Myself and some friends rented Sunnycroft recently and I just wanted to write a quick blurb saying how pleased we were with the house. Great location, very welcoming, lots of room for the 4 of us. If we decide to do a repeat next year, this is our #1 choice in the Leek area!
Sunnycroft is a lovely home. Everything is there that we needed. Superb walks from the door, a pub ten minutes walk, big supermarket ten minutes drive. Quiet neighbourhood with very little traffic on the roads. The owners were very helpful and friendly and have a very good knowledge of the local area and it's attractions.
I would definitely recommend the house to friends and relations and I look forward to a return stay.
Dear Emma and Nick, My children and I loved staying at your wonderful cottage. The house and garden were very spacious, clean and most of all: felt like home. We've played many games of badminton in the garden. Loved waking up to the sound of birds. The kitchen was very well equiped, everything you could possibly need was there. The beds were very comfortable. The children enjoyed two fantastic days at Alton Towers and I loved shopping at Trentham gardens. I recommend this cottage to everybody. Kind Regards, Suus
We had a great week at Sunnycroft in May 2013 and it was ideal for our group of five adults. The house is stylish and comfortable and is in immaculate condition. The kitchen has everything you could want and we enjoyed family meals round the large sturdy dining table. May was quite warm though the nights were nippy and we found the heating very effective, but it was nice to have the option of lighting a wood burner once or twice. Nick was really helpful and showed us how everything worked and gave us great tips on where to walk.
The house is very quiet with a patio that is great for sitting out and looking down the garden to the boats gently going by on the canal. The great thing about this house is how well placed it is for local walks straight out of the door. We explored several miles of quietly active local canals, including a walk into Leek and we completed the circuits by walking through the country parks back to the house. It is also easy to drive to the more dramatic scenery of the Peak District for a more strenuous walk and we had a relaxing walk round the nearby Rudyard Lake.
This is one of the best houses we have stayed in for quite a while and we’d love to stay again.
We loved this cottage. It is clean and comfortable with everything you could possibly need. It was so relaxing just to sit in the beautiful garden and watch the rabbits at play. The tranquil canal side walks with flower filled woodlands and glimpses of the local wild life were something to look forward to each evening.
The location is excellent close to the bustling little market town of Leek and the impressive Roaches Ridge - a magnet for climbers and walkers. Cycling the lovely Manifold Valley is a treat not to be missed (bicycles available for hire).
The owners Nick and Emma were very friendly and helpful and gave us lots of useful information on the local area, walks, places to visit etc.
Overall we had a great holiday here - we would not hesitate to book this lovely cottage again and will be recommending to friends and family
We have just returned from a short stay at 'Sunnycroft' and I have to say it is the nicest self catering accommodation we have ever stayed in. The house is presented in immaculate condition and has everything you could want or need as well as being spotlessly clean! It is in a peaceful and picturesque location and the views out to the garden and canal at the bottom were beautiful and it was lovely to see wild rabbits and a resident pheasant roaming the grounds. We were a party of two adults and three children including two teenagers who are particularly hard to please but they loved staying in this property. We booked this cottage specifically for Alton Towers as it was only a 20-25 minute drive. We had an amazing time there too and would definitely return again. The owners are really helpful. I agree with some of the comments in the guest book that this does not feel like a holiday home but more like staying in someones house, we could not fault it!
Our self catering cottage is in a stunning location with the 'Staffordshire Way' walking trail literally at the back door, country parks to front and rear and canal frontage at the bottom of a large, south facing, garden overlooking woods and hills.
Enjoy the tranquillity of the Churnet Valley whilst only 5 minutes drive from the antiques and amenities of Leek.
2 Pubs are within an easy 10 minute walk (1 canal side).
Alton Towers, the UK's largest theme park is only a 20 minute drive as is the rich industrial heritage of the Potteries where you can take factory tours of Moorcroft, Wedgewood and Emma Bridgewater to name a few.
The stunning grit stone ridge of The Roaches is only 10 minutes away and to the east the more intimate limestone of the Manifold Valley and Dovedale are accessible in 25 min.
Chatsworth House is a scenic 45 minute drive over the peaks.
