Built c 1700 and named after one of its original occupants, Birch Cottage enjoys glorious views over the Manifold Valley. Recently renovated, the cottage features a cosy mix of beams, tiled floors, wooden latch doors, a handmade kitchen and a wonderful stone fireplace with log burner.

Tastefully decorated and well equipped to merge modern amenities with period charm, it offers a relaxing haven to get away from it all. The comfortable size lounge has a log burner (first basket of logs provided free, then more available on an honesty system), free WiFi, freeview TV with DVD player and a selection of DVD's and books.

Birch Cottage is perfectly located in the Peak District National Park in an ideal spot for exploring the area. We have wonderful walking and cycling from the doorstep. The cottage is in a perfect location for enjoying all sorts of outdoor activities or just to use as a base to explore the area.

There are numerous activities in the area and a good pub 5 minutes walk from the door. There are many other pubs and restaurants within a short drive.

Parking is usually available at the cottage for one vehicle. If this space is not available, parking is on nearby village streets. There is also secure storage for bikes or other sports equipment in a shed about 50 yards from the cottage.

Please note that due to the age of the cottage the stairs are reasonably steep and we would advise care when negotiating them with luggage.

About Sue Bradbury

Birch Cottage is owned by myself and my sister Helen Archer. I live in Staffordshire and Helen in Derbyshire and we both love walking and living in the countryside. We both have four dogs each and various horses, ducks and cattle.

We both love walking in the Peak District National Park and spending time with our dogs. We regularly take ours away with us for a week or so's walking and feel very strongly that you should be able to do so and still be able to enjoy a quality cottage in a lovely area.

Birch Cottage has undergone a fairly extensive renovation programme and we are now very proud of it. We would be delighted to welcome you to Birch Cottage and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Why Sue Bradbury chose Buxton

We were looking for a cottage within the Peak District National Park, with car parking and with access to excellent countryside. We fell in love with Birch Cottage the minute we entered it - it has glorious views over the Manifold Valley and a cute cottage garden to sit and enjoy the views with a cup of tea (or something stronger!). The village pub within a very short walk, across a footpath opposite the cottage, was also a real bonus.

What makes this cottage unique

Birch Cottage is part of Seven Chimneys a 'cheek by jowl' jumble of cottages which at one time also included the local police station! Two of the cottages have since been demolished, leaving just the five properties.We feel it is very charming and unique. and those views.......

Beautiful break away

This cosy cottage exceeded expectations. A fantastic location with beautiful views, which we all loved waking up to every morning.

Plenty of room for the 3 of us as well as 2 huskies.

We will certainly look at coming back again, even my 6 year old said how much he enjoyed it and wants to move in.

I would wholeheartedly recommend staying here and am very happy with the contact and welcome we received with the owners.

Delightful, well equipped cottage

The owners were very accommodating and made us feel at home immediately. Everything was clean and up-to-date and the bathroom was a dream. We met several of the neighbours who were all very friendly.

We spent most of the time in glorious weather exploring the local villages and walking along the Manifold valley.

I would have given 5 stars, but the parking and access road is a bit narrow. We managed OK but large cars could have a problem. I daresay that this is a common problem in country villages, and you take it as you find it.

Warslow is a pretty stone built village situated on the side of the beautiful Manifold Valley within the Peak District National Park. It was originally a small estate village, remodelled and rebuilt in Georgian times by the Harpur Crewe family who lived at Calke Abbey.

Warslow sits above the Manifold Valley through which runs the manifold way, a former narrow guage railway line which closed in 1934. The roughly 8 mile long track runs from Hulme End to Waterhouses through spectacular scenery in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Warslow has one pub, The Greyhound which dates from the 1750's. It provides an ideal base to explore the Peak District and an excellent base for walkers or cyclists. It is approximately 11 miles from Buxton (with its famous opera house) and 10 miles from Ashbourne (with its lovely antique shops and local markets). Bakewell, where you have to sample the famous puddings is 14 miles. Alton Towers is only 14 miles away too.

The well known village of Hartington is just a couple of miles away and offers a good selection of shops and amenities, including the award famous Hartington Cheese and Wine Company producing and selling a wide range of delicious cheeses.

This area is fabulous for walking, cycling and horse riding.
