright and spacious, with wonderful views overlooking the River and Park. The terraced garden which leads onto the river gives it a very relaxing atmosphere. It was equipped with everything we needed to keep the family happy. We had a great week at this property and found the owner to be pleasure to do business with. A definite thumbs up from us highly recommended.

The town has a cinema and bowling alley not to ignore the plethora of restaurants in walking distance, our favourite was the Bosphorus Turkish Restaurant near the Market Square.

Perfect for the occasion

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 stayed for 3 weeks whilst work was undertaken on our own home in St Neots. As a local, the beauty and convenience of the house came as no great surprise and because it was not a holiday, we had not thought to leave a review until we read a recent one from American visitors and wanted to redress the balance! Without going into too much detail, the house was clean, fresh and tidy (likewise patio), well furnished and maintained with comfy beds, draught free windows and ample hot water for our needs. It seems they were either staying in a different house or have most unusual standards. Due to our unusual circumstances, we asked for extra time to move in and out if possible and Ann was most accommodating.

St Neots is an old market town situated between Cambridge and Bedford, both within easy reach by bus to Bedford or bus/train to Cambridge. Also the towns of Peterborough, Huntingdon and Stevenage can be reached by train. The train station is a five minute drive away or a 15 min walk. The station is on a main line which will take you to London in 50 min.

A market is held twice weekly on the square where you can buy fresh produce, clothes etc. There are numerous shops and restaurants within walking distance from the house. The River Ouse runs at the bottom of the garden with Riverside Park opposite which is ideal for pleasant walks and also during the summer there are festivals held in the park and on the river.

At nearby Cambridge you can find so many places of interest to include churches, universities, museums, theatres and of course, the River Cam where punting is a great tourist attraction and not to be missed.

Golf: There are three golf clubs in the area. The distance to each would be about 5 km except for St. Neots which is about 2 km away. All are 18 holes.
