Overview

About the property

3 bedroom terraced town house

River Terrace is situated in a very quiet cul de sac off the market square in the town of St. Neots. It is a terraced house, on three floors. The ground floor has a hallway, downstairs cloakroom, two large cupboards, also a newly fitted kitchen/diner with a door giving access to a patio adjacent to the River Ouse. A new conservatory has been added giving a wonderful place to sit to watch the river passing by.

The second floor has a lounge and a bedroom and the third floor has two more bedrooms and a newly installed shower room and toilet

House on the River Ouse close to Cambridge: If you want a relaxing holiday near to the river, shops and transport River Terrace offers all this. You can sit out on the patio watching the river pass you by and a large park opposite and if you need to go to the shop for a loaf of bread, just go out of the front door and within 3 min you are in the market square. The best of both worlds. A car is an asset but it certainly isn't a necessity as everything is in such easy reach to the house.

Great location in the main city centre of St.Neots

  • 5 of 5

Right on the River Ouse and across from a beautiful Riverside park. The house had everything we needed for our stay and Ann quickly responded to any questions we had. My wife and I used to live in one of the units a few doors down (over 16 years ago) and brought our new born son home there. It was a trip down memory lane.

Comfortable, convenient, and lovely stay!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just completed an 11-week stay at Ann's home in St.Neots, Cambridgeshire, UK (my husband was posted to a short-term work assignment in the area).

First, Ann is a delightful, extremely responsive host who is amazingly quick to answer any questions.

Second, the home is exactly as described on the HomeAway website. The kitchen has a variety of utensils, cookware, serving pieces & even spices, along with plentiful seating, a washing machine and clothes dryer, and an almost American sized fridge with separate freezer! The lounge is comfortable, the TV is great, and the cable/internet was very good. The bathrooms upstairs & down were clean & very functional with plenty of towels. The bedrooms are smaller, but functional. The Master is larger (as is the bed) and has a great view of the River Ouse. We found the bed a little too hard for our comfort, but a mattress topper we purchased and left for the next lucky guests ameliorated this. (For any American audience - we are just too used to our Sleep Number bed!). The Conservatory (off the kitchen) which leads out to the patio was very comfortable, bright, and airy. Unfortunately for us, the weather somewhat precluded our routine enjoyment of the space. But once the days started to get longer, with a small amount of sunshine, the Conservatory was my favorite place to relax!

Fourth, the place is incredibly centrally located within easy walking distance to the Library, churches, grocery stores, pharmacy, pubs, restaurants, dry cleaners, hair salons, movie theater and fitness centers. Additionally, the Thursday & Saturday farmers markets in Market Square were very convenient for fresh meats, vegetables and baked goods.

And last but not least, the quietness of the neighborhood so close to downtown, and the peacefulness of the river and the park across the river made the place an oasis of calm.

I think after 11 weeks of living in a place you really can give an accurate opinion of what a place is like. Our opinion is we would return to this home in a heartbeat! We loved it.

We will however, draw the reader's attention to something a previous guest referenced - be prepared for stairs. Kitchen & Conservatory on Ground Floor, one bedroom & Lounge on 1st floor, and Master Bedroom & Large bathroom on the top floor. You will get your exercise especially if you are forgetful!!

Also, FYI: cheap eats: Weeping Ash pub; fabulous Italian: Il Girasol; best burgers: Blazing' Burger. Cheers!!

Set on the Ouse, own mooring. Well equipped kitchen, large dining area, comfy beds & living room.

  • 5 of 5

I went here with my two "kids" (19 & 23!) for a get away from it all break. We all loved it. The house is so central just off market place. Recommend Il Girasole for a great Italian meal, Wyboston lakes for golf, the Pig n Falcon pub for live music and the Oast Lounge for Snooker. The house set in three floor is the perfect retreat for a relaxing break. Overlooking the river Ouse and remarkably peaceful given its central location. Thank you so much Anne Harris. We will be back!

Fantastic house on the River Ouse ....

  • 5 of 5

A delightful property right on the banks of the River Ouse, well furnished and laid out with plenty of space for us and our two young children. Mornings were spent feeding swans, geese & ducks from the terrace whilst drinking a nice coffee!!

The house is literally a minutes walk from the Market place in St Neots and in a lovely quiet & calm setting. A vast array of shops, Waitrose supermarket, restaurants & pubs all within easy walking distance.

Overall a very nice relaxing week ......

Lovely Riverside relaxed stay.

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful relaxed place to stay. Everything you could possibly need is provided and it is around the corner from town which has a number of restaurants and pubs. Supermarket is a few minutes walk. We only took out the car to travel to Cambridge and other sights. Our daughter had a very easy commute from London and was quite sad to be leaving the lovely river view, from every level, and cosy beautifully decorated house. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Fantastic location, lovely stay by river.

  • 5 of 5

Saw kingfisher, heron and cormorant daily. Very restful sitting by the river. Lots of restaurants very nearby. Visits to Cambridge, Wicken Fen, Little Paxton nature reserve and Hemingford Grey gardens. All good places to visit or just lovely to walk along the river.

St Neots is an old market town situated between Cambridge and Bedford, both within easy reach by bus to Bedford or bus/train to Cambridge. Also the towns of Peterborough, Huntingdon and Stevenage can be reached by train. The train station is a five minute drive away or a 15 min walk. The station is on a main line which will take you to London in 50 min.

A market is held twice weekly on the square where you can buy fresh produce, clothes etc. There are numerous shops and restaurants within walking distance from the house. The River Ouse runs at the bottom of the garden with Riverside Park opposite which is ideal for pleasant walks and also during the summer there are festivals held in the park and on the river.

At nearby Cambridge you can find so many places of interest to include churches, universities, museums, theatres and of course, the River Cam where punting is a great tourist attraction and not to be missed.

Golf: There are three golf clubs in the area. The distance to each would be about 5 km except for St. Neots which is about 2 km away. All are 18 holes.
