La Bruguera de Púbol is our impressive sustainable farm, in the Catalan countryside. It is the former residence of the Catalan artist Casademont "Le Vieux" and his family, consisting of 3 hectares of forest, a large villa, a pavilion for treatment or games in the garden, and a heated pool (March-October), located in the beautiful countryside of Baix Empordà.
Sustainability is important for us and so we have renewed the infrastructure of the property, so that electricity comes from solar panels, heat and hot water from heat pumps and a log boiler, and water from wells in the farm itself. Our guests can focus on their relaxation, knowing that there is no cost to the environment. Creativity, focus and instant calm: these are all the types of feelings that our visitors talk about, once they pass through the doors.
La Bruguera de Púbol consists of 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, distributed over 3 floors. It was built at the beginning of the 1980s, as a place for reflection, family enjoyment and creativity. Casademont "Le Vieux", painted his paintings of Catalan landscapes, here, for 3 decades, and was inspired by the modernist buildings of Le Corbusier, the famous Swiss architect. The architectural result is a unique combination of discarded modernist features, such as exposed concrete columns, huge corner windows and floor-to-ceiling windows, with the softest features of historic Mediterranean architecture, such as terracotta tiles, ocher colors and a 10m pool with mosaic tiles.
While we were working on the property between 2015 and 2017, we have left the charm intact, but we added a variety of modern conveniences. For example - air conditioning and heating, renewable energy, salt water and heating for the pool, high-speed internet and more mobile phone coverage - so we have made it possible for you to enjoy the tranquility of La Bruguera, keeping your life of the 21st century!
The gardens of La Bruguera de Púbol have been carved from a mature oak forest and several species of Mediterranean pine. The villa is perched near the top of a gentle hillside, and the forest has been gently cut around the house to reveal beautiful views to the south and east over the massive trees towards the hills of the Gavarres and the nearby olive groves.
Water is a recurring feature, with five ponds connected by a stream, in several places through the forest, some with fish, many with other aquatic species such as frogs and salamanders.
The forest has two large orchards, in which a large quantity of fresh and delicious products grows every year. We also have many fruit trees that produce peaches, tangerines, avocados, oranges, nisperos and figs, as well as a canopy of grape vines that we make table wine every year. We cook first class vegetarian food here for our yoga, biking and activity retreat guests, and this service may also be available at an additional cost for our tourist guests, if desired.
The Casademonts loved giving themselves small buildings on important family dates: visit, and you can walk the forest paths and discover a Gaudí-style fountain, an old Spanish telephone booth and several other interesting structures around the forest.
The property also has a large yoga studio / event space, converted from the old art gallery on the site, and a small separate apartment, which may be available as additional costs as well. See http: // fb. me / labrugueradepubol to see images of these spaces.
La Bruguereta, the small separate apartment on the site, has two bedrooms, its own parking, entrance, kitchen, living room, television, washer / dryer and wifi.
