A wonderful place
The stay started well, with John being a responsive and helpful host. The setting was perfect for Christmas but lovely any time of the year. The house was attractive and equipped as you would hope. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms clean. The furnishings were appropriate for a house of this style. The en-suite bathroom was in the eaves and good for a bath but tricky to shower in unless you knelt down. The walk-in shower at the bottom of the house was great though.
It was wonderful to be able to have a real fire in the lounge too.
We felt welcomed and had a wonderful 2 weeks here.
In the heart of Falkland
Great period property with room for everyone. John was a wonderful host! He and his lovely family live next door and John is there if you need him, but not if you don’t. Terraced house on 4 levels. Laundry and one bathroom in basement with access to garden. First floor is kitchen (with great sized refrigerator, 1 bedroom, dining room and full bath. Second floor has two bedrooms, living room and no bathroom (hallway is super creaky with loose boards under carpet so bring sound machine or use noise app so you aren’t woken if someone uses the bathroom in the middle of the night!). Third floor is one bedroom with en suite bathroom (hand held shower). Garden is very private. Patio space is too tight to enjoy a meal outside as it’s a bit overgrown and the table is right next to garbage bins, but a lovely spot to hear the birds and see the beautiful roses. Falkland is the most charming town in all of Scotland (in my opinion). Local shops, pubs and eateries, walks around Falkland Estate or to an organic market, hike up East Lomond Hill, and the crown jewel of the village, Falkland Palace with its amazing history and beautiful gardens and orchard (Sadler’s House overlooks the orchard). I’ve stayed at four different properties right in the middle of Falkland village and they are all fairly comparable. You won’t be disappointed with a stay at Sadler’s House!
Hi And thanks for your note. I appreciate your comments and will be out with the clippers and see if I can sort alternative location for the bins.
lovely to meet you all and you'll have to let me know if you buy the house in the horsemarket!
All the best
The property is everything we could have asked for and more. Stunning place, stunning location.
We absolutely LOVED the property. The house was extremely spacious and had average amentities. The location was surreal, right in the middle of the village, and surrounded by history and beautiful nature. We were extremely content with the beautiful house and John himself who was a gracious host.
