French Country Cottage with shared heated pool and Sauna

Surrounded by stunning views, Papillon accommodates up to 5 guests and is set within 9 acres of grounds including pastureland and it's own woodland, which includes a Zip Wire ride within the trees that is surrounded by beautiful countryside. Comfortable furnishings are blended with modern, updated facilities. A light and spacious barn conversion has original oak beams and exposed stone walls with fire place and woodburner. Perfect for a romantic retreat or family holiday. Papillon is ideally situated if you are interested in walking, cycling, canoeing, historical architecture or wandering around the many local markets or if you just want to unwind, relax or play in the lovely heated pool . We also have many outdoor games to occupy the children such as a zip wire ride in our woods, trampoline, table tennis, pool table and some bikes available free of charge. Plenty to keep them occupied.
The open plan living space with vaulted ceiling and original beams contains a fitted kitchen together with dining table and comfortable lounge area with wood burning stove. Kitchen appliances include washing machine, gas stove, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle , toaster , coffee machine.
UK Satellite TV .
The master bedroom has double height ceilings with exposed wooden beams and period furniture. The 2nd bedroom with 2 single beds . There is also a mezzanine area with additional single bed.
The contemporary shower room is fully tiled with walk in power shower.
Stairs from the living area lead to the private rear garden / patio mainly lawned with mature trees.
Outside there is a BBQ and dining area.
The 5 x 10 heated pool and sauna is shared with another 4 bedroom house but there is plenty of space and sun loungers. Parasols also provided.
All linen and towels provided.
Papillon has a lot to offer whether planning an active holiday or whether you just want to soak up the peaceful atmosphere here while relaxing by the lovely heated pool or explore the many activities in the area. It's a great location for family, friends or couples alike.

Relaxing peaceful holiday

This was our first time in the area although we have been in rural France many times. We were lucky being off season the other property was empty so we had the pool area to ourselves. Lizette is a wonderful host, on hand if you need something, but leaves you to it if want to relax. The weather was kind so we went walking every day, there are so many walks in easy reach. Coming back for a swim in the heated pool was fabulous. Our dog made firm friends with Poppy the resident Jack Russell and they spent ages playing together. We would definitely recommend staying here if it's a rural holiday you want.

Perfect Getaway!

A wonderful stay at Papillon. Not only were we blessed with good weather but we had the perfect location to explore the beautiful area. I great welcome from Lizette who was always on hand if needed and who gave us lots of recommendations for eating and visiting. We would definitely recommend this wonderful Dordogne getaway! Superb family holiday

We had a fantastic week in Grand Brassac. The location was great, peaceful and rural but close enough to interesting places nearby to visit. (We visited caves, a lake and went canoeing in Brantome.) Lizette was a wonderful host, welcoming and very helpful. The gite had everything we needed and the facilities, pool, zip wire, table tennis pool table bikes etc were perfect for our family (children aged 10 and 13). Many thanks!

Great stay - fantastic location!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Grand Brassac. The property was very clean and tidy and Lizette and Craig were excellent hosts and always available when needed. The facilities on site (pool, zip wire, table tennis, bikes etc.) were a real plus as there was always something to do on rest days. The nearby canoeing and horse riding (detailed in the property information provided) were both excellent and good value for money. The local area is very beautiful with lots of interesting villages and small towns to visit.

Lizette and her husband Craig bought Le Guichard in June 2013, after having owned a successful holiday rental property in Devon, they were looking to continue in the holiday lettings business, but in a warmer climate. They now live here permanently with their 3 horses and 2 terriers. We fell in love with the peacefulness and tranquility of it's surroundings and the beautiful countryside. We were also looking for a property that would not only provide our guests with a high standard of accommodation, but could also offer plenty of local activities and Le Guichard has it all.

Why they chose this property

On first visiting this area of France we immediately fell in love with it. It's location makes it very accessible from the UK & many parts of Europe. The area is a wonderful mix of rolling hills, winding rivers & extensive countryside views. It is a great spot to explore the many varied historic & cultural sites including a range of caves, chateaux, vineyards & pretty villages. Our property is in the countryside which provides a haven of tranquility ideal for relaxation & yet is close to many towns such as Brantome and Riberac with it's shops, cafes, bars & restaurants including the famous Friday market. The area offers a mix of outdoor pursuits and quiet lazy days wondering through historic picture postcard villages. This is a great holiday destination for either families or couples.

What makes this property unique

In this area of the Dordogne there is an abundance of outdoor pursuits and plenty of tracks leading straight from the property, for cycling, walking and horse riding or fishing in the local rivers. Nearby golf courses and many local markets and festivals. Or take a canoe trip down the river or meander around the colourful markets or the pretty villages. There is also the nearby leisure lake at La Jameye with a man made beach.
Our holiday homes are detached properties sitting in their own private gardens and of course there is the pool, with all pool furniture provided for our guests comfort and enjoyment. There is also our own Zip Wire ride ( see photos ) built in our own woods for the kids to enjoy.
