Overview

About the property

Restored 18th century bastide, art deco: B & B rooms 1-2 pers, apartments 3 - 7 p

The villa Saint Marc is a country house of the XVIII century entirely renovated. Classified 4 stars in furnished tourism.

In the opinion of our guests, we have the most beautiful sight: in the center the citadel, in the west the Luberon mountains, in the east the mountains of the Verdon and the lavender sea of the Valensole plateau.

We are quiet, and our manager Cristiana -very appreciated in your comments - serves homemade breakfasts, on the terrace with views.

Our location is ideal, according to your comments, 10 minutes from the center, but also at the start of walks in the mountains (Mourres site).

We offer several rooms in B & B (2 people each, with private bathroom), a large penthouse (4 to 7 people), and an independent cottage (2 to 4 people)

Here you are quiet, (with the exception of the songs of cicadas in summer), while being less than 10 minutes from the center of the village (trade, market open Monday and Thursday).

You can also walk directly from the villa to the remarkable site of Mourres.

The Villa Saint Marc is located in the heart of the Lavender region, in the Luberon Regional Nature Park, with its pretty villages, its enchanting nature with typical scents and flavors, often described in the novels of Giono.

Our villa in Forcalquier, is also on the edge of the Regional Natural Park of Verdon, with its Valensole plateau (sea of lavender), its lakes, its mountains, and its torrents and its famous gorges.

From the villa, you have one of the most beautiful views of the "country" - in the opinion of forcalquiérais - on the historic village of Forcalquier, and the mountains of Lubéron in the West, the mountains of the Verdon to the East. Our guests confirm this in their reviews on this site, or on trip advisor.

For those seeking tranquility, the stay here is ideal: you are both quiet (with the exception of the song of cicadas during the summer), while being 10 minutes walk from the center of Forcalquier, with its market, shops, the new green village (organic products, local products), innumerable restaurants and bars.

OFFERED SERVICES :

Here you have many services on site: saltwater pool, with - for great swimmers - the ability to chase lengths through swimming against the current. For lovers of water massage, just sit on the steps and adjust the power of the jets ...

We also have in the park of 4. 500 m2, a playground for children, with a small hut between the trees and a swing.

A ping-pong table is at your disposal as well, and a game of Badimton.

The villa is surrounded by a terrace, which also has beautiful views of the citadel, where "optional" breakfasts are served.

There is also our vegetable garden - entirely organic - where we grow vegetables and salads in permaculture.

the orchard below is planted with some fruit trees.

Sometimes Cristina, our manager, who runs a cooking show at the local radio station, offers homemade pies with tea / coffee / syrup. It is usually vegetarian and organic.

The villa is fully equipped, with internet access and wi-fi everywhere.

Parking is also available in the fenced park.

ACCOMMODATION:

The decoration of the villa is neat, in "art deco" style, respecting as much as possible the authenticity of the place. The floor of the ground floor is made of colored cement tiles of origin. On the first floor are typical Provence tiles. And in the second, they are rare rectangular floor tiles. Some rooms have a renovated floor in massive wood flooring.

The ceilings are elevated, as it was traditional in the houses of masters. They are decorated with friezes of origin especially in the living room and the dining room of the ground floor.

Some walls have been restored, with the original colors and patterns.

The rooms on the first floor are en suite and are suitable for 1 to 3 persons. They all have views of the citadel, and the surrounding hills.

The penthouse suite on the second floor with its two bedrooms and huge living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom, is suitable for 4 to 7 people. It has a "seated dog" of Provence, with a clear view overlooking the old city.

And the semi-detached and independent cottage with a bedroom and a large living-dining room, kitchenette, is suitable for 2 to 4 people.

Of all the houses, south facade, very sunny, you have the magnificent view on the citadel and the hills.

The breakfasts, optional, are taken on the terrace which dominates the park, always with the magnificent view.

For shopping, two supermarkets are less than 5 kms away. Several mini markets are downtown (10 minutes walk). And Forcalquier is proud to have set up a "green village", 10 minutes walk from the villa. You will find local products sold in short circuit (directly by local producers), and a large area of organic products.

Forcalquier is not a city resolutely oriented towards art and heritage. Several dozen artists have their studio, and for some of the galleries. To visit if you like art.

OUR CHARTER:

We are oriented towards respect for the environment, we do not use - as far as possible - products harmful to nature and animals. Our cuisine is vegetarian, and we encourage our guests in the cottage or penthouse - as much as possible - not to cook meat in the kitchens.

We put at their disposal barbecues for use outside, in places that we have specially moved into the garden, with water and electricity.

We are internationally oriented, having lived in several countries before coming to settle here. We respect all cultures, and can communicate in French of course, in English, in Italian, and a little in German.

We are available for our guests, and as mentioned in the reviews on this site or on trip advisor, we help you as much as possible to advise you and help you on your trips, your meals, your leisure activities, your visits.

We are here to make your stay as pleasant as possible. And we are happy to see you happy and relaxed during your stay.

We have often seen stressed hosts, by virtue of their profession, their active life! After a few days here, we noticed the faces more and more relaxed, the smiles return. It 's our greatest pleasure.

HOBBIES :

From villa saint marc you can for example walk to the rocks of mourres, less than an hour walk from the villa, in the hills of garrigues, where you will smell the wild thyme. The Rocks of the Moures, of particularly strange shape (heads, mushrooms, others? ) Associated with erosion at the bottom of a lake. True open-air museum ...

On foot, you can make many visits in Forcalquier itself: the old town, the chapel of Sainte Marie, full of hikes explicit in maps.

You can play tennis, practice golf (nine holes at 5 kms), horse riding (several clubs in a radius of 10 kms), admire the valley and the hills in a hot air balloon flight (the base is at Town center of Forcalquier) ...

The Monday market is a must, not to be missed. It starts a 5-minute walk from the villa.

Enthusiasts of art and heritage will be satisfied. Many visits possible to artists' studios installed in Forcalquier, and very old restored buildings.

By taking the car, you can visit magical places like the abbey of Ganagobie (15 km), the ethno-botanical museum in the old monastery of Salagon (5 km), the seas of lavender on the way to Valensole (a from 10 kms).

Remarkable sites are nearby such as the Ocres du Roussillon, Lake Esparron de Verdon with its many water activities.

Many walks are also possible by bike, which you can rent in Forcalquier itself. We received hosts, who went by bike from the villa to the small Luberon (60 kms) ...

Semaine merveilleuse à la villa Saint Marc

  • 5 of 5
