small, but peaceful
Owners were fabulous! Its small, but perfect for a small family. You are not at the lake to stay inside. Was a little different having a shower in one of the bedrooms and not a toilet or sink, but worked for us.
Nice Getaway Waterfront Cottage
Overall i had a pleasant experience at this cottage.Firstly, it is a waterfront cottage, meaning you have the lake right in front of you, which is great if you're a fisher (you have access to the dock as well) With a party of 5, we were still able to make it fit with one person bringing a sleeping bag and toughing it out on the carpet floor. The cottage is a single level. You have to walk down a flight of stairs to arrive at the front door and down another flight of stairs towards the lake and dock. As the listing says, you should bring your own linen as they provide the basic essentials, pillow, one blanket, cooking-ware, refrigerator, AC unit, some hand towels, etc. There are windows in every room, which is nice so you can aerate them. They have a stove top but to get it to work, you need an additional lighter to start it, which is provided. The shower is in one of the bedrooms while the toilet is located in the common area space. The toilet did have slow flushing pressure, so be aware of that. They have both a gas grill located on the patio area, and a small portable pit for smores, etc. The dock was stable and we were able to catch several fish on it! In the common area, theres a small tv with cable which was nice when unwinding for the night. Two ceiling fans helped aerate the room along with the AC, which is stationary. Towards night time, the common area was the cooliest, with both the ceiling fans and the AC unit. Although they do have window screens, there were still some bugs that got through and were flying around at night. Some great food near the area like Andy's BBQ shack and Seneca Farms. Grocery is relatively close by like TOPs, ALDIs, Walgreens and more. For boat, kayak, jet skis and other rentals, closest are Morgan Marine and East Bluff Harbor. Had a great time and would reserve again!
We had a wonderful time! Lucked out with great weather!
Cottage was the perfect size for us. Place was very clean and tidy and was supplied with everything we needed. Love the location and its closeness to the lake. It was so peaceful and the sunsets were awesome. We would definitely go again! Thanks for renting your home to us.
Perfect! Just what our family needed. Owners are awesome and they were very helpful.
First time renting on Keuka Lake and first time renting through VRBO. Truthfully did not know what to expect but from the moment we arrived Cynthia and Mark were extremely helpful and welcoming. My gf drove to the cottage while ny son and I boated in with our rental ski boat for the week. The waters were uncharacteristically rough that day and Mark was waiting for us on the dock to help us tie the boat onto the dock in a way not to damage it. Thank you for the extra bumper that came in handy.
The lake house itself was smaller than I imagined however it turned out to be perfect in size for our family of 5. The kids slept in the bedroom with the 2 twin beds and my girlfriend and I shared the bedroom with the queen bed. Overall the place was very clean and kept up well and the air conditioner worked pretty well with all of the fans that are provided inside, two ceiling fans and portable ones spread the cool air out good. It was very charming and cozy. It was just enough room for sleeping and cooking and using the bathroom for hygiene LOL. It WAS PERFECT in size for our immediate family because it kept us and the kids outside enjoying all of the natural beauty that we paid to enjoy.
However if you plan to have visitors come by there's ample room outside but you won't be able to entertain inside well. Honestly that's the only negative I can think of if that is even a negative comment. We will be coming back next year to Keuka Lake and if it is just us and our children again we will book this lake house again!! There is a chance a couple other family members may come with us next year so we may need a bigger place. But if that's not the case I have no issue with renting the same lake house again. I know I already said that but I want that to be noted! If you rent this place you will not be let down! Thank you again!!
P.S. thanks for fishing out the keys haha
Felt like a kid back at Grandmas cottage
I have never written a review before but I got to tell you this was one of the best family vacations we have had. Quit, private, peaceful, fun and relaxing. This small but ample cottage had everything we wanted. It really is a cottage, not a cookie cutter/hotel room style rental.
We rented a boat from the marina and the dock was perfect. The kids loved fishing off it in the mornings and cannon balling off the end of it during the day. At night we sat out on the deck and enjoyed the view and played cards with the kids. It was great family time.
The cottage had everything we could have needed down to the coffee filters, forks, spatulas and everything in between.
My only selfish worry is writing something nice about it so that others may want to go. I plan on going back and don't want it booked up. The owners deserve cudoes for keeping it simple and elegant.
Adorable, clean cottage for a weekend at the lake.
We had a wonderful time during our stay! Cindy was polite and prompt, and the cottage was just perfect for our visit. It provided all amenities listed, and the property was extremely well-maintained. We were able to spend a weekend with family, shopping at Penn Yan and Hammondsport, checking out wineries, and visiting Watkins Glen. We would highly recommend this property for anyone seeking a vacation directly on Keuka Lake.
Many wineries and breweries in the area, Curtiss Museam is in Hammondsport
